    Factors in the development of drug addiction in people

    Let us briefly consider each of the above factors through which a person becomes a drug addict.

    • Social factor. If a person lives in an environment where the use of drugs is not prohibited, because they are used by friends, someone from relatives, then why not try it yourself. After all, there are no prohibitions, no boundaries, what is allowed and what is not. The addict does not understand that he is hurting himself and is taking the drug only because others are using it. In the future, he can no longer do without them, and drugs become vital.
    • The family factor. Very often the choice of a person depends on the situation in the family. If a child is humiliated, he feels that the superfluous, unnecessary, constant quarrels of the parents affect the psyche and, in order to somehow distract himself, he begins to find "happiness and peace" in drugs. Of course, he understands that this is not a way out of the current situation in the family, but they help him not to feel the negative atmosphere and refrain from quarrels and squabbles in the family.
    • Spiritual factor. A person who does not know who God is, does not see him as a helper and the Highest mentor, does not know what a sin is to use drugs, because in childhood he was not instilled in love and respect for God, the concepts of the Universe.
    • The psychological factor has an impact in the case when a person is constantly humiliated. He does not believe in himself, has lost his own "I", his self-esteem is low. To increase her, to establish himself in his own strength, he begins to take drugs that cloud his mind and give a deceiving sense of his own greatness and splendor. In this case, it is very difficult to give up drugs, because the patient understands that the refusal will lead to the previous state of mistrust in his own personality.
    • A physical or hereditary factor affects the case when a family member used drugs before the birth of the child. This leads to a high probability that the born child will follow in the footsteps of the parent. Only vigilant observation of the child will help him avoid the sad fate of a parent.

    The biology of addiction, or why an addict uses

    Many questions come from unfortunate people whose children or spouses have become drug addicts. And they wonder how this could have happened, because everything seemed to be fine.

    According to the Federal Drug Control Service, 80 people die from drug use in Russia every day, more than 250 people become drug addicts.

    There are many myths around this topic. Some say that drugs are because of poverty, others that the rich are mad with fat. Others see the cause in the drug mafia, although the drug mafia is a consequence, not a cause.

    It is wrong to look for the cause of addiction outside the person. The drug problem is a problem of the intellect and you need to understand why and in what cases a person becomes a drug addict.

    Brain trick

    You look at some and think:
    “Who can stand your brain?
    It would not hurt to bring it in at first "

    Drugs have accompanied humanity since ancient times. The ancients used opium as a medicine. Then they still did not understand the difference between the concepts of "relieve pain" and "cure a disease."

    In the 19th century, opium was sold in any pharmacy.

    Another drug was considered marijuana, which was used to treat gout and absent-mindedness.

    The discovery of America introduced Europeans to another drug - cocaine. Once again, cocaine has been accepted as a drug. It was officially sold in pharmacies as a cough suppressant. Indeed, patients who took cocaine immediately forgot about the cough.

    But gradually the doctors began to sound the alarm. The availability of drugs has led to the massive spread of drug addiction. A serious fight against drugs began quite recently - in the 1960s. In those years, another "medicinal" drug appeared - LSD. It was synthesized to fight depression. Sometimes doctors injected LSD even without the patient's knowledge. Soon there was a wave of suicide among those taking LSD. Then LSD was banned, and medicine began to study why and how people become drug addicts.

    What have the researchers come to?

    The sensations of a drug addict can easily be imagined by any person who has had a tooth treated with anesthesia. Novocaine is similar in composition to cocaine, but does not cause addiction. The sensations from their use are quite similar: tissue numbness and loss of sensitivity. If the patient comes in with acute pain, then the anesthetic provides relief. But if the teeth do not really hurt, then the sensations from novocaine cannot be called so pleasant.

    In everyday life, the sensation of tooth anesthesia is called "freezing".

    A drug is a freeze of personality.

    If a person is tormented by unpleasant thoughts, experiences, frustrations, then this is also a disease. Only a disease of the intellect. The drug eliminates such thoughts, and the person gains temporary peace of mind. But as soon as the effect of the drug wears off, the unpleasant thoughts return.

    But already together with the drug addict withdrawal. And the withdrawal of an addict is a combination of fever, vomiting, diarrhea and pain in all joints. Therefore, as soon as the addict "got on the needle", then there is no turning back. Depersonalization begins, that is, the loss of one's “I”, and soon the person turns into a “vegetable”.

    That is, the main reason for taking drugs is a person's desire to rid himself of unpleasant thoughts. And then a vicious circle begins. From taking drugs, the problems only multiply - so the addict increases the dose.

    What are the key signs that a person can take the drug route?

    Closing our eyes to problems

    If life is a game
    then why do I have
    this level of difficulty?

    There is an important difference between people at the moment when they face any difficulty. There are three response options:

    • First option. The man begins to figure out what happened.
    • Second option. The man is looking for help.
    • The third option. The person turns a blind eye to the problem.

    The third person has the greatest chance of becoming a drug addict.

    Any problem can be solved only if you look her in the face. But if you pretend that the problem does not exist, it only gets worse.

    The risk of addiction increases when searching
    any way of running away from problems.

    And here drugs are very dangerous, because they just burn out the brain along with the problem.

    A person becomes a drug addict who believes that there should be no problems in life. Any difficulty in a potential addict makes him want to shut down and run away. Therefore, a drug addict has only one method of "solving" problems - to inject and forget.

    Therefore, the best way to protect yourself from the drug swamp is to habitually look boldly. Do not hide from problems, but go to meet them.

    Unfortunately, now the hero of world culture is a person with pink glasses, who “everything is fine, everything is in a bundle, there are no problems”. Films, TV shows, songs, advertising - a very frivolous outlook on life is instilled everywhere:

    • Do not worry!
    • Relax!
    • Don’t Worry, Be Happy!

    As if from these spells problems will disappear.

    The problem of drug addiction is the result of the collision of the “pink” fictional life with the real one. First, the complaints start:

    • Life is not fair to me!
    • Why do I need all this?
    • I can not take it anymore!

    Prevention of drug addiction is an explanation of the fact that life is difficult and a person has problems every day. The only way to live a normal life is to activate your intellect and learn how to solve these problems. Other ways are a dead end.

    Therefore, if you see that your relative or acquaintance begins to behave like an ostrich burying its head in the sand, then be careful: there is a chance that he will start taking drugs.

    And if you have a tendency not to look at problems, then you are in danger of becoming addicted to drugs.

    So look at problems as a chance to become a person. The more serious the challenge, the more results you can achieve.

    Rejoice in any problem
    - and life will give only joy.

    Experienced narcologists and psychologists at the Osoznanie rehabilitation center in Novosibirsk are ready to tell you why people become drug addicts, which groups of the population suffer from drug addiction more strongly and who pushes them to this.

    Some statistics:

    people take drugs at least once a year

    a person suffering from drug addiction

    rubles are spent daily on drugs

    people die every year due to drug addiction

    Physiological causes

    How do you get addicted? The physiological reason leading to the formation of persistent drug dependence is the high production of the hormone of joy when taking them. Addiction to most psychoactive substances develops after 1-2 doses.

    The person remembers what pleasure and high he felt under the drug - this makes him use it over and over again. The difference between psychoactive substances and alcohol is a powerful psychotropic effect.

    Attention! There is a possibility that the predisposition to drug addiction is inherited, BUT an unambiguous decision on this issue has not been made.

    The development of physical dependence is evidenced by the pronounced withdrawal syndrome. Without the drug, a person feels severe muscle pain and cramps throughout the body, heart rate increases, and the risk of respiratory arrest or heart attack increases.

    Socio-psychological reasons

    The main reasons provoking drug use and the formation of drug addiction in adolescents and adults:

    Lack of parental love, need for attention and respect on their part

    The child's psychology is designed in such a way that he tries to do everything to attract the attention of his parents and feel warmth from them. Lack of love and care provokes children to look for other ways to stand out. Agree, because from early childhood a person knows that illness is a guarantee that they will take care of you. Some children find consolation in drugs, especially when they are not struggling with money.

    Curiosity, desire to try something new and different

    In adolescence, a person is in search of "himself", he understands that what the future will be depends on his actions today. The surrounding problems seem too serious and significant, and among the ways to hide from them, he singles out cigarettes, alcohol and drugs. Unfortunately, having "curious" once, a teenager can hardly give up the desire to re-experience pleasure and euphoria.

    Rebelliousness, the desire to demonstrate oneself

    Constant confrontation with problems in the family, at school or at work leads to the fact that a person withdraws into himself or seeks refuge elsewhere. Once in an unfavorable environment and under the influence of a bad company, only a few will be able to resist its pressure. The temptation is great and the risk is high, but who thinks about it when there is a need to declare oneself and rise in the eyes of others?

    Lack of a sense of responsibility, discipline

    The main risk group is children and adolescents, and not only from disadvantaged but also well-to-do families. What is the reason for this? In the absence of discipline. The life of most of them is based on selfishness and a complete lack of responsibility to the family and the rest of society. Such adolescents have overestimated demands on others, but they themselves cannot cope with any problem.

    Internal contradictions and conflicts

    Boredom, depression and lack of interest in life in adolescents and already mature adults lead to the fact that they turn to drugs. Low self-esteem, lack of friends and motivation, lack of confidence in themselves and their actions provoke the transition to the "forbidden path" of the use of psychoactive substances.

    Provoking factors

    The average age of addicts varies from 13 to 25 years old... Every year the bar goes down lower and lower under the influence of provoking factors. They encourage a person to try a drug for the first time, from which he subsequently cannot refuse.

    Among such provoking factors:

    • An asocial lifestyle. It becomes more popular every year in connection with the propaganda of nihilism and rebellion;
    • The desire to be like an idol (imitation) - they can be not only stars, but also charismatic peers;
    • Psychological or physical (including sexual) violence - drugs become a kind of way to escape reality.

    Prerequisites for drug addiction

    Who is the most common drug addict? The overwhelming majority of drug addicts are people who experience difficulties in their career or creativity, and are faced with a feeling of their own failure. Family scandals, personal turmoil and depression exacerbate the situation, forcing a person to seek outside support.

    For some, drugs represent an imaginary opportunity to realize themselves, to increase ambition, skills, creativity, intellectual and even physical abilities. Psychotropic substances allow you to sleep less, feel vigorous and active.

    How do you get addicted?

    Usually people are critical of their behavior: at least for the sake of their own safety, they try to comply with the rules accepted in society. And this, let's say, is not always easy and pleasant. And the first thing that is lost with the onset of drug use is a sense of self-control. The potential addict does not at all want to correlate his behavior with generally accepted norms. A person who was frankly unpleasant to conform to the generally accepted behavior, under the influence of the drug, experiences a feeling of getting rid of the shackles, on which, in fact, the main "high" is based. For this, everything is done - to be able to temporarily become a happy idiot and escape from the real world. Thus, the craving for such an escape and, as a result, for drugs appears in a person in two cases:

    1. if he personally seeks permissiveness
    2. if the frames into which they are trying to squeeze are too narrow.

    Then it becomes clear why teenagers (or infantile adults) become drug addicts more often. Here is both maximalism and protest behavior ...

    Due to the first reason (the desire for permissiveness) adolescents from completely polar families become drug addicts: either pedagogically neglected (no one gave a damn about him, and he did what he wanted all his childhood), or spoiled ones - when parents buy their children whatever they ask for and allow everything, what would come into his head.

    Thus, both those and other children simply do not know the word "no". And when they grow up and leave the framework of their family in society, there they first hear that they are not allowed something (and if they begin to allow themselves too much, they are punished). "Ah well?! - these children are indignant. - Well, I will not live in your vile society! " -and go into the world of drug illusions. Sometimes in this way they almost try to take revenge on their parents (according to the principle “in spite of the conductor I will buy a ticket and go on foot”). But for the second reason, children become drug addicts, who, on the contrary, were brought up in severity: do not go there, do not do this, speak only permitted words, keep your hands on the table strictly parallel ... And any "step to the right, step to the left" is followed by impressive and completely inadequate sanctions. Then the escape from reality will be, first of all, an escape from one's own family.

    It also happens that a child seemingly not spoiled and unmotivated goes into drugs, but only his father and mother have quietly hated each other for ten years now (and think that the child does not feel this), but they do not get divorced, because “we have to live together for the sake of children. " The child, as a barometer, very subtly senses the "weather in the house." And if there is constant pre-thunderstorm tension in the house, then children will eventually want to run away wherever they look - even into the world of drugs.

    Some kids in this situation are trying with their drug addiction ... just to attract the attention of their parents. They start, of course, with the usual hooliganism. But if the parents even then remain immersed in the state of their "cold war", the child throws himself into drugs. Moreover, in all such situations, if the family is practically gone, ostentatious reconciliation is always worse than divorce.

    Even adolescents with whom parents do not find a common language since childhood can go into drugs. Such a child, who has gone through the first school of communication in the family, will not be able to build adequate relationships in a team of peers. He will be forever lonely and will probably soon become a victim of drug dealers, who already have an eye for such lonely children. They will pity him, offer him friendship, and then, within the framework of this friendship, they will treat him to the first dose for free. And he will not be able to refuse "friends" whom he is so afraid of losing ...

    In other words, a drug addict does not always come from a family in which they drink, beat and rape (such, by the way, are a minority). The family of a young drug addict may well be outwardly prosperous and even very respectable.

    Drug addiction is easier to prevent than to cure. But a total ban is far from the best preventive measure. Every child is curious. If you suppress this curiosity and forbid EVERYTHING, forgive me, but a stupid, lack of initiative redneck will grow up. It is important to teach the child to satisfy his curiosity in safe ways. And the “forbidden fruit” syndrome around the same drugs against the background of adolescent protest will only fuel the craving for this “fruit”.

    If we talk about drugs with a child, then it should be said not only about harm, but also about attractiveness. Because the arguments of many drug dealers are: “Everyone says it’s bad because they’ve never tried it themselves. But you try and you will understand that this is a thrill! " It is necessary to explain to the child (and precisely to explain, and not to hammer in) that drugs are attractive only because they cause temporary dullness (with prolonged use, turning into permanent).

    Before protecting a child "from bad influence", especially when he has already fallen under this influence, one should understand: from what or from whom does he run away to drugs?

    Nowadays such a genre as "bad advice" has become popular. Here are some of these harmful tips for parents. If you want to raise a drug addict, then:

    1. either forbid him everything, or allow everything;
    2. punish him significantly for a minor offense (especially if you are in a bad mood) and slightly reprimand him for a serious offense (if you yourself are complacent). The main thing is to show the child the complete inadequacy and unpredictability of your actions;
    3. if you conduct educational conversations, do it as tedious, boring and sickening as possible. And if you don’t know how, don’t talk to the child at all;
    4. constantly show your child the discrepancy between your parenting principles and your own behavior. It is good, say, to have a conversation about the dangers of smoking with a cigarette in your teeth or talk about the culture of behavior while chomping at the table;
    5. when a child addresses you with a problem of his own, consider it insignificant and try to dismiss it;
    6. search the child's things, and display everything you find and expose to public condemnation and ridicule;
    7. and most importantly, consider the child your property and do whatever you want with him.

    Well, after all this, you can purchase the phones of drug treatment clinics and other similar institutions in advance!

    The person must be respected

    But seriously, a drug addict is not easy to cure just because he himself does not want to. For in most cases, they will try to get rid of chemical addiction, and not social decompensation. Previously, many treated drug addicts were forced to go to work, but this only spurred them to quickly return to their addiction. After all, drug addicts simply do not know how to live in our real world. They are not ready for the responsibility they will receive as soon as they recover. And if, moreover, they have to return to the former atmosphere of dictatorship, then why then flee from the "wonderful" world of drugs? In other words, there is no psychological motivation - there is no sustainable result.

    If you want, one of the cynical, but very effective ways to motivate a drug addict is to take from him for treatment money he earned himself, and not given by his parents. First, in this way he feels himself a respected person - at least in the doctor's office (as opposed to the oppression that he experienced in society). And secondly, as you know, whoever pays calls the tune. Today, in 99 percent of cases, it is not the addict himself who turns to the narcologist, but his relatives: they say, do so that he does not run away from us, return him to our dictate, make him obey us again ... But a person cannot be cured, say, from burns without removing from a burning building. So it is with drug addiction: you cannot get rid of it until its true cause is eliminated.

    Basic principles of getting rid of drug addiction

    First of all, you need to really WANT YOURSELF. If the treatment is carried out by the order of someone else, the result, if any, will be temporary. Then everything will start again.

    1. If you want your child to recover from drug addiction, start analyzing the situation with yourself and with your family relationships. Where and how were such conditions created in the family for the child to want to escape to the world of drugs? And before treating a child, these conditions should be changed.
    2. Remember that your child is a person. At the very least, you can’t take him to a narcologist by force. Teach him first of all to respect himself. In the meantime, a teenager is addicted, he respects only his own drug, and does not value himself as a person (even if drug addiction is a consequence of his extreme egocentrism).
    3. For a child to want to heal himself, he must see your full, happy life without drugs. And if you, the parents, are unhappy yourself, how can you prove to your child that life is a value and that living in the real world is better than in a narcotic one. Indeed, drug addiction is often nothing more than a latent suicide extended in time.
    4. But even his own desire to be cured cannot save the addict from the unaccountable craving for the drug. By the way, often the desire to recover is of a kind of half-hearted nature: yes, he would like to get rid of the unpleasant symptoms of addiction - from withdrawal, for example. But I don’t agree to get rid of the buzz. In this case, the main stage of treatment is to "pass" through the first manifestation of withdrawal symptoms, but as soon as he has experienced this first withdrawal, in no case should he be left to his own devices! The work of psychological adaptation and socialization should begin before the teenager has time to reach the next dose or begin to have fun with his unfortunate comrades with the memories of the past high.
    5. The process of getting rid of drug addiction is long, and it cannot be carried out like this: they put the child in some clinic - and off their shoulders. Throughout the entire treatment process, your child needs psychological support, especially yours. Even, rather, not support in the form of "moral crutches", but an incentive to become an adult and appreciate your intelligence. After all, if with your help a child finds his place in real life, he himself will shy away from drugs, because then they will interfere with him, not help him.

      How to identify a drug addict

      Now in many mass media with might and main list "signs of drug addiction", which can be used to determine that your child is a drug addict. Dear Parents! Most of these methods, alas, belong to a rather late stage of addiction. And if your child begins to study worse, eat more, lie recklessly, or you find a sooty spoon in his things, it is already difficult to apply any measures here. A more reliable early sign of possible addiction is any drastic change in your child's lifestyle. Let's say, he ate a lot - began to eat a little, or vice versa; was sociable - became withdrawn; went to bed late - now goes to bed early, etc. Or his interests, hobbies, character, preferences have changed ... Of course, for this you need to know well how and how your child lives.
