• What can be cooked from squid: quick and tasty

    Very often, in the sultry heat, the room lacks at least a minimum air flow. To solve this problem, many people buy desktop fans, they are convenient and compact, some of them work from USB, that is, they can be connected to any charger, power bank or laptop, so that the coolness is always with you. But why buy something that you can do yourself from improvised means? For the readers of the site, we have prepared two simple instructions, which will clearly explain how to make a USB fan at home with your own hands. So, all you need to prepare is a sharp knife, good scissors, electrical tape, an unnecessary USB cable and, in fact, a homemade executive body. As for the latter, it is customary to use one of two options: an old cooler from a computer or a motor from a typewriter or other toy.

    Idea # 1 - Using a cooler

    It will take no more than 15 minutes to assemble the USB fan from the cooler. First, you need to prepare a cooler. Two wires come out from the device - black and red, and sometimes yellow, even less often - blue. Yellow and blue will not be useful to us. We clean the insulation by 10 mm and put the prepared element aside.

    Next, you need to prepare the yusb wire. We cut off one half of it and in the place of the cut we clean off the insulation with a sharp knife, a clerical one is perfect. Under it you will see four wires, of which two are required: red and black. We also clean them, while the other two (usually green and white) are best cut and insulated.

    Now, as you understand, it is necessary to connect the prepared contacts in pairs, according to: red with red, black with black using twisting. After that, you need to carefully insulate the cable junction with electrical tape or heat shrink and make a stand. As for the stand, then it's already a matter of your imagination. Someone successfully uses wire, others very interestingly cut out a landing nest in a cardboard box.

    After all, the homemade mini fan plugs into a computer or charger and you can enjoy the operation of your own electrical appliance.

    Cooler idea

    Idea number 2 - We use a motor

    It will take a little more time to make a USB fan from a motor and a CD-disk, but still, in an hour you can easily make such an electrical appliance with your own hands. A motor for such a homemade product should be chosen with an operating voltage of about 5 volts, a little more is possible. If you take the motor to a lower voltage, then too much current will flow through the circuit and the motor will quickly fail.

    First, we prepare all the elements of the device. In this case, you will need to make the impeller (s).

    To make it, we recommend using an ordinary CD. We draw it into 8 equal parts and carefully cut it with good scissors, almost reaching the center. Next, we warm up the disc (it is convenient to do this with a lighter), and when the plastic becomes more elastic, we bend the blades at an equal angle (as shown in the photo).

    If the impeller is not sufficiently bent, no air flow will be generated during the rotation of the disc. However, if you overdo it, then the homemade product will also work poorly and unstable.

    When the blades are ready, move on to creating the main mechanism. Inside the disc you need to insert an ordinary one, cut to the right size, a champagne stopper, which must be placed on the motor shaft. Next, let's move on to creating a laptop USB fan stand.

    Here, as in the previous version, it all depends on your imagination. Of all the available means, the option with a wire is the most suitable. When homemade usb the fan will be ready, we connect the wires of the motor to the wires of the yusb cord, as in the previous version, carefully insulate the twist and proceed to testing.

    Nowadays, it is impossible to imagine the hot season without a fan. At this time, both large and small models are important. But, unfortunately, the latter are many times more expensive, and not in every store you will find suitable model... Do not rush to shell out - there is a way out!

    In this article, we will show you some ideas on how to make a DIY fan at home. This process is quite fun, so it will be possible to involve teenage children in it.

    Cooler fan

    This is the easiest way to make a home fan. For manufacturing we need a cooler from an old computer. This part itself is already workable, we just need to correctly connect it to the wire.

    If the future fan will be located in the immediate vicinity of the computer, then a standard USB cable will be suitable as a wire. Cut off the unnecessary edge of the cord with a small connector and strip the wires. We also strip the wires at the cooler in the same way.

    Sometimes there are more than two wires in the cooler and the USB-cable, remember, we need the black and red colors of the two wires in one and the other. We don't need the rest.

    After stripping, we connect the red wire to the red one, the black one to the black one, the connections must be properly insulated. After isolation, the fan is already fully operational, it remains to come up with an original stand to your taste and glue it to the cooler. Everything! The device is ready!

    The rotational speed of the cooler is quite high, so you can safely use it as a fan for drying your hands.

    Disc construction

    This device is more complex than one made from a cooler. For manufacturing, we need a motor with a protruding iron rod. These motors can be taken from an old toy, a VCR or a player (the last option is the most suitable, because it is the player that has a standard disc attachment). We connect the motor to the wires in the above way.

    We cut the disc into eight future blades; when cutting, we do not reach the end of the inner edge. Heat the disc slightly for softening and bend the blades, as in conventional fan... Instead of a disk, you can use plastic bottle.

    Insert the bottle cap into the center of the blades, it is the cork that will be the connector of the motor and blades. If the insert turns out to be too big, then carefully cut it off with a knife.

    By combining all the details, we supplement finished structure stable stand. To do this, you can use a bushing from the roll. toilet paper and a second whole disk, which will serve as a common support.

    To fasten the parts together, there will be better use high-quality glue, so that in the future the structure will last a long time and not crumble.

    Fan of two plastic bottles

    This design is more complex and requires a more serious approach in manufacturing. Result - great way make a kind of table or floor fan with your own hands.

    For manufacturing we need:

    • two bottles of different sizes - 0.5 and 1.5 liters;
    • small 12 V DC motor;
    • 7 thick straws for drinks;
    • power supply unit and connector to it;
    • CD disk;
    • hot melt and super glue;
    • switch;
    • plastic ties.

    Accessories:

    • marker;
    • scissors or knife;
    • insulating tape;
    • soldering iron;
    • nippers.

    Cut the blades from a bottle with a smaller volume, as indicated above. We make a hole in the center of the plug with a hot awl or nail. We put the cover on the engine and fix everything with hot glue.

    We build a stand. We firmly glue the beverage tubes together with superglue - this is our future stand. Cut out the upper part from the second bottle and insert the glued tubes to the middle of its length, not forgetting to fix the connection with superglue.

    We install the engine with blades on a tube rack, additionally again coating everything with hot melt glue. We hide the wires in tubes, so they end up inside the rack. We fasten the structure of the engine and the struts with plastic ties, gluing them along the tubes with hot melt glue and cutting off the remaining excess edges.

    Cut openings at the bottom of the rack for the power supply connector and the switch. We connect them, not forgetting about good insulation. We attach everything to the plastic with hot melt glue.

    To make the base heavier and more stable, we construct a bottom from a disc. To do this, simply glue the disc with the edges of the plastic bottle with hot glue.

    We connect the power supply to the connector, and now the fan is ready to go!

    What to do if the household fan is not working?

    So, we already know how to make a fan on our own. But in your household there is probably a faulty factory-made fan. The design of such products is simple (you can use the instructions), therefore, for those who are especially curious, the final topic of the article will be - repairing a floor fan at home.

    Causes of malfunction

    Let's list the main problems in which the device does not work and possible ways their elimination.

    The unit does not turn on. If the light is on, but the device does not turn on, then the reason is probably broken buttons. If the light does not light up, then the reason is most likely in the cord or plug.

    Weak blade rotation is a signal of insufficient lubrication of the bearing inside the motor.

    The fan has stopped rotating left and right. It's all about the crank, its mounting screws can loosen or unscrew.

    Humming and no rotation. There are three possible reasons for the breakdown - lack of lubrication on the bearings, a broken capacitor or an electric motor.

    DIY fan photos

    Working in the summer at the computer, or just on vacation, sometimes you want a slight breeze, "local" coolness. The airflow of an office air conditioner does not provide the sweet comfort of the faint and directional breeze that a mini fan provides. It is very easy to make such a device with your own hands.

    How to make a "personal breeze"

    The most famous invention in this field since ancient times is folding fans. They were made of painted paper and ostrich feathers, painted silk and carved bamboo sticks. Such a device has only one drawback: to obtain the desired coolness, you need to hold it in your hand, which is not always convenient. It is ridiculous to imagine a manager or economist working at a computer and fanning himself.

    Therefore, let's return to our topic and figure out how to provide ourselves with a pleasant breath in the heat. To make a mini fan with your own hands, you need to solve the following several tasks:

    1. What will the rotating propeller be, what material will it be?
    2. Where to get a motor.
    3. From what power source the device will work.
    4. Is it possible to completely do without an engine.

    How to make a mini fan?

    Let's start with the simplest: making the blades. If you take a square from an ordinary sheet of paper, cut it diagonally, leaving about a centimeter intact in the center, you get a blank for a turntable. Then 4 sharp corners are bent to the middle and alternately strung on a nail, having previously stuck it into the center of the workpiece. That's all! Too bad it's just a kid's spinner.

    For a functional and useful design, take 2 CDs or DVDs. One will make the blades, the second will make a stand for the device.

    The old circle is cut into several equal parts (from edge to center). To make the process easier, you can hold the plastic for a few seconds over the fire. Each of the resulting sectors of the softened workpiece is slightly rotated around its axis to form a propeller.

    What other accessories are needed to assemble a handy mini fan? Here's a list:

    • Wine bottle cork.
    • A cardboard or plastic tube for attaching the motor to the stand.
    • Small motor.
    • Two wiring.
    • USB cable or batteries.
    • Good glue, scissors, strong large nail or awl.

    Where to get a micromotor

    It happens that devices that no one has used for a long time are stored in home bins. These can be hair dryers or mixers, blenders and children's cars. Even a motor from an old tape recorder, player or some other mechanism may be useful. We disassemble an unnecessary device and remove the engine, having previously disconnected all the wires.

    Since we are making a mini fan, the motor is from the old washing machine, refrigerator, vacuum cleaner or other large unit will not work due to its size and noise.

    Continuation of the assembly of the device

    A hole is made in the cork and placed on the axis of the selected engine. To secure the shaft, it is pre-coated with glue. Then, the propeller cut out of the disk is fixed with glue on the part of the axis protruding from the hole in the cork.

    Next, glue a paper tube in diameter and put it on the plane of the second disk. Then a motor is installed on top and its contacts are connected to the terminals from the USB cable. If the propeller turns in the opposite direction when connected to the computer port, you need to disconnect the contacts, swap them and re-solder them.

    By connecting a battery to such a device, you can use it anywhere in the room, in the car, near the pool.

    Wind blower without engine

    How to make a mini fan at home and do without a motor? A very popular option is to create a device using small neodymium magnets.

    They take the cooler from the computer and separate 4 transformer coils from its case. Instead of copper windings, you need to install and fix the same number of pieces of magnet. Usually they buy neodymium in the form of semi-arcs or extract them from unusable hard disk... Place the magnets exactly in the places from which the transformer windings were removed, that is, along the perimeter of the cooler frame.

    Once the last piece is secured, the mini fan will start spinning. Using permanent magnet technology, a nearly perpetual motion machine can be assembled. To stop it, remove from the chain one of the pieces of neodymium that replaced the coil.

    The field of the magnets must be equal in strength to the field of the disconnected coils, otherwise the propeller will not be able to rotate in a constant stable mode. The poles are placed diagonally, alternating plus and minus.

    What to do if none of the above methods work, if there is not enough time or detail to homemade fan? In this case, you will have to use an ordinary factory product.

    Summer has come, which means heat, heat and the eternal lack of coolness. But this problem is fixable, and pretty easy. You only need a few details and a little free time to make your life easier with your own hands, fill it with the light coolness that you will certainly get by making a USB fan at home. Of course, you can go and buy a fan in a store, but how nice it will be to sit next to the same computer, and a slight breeze from the USB fan you created will blow on you. And a thing created with your own hands always pleases not only the eye, but also develops self-love.

    We offer you to watch a video of homemade products - usb fan:

    USB fan tools:
    - Regular CD (not necessarily new);
    - The tube of silicone glue is empty;
    - Wooden block;
    - Mini disc;
    - USB cable;
    - Motor;
    - Holder;
    - Adapter;
    - Silicone glue gun.

    Three holes must be made in the tube, one in the lid and two on the sides. The holes are easy to make using a regular nail that needs to be heated first.

    A slot or recess must also be made in a wooden block. This can be done easily using emery.

    The mini disc easily converts into a propeller. To do this, it must be drawn into uniform blades, then a clerical knife should be heated and cut along the lines drawn in advance. After that, we heat the base of each blade with a lighter and bend each blade a little with the help of our hands to make a propeller.

    We take the motor, holder and adapter from a non-working CD-ROM drive.

    Now let's start assembling the USB fan.

    We heat the glue gun. Lubricate the holder along the axis silicone glue from a glue gun. The propeller must be firmly seated on this glue. Press down on all sides. Then, on the other side of the holder, drip a drop of glue and glue the adapter. We are waiting for the glue to dry well. This usually takes only a couple of minutes.

    Now we take a tube of silicone glue, remove the lid and grease the inside with silicone glue. And we insert the motor inside so that the part that we will connect sticks out of the hole that we originally made.

    Then we push the USB cable into the side opening of the tube from under the glue and connect the ends of the wires to the motor.

    It is necessary to pour silicone glue into the recess in the wooden block, and there we put the wire from the USB cable tightly, and glue the tube with the motor inside to the base of the bar. And on the other side of the bar, glue the CD with silicone glue.

    Now the propeller must be placed on the side of the adapter glued to it, put on the sharp edge of the motor, which sticks out of the hole in the tube from under the glue.

    Finally, our USB fan can be plugged in for the coolness you expect.

    Throughout the long winter, we are looking forward to pleasant summer days, and with the onset of the hot season, for some reason, we begin to dream of coolness. How delightful it will help to recuperate and relieve fatigue from a slight breeze created by a small homemade fan... Plus, making it is incredibly fun, right?

    We invite you to familiarize yourself with step by step instructions for assembling the simplest effective devices from literally junk raw materials. The article presented to your attention describes in detail how to make a fan with your own hands and what a home craftsman will need for this.

    At your disposal is a detailed description of the manufacture of options, the action of which has been tested in practice. You can make such devices with your own hands without having any experience at all. For a full perception of information, attached step by step photos and video instructions.

    The simplest fan can be made from CD disks. It can be used, for example, for local impact on a user who spends a long time at the computer.

    We will prepare the source materials for the work:

    • CDs - 2 pcs.;
    • low-power motor;
    • wine bottle cork;
    • wire with USB plug;
    • a tube or rectangle made of thick cardboard;
    • soldering iron;
    • candle or lighter, hot melt glue;
    • pencil, ruler, squared paper.

    For our purposes, you can use a motor from an old toy, for example, from a typewriter. As a cardboard tube, a sleeve from a roll of toilet paper, slightly ennobled with decorative finishing paper, is suitable.

    The main advantage of this model is that all the materials that are necessary for its manufacture can be found in almost any amateur to do everything with his own hands.

    The mini fan assembly process is pretty straightforward.

    Take one of the CDs and use a marker to divide its surface into eight identical sections. The easiest way to do this is to use a piece of squared paper.

    Let's draw a cross on it from a horizontal and a vertical line. Divide each of the four resulting right angles in half. Using cells, this is not difficult at all.

    Using a very simple method using a checkered leaflet, we can achieve an ideal disk layout into eight equal sectors.

    We put a disk on our drawing so that the intersecting lines are in the very center of its hole. By alternately applying a ruler to the lines diverging from the center, we make markings on the disk. This will make the sections look the same.

    To divide the disc into blades, draw along the marking lines with a soldering iron from the transparent part to the edge.

    Scissors can also be used for cutting, but there is a danger that the workpiece will crack during operation. If there is no soldering iron, you need to use a knife previously heated on the stove. When working with a soldering iron, a fused plastic is formed along the edges of the cut, which can be easily removed with a knife.

    Cutting the disc with a soldering iron is the most effective method in which the workpiece does not crack or deform, and the remains of the deposited plastic can be easily removed with a knife.

    Above the flame of a burning candle, we heat the surface of the disk so that the blades can be slightly turned. If there is no candle, a lighter or blow dryer will do.

    The central part of the disc should be heated, and all the blades should be turned in the same direction. A wine stopper is placed in the hole in the disc. To better fix it, you need to pre-process the edges of the hole with hot melt glue.

    The USB cable must be connected to the motor. If we do not guess with the direction of rotation of the propeller, it will be possible to swap the reins, that is, to change the polarity.

    The motor must be glued to the cardboard tube, and the tube itself must be glued to the second CD, which will act as the base of the stand.

    When the plug is installed in the hole, the stand of the second CD and cardboard tube, as well as the connecting device are already assembled, it is very important to correctly fit the propeller onto the motor shaft

    Now the propeller must be "put" on the rod of the future fan. We will try to make sure that it is installed strictly in the center. You can fix it in this position with hot melt glue.

    After completing all the work, the fan is ready for use.

    Although the construction of this device will not take you much time, the result of the work performed will undoubtedly please you.

    How to make a similar, but slightly more complex design, including a regulator in the circuit, look at the video posted at the end of this article.

    Do you find this homemade instruction manual complicated? Then you may be interested in information about and the rules for their selection in order to purchase a ready-made device offered by manufacturers of household appliances.

    Plastic bottle fan

    What our craftsmen do not make from plastic bottles! It's time to say that the fan is also very good from them. Perhaps he will not ventilate your entire room, but he will definitely help someone who is forced to work at a computer.

    We offer two options for creating such a fan model.

    Option # 1 - Hard Plastic Model

    To get the job done, we need:

    • plastic bottle with a capacity of 1.5 liters;
    • a motor from an old toy;
    • small switch;
    • battery "Duracell";
    • marker;
    • scissors;
    • candle;
    • hammer and nail;
    • Styrofoam;
    • hot glue gun.

    So, we take an ordinary 1.5 liter plastic bottle with a cork. Cut off its upper part at the level of the label line. It is she who we need to make the propeller. We divide the surface of the plastic workpiece into six parts.

    We try to mark it up so that we get equal sectors: the quality of the future device depends on it.

    We cut the workpiece along the markings almost to the neck. We bend the blades of the future propeller and cut off every second of them. We are left with a blank with three blades equidistant from each other. The edges of each of the blades must be rounded off. We do it carefully.

    To remove those parts of the blades that are closer to the neck of the workpiece, it is better to use a household knife; do not forget to round the edges of the blades

    Now we need a small candle. We light it up. We heat each blade on it at the base in order to turn it in the direction we need. All blades must be turned in the same direction. We remove the lid from the workpiece and punch a hole in its very center with a nail and a hammer.

    We put the plug on the stem of a small motor. Such motors can be left over from old children's toys. As a rule, it is not difficult to get them. We fix the cork with glue.

    Now you need to make a base on which the motor will hold. For this purpose, we take, for example, a piece of styrofoam. We fix a rectangle on it, which can also be cut out of foam packaging.

    Our motor will be fixed on the upper surface of this rectangle, to which the propeller is attached. To do this, a recess must be made in the foam, corresponding to the parameters of the motor.

    Hot melt glue is used to fix the elements of the product. In its absence, other adhesives can be used. It is important that the mount itself is as reliable as possible.
