• What can be cooked from squid: quick and tasty

Wood has always been considered an environmentally friendly and safe material. Fine wood dust generated during the processing of a piece of wood is not as harmless as it might seem. Inhalation of it by no means contributes to the saturation of the body with useful microelements. Accumulating in the lungs and upper respiratory tract (and wood dust is not processed by the body), it slowly but effectively destroys respiratory system... Large chips constantly accumulate near machine tools and work tools. It is better to remove it immediately, without waiting for the appearance of insurmountable blockages in the space of the carpentry.

In order to maintain the required level of cleanliness in home carpentry, you can buy an expensive exhaust system, consisting of a powerful fan, cyclone, chip catchers, a container for chips and auxiliary elements. But the users of our portal are not those who are used to buying things that can be done with their own hands. Using their experience, anyone can assemble an exhaust system with the capacity to meet the needs of a small home workshop.

    Vacuum cleaner for collecting sawdust

Chip suction using a conventional household vacuum cleaner is the most a budget option of all existing solutions. And if you manage to use your old assistant for cleaning, who out of pity has not yet been thrown into the trash, then your inherent thrift has once again served you well.

    ADKXXI FORUMHOUSE user

My vacuum cleaner is more than fifty years old (brand - "Uralets"). It copes with the role of the chip sucker. He is heavy only, like my sins, but he knows how not only to suck, but also to blow. Sometimes I use this opportunity.

By itself, a household vacuum cleaner installed in a place of honor in the workshop as a chip sucker will be useless. And the main reason for this is the too small volume of the bag (container) for collecting dust. That is why there must be an additional unit between the vacuum cleaner and the machine. exhaust system, consisting of a cyclone and a volumetric tank for collecting sawdust.

    Osya FORUMHOUSE user

Easiest installationvacuum cleaner and cyclone. Moreover, you can use the most home vacuum cleaner. A separating cover can be used instead of a cyclone (cylindrical cone).

    DIY sawdust vacuum cleaner

The scheme of the chip suction we are considering is extremely simple.

The device consists of two main modules: a cyclone (pos. 1) and a container for chips (pos. 2). The principle of its operation is as follows: a vacuum is created in the cyclone chamber with the help of a vacuum cleaner. Due to the difference in pressure inside and outside the device, sawdust, together with air and dust, enter the inner cavity of the cyclone. Here, under the action of inertial forces and gravity, mechanical suspensions are separated from the air flow and fall into the lower container.

Let's consider the design of the device in more detail.

    Cyclone

The cyclone can be made in the form of a cover that is installed on top storage capacity, or you can simply combine these two modules. To begin with, consider the second option - a cyclone made in the body of a container for shavings.

First of all, we need to purchase a tank with a suitable volume.

    ForceUser FORUMHOUSE user,
    Moscow.

Capacity - 65 liters. I took it according to the principle - you need volume and convenience while carrying a filled container. This barrel has handles, which is very convenient for cleaning it.

Here is a list of additional elements and materials that we will need to assemble the device:

    • Screws, washers and nuts - for fastening the inlet pipe;
    • Sewer pipe section with cuffs;
    • Reducing coupling (from the sewer pipe to the suction pipe of the vacuum cleaner);
    • A gun with assembly glue.

Do-it-yourself barrel vacuum cleaner: assembly sequence

First of all, a hole is made in the sidewall of the tank for the inlet pipe, which will be located tangentially to the body. The figure shows a view from the outside of the tank.

It is advisable to install the branch pipe in the upper part of the plastic barrel. This will maximize cleaning performance.

From the inside, the inlet pipe looks like this.

The gaps between the pipe and the tank walls should be filled with assembly sealant.

At the next stage, we make a hole in the lid, insert the adapter sleeve there and carefully seal all the cracks around the pipe. Ultimately, the design of the chip suction will look like this.

The vacuum cleaner is connected to the upper outlet of the device, and the branch pipe, which removes the chips from the machine, is inserted into the side pipe.

As you can see, the presented design is not equipped with additional filters, which does not greatly affect the quality of air purification.

    day_61 FORUMHOUSE user

Made a chip suction based on the theme. The basis is a vacuum cleaner "Raketa" with a power of 400 W and a barrel with a volume of 100 liters. After assembly of the unit, tests were successfully carried out. Everything works as it should: sawdust is in the barrel, the vacuum cleaner bag is empty. So far, the dust collector is connected only to the router.

Whatever it was, but a cyclone still cannot stop a certain percentage of wood dust. And in order to bring the degree of purification to the maximum, some users of our portal are thinking about the need to install an additional fine filter. Yes, a filter is needed, but not every filter element will be suitable.

    Osya FORUMHOUSE user

I think that after the cyclone it is not quite right to put the fine filter after the cyclone. Rather, you need to put it on, but you will be tortured to clean it (very often you will have to). There, and just a filter cloth will roll (like a bag in a vacuum cleaner). In my Corvette, the top bag retains the bulk of the fine dust. I can see it when I take off the bottom sawdust bag.

A fabric filter can be created by attaching the frame to the top cover of the cyclone and covering it with dense material (you can use a tarp).

The main task of the cyclone is to remove sawdust and dust from the working area (from the machine, etc.). Therefore, the quality of air flow cleaning from fine suspensions plays a secondary role in our case. And, given that a standard dust collector installed in a vacuum cleaner will surely retain the remaining garbage (unfiltered by a cyclone), we will achieve the required degree of cleaning.

    Cyclone cover

As we already said, the cyclone can be made in the form of a lid that will be put on the storage tank. A working example of such a device is shown in the photo.

    Razor logs FORUMHOUSE user

The design should be clear from the photographs. The plastic was soldered with an ordinary soldering iron using a fine steel mesh. The cyclone is quite effective: when filling a 40-liter barrel, no more than a glass of debris accumulated in the vacuum cleaner bag.

Despite the fact that this cyclone is part of a home-made construction vacuum cleaner, it can be successfully introduced into the design of a joiner's chip sucker.

    Sawdust pipe

It is better to purchase the hoses connected to the chip suction from the vacuum cleaner. A plastic pipeline with smooth inner walls can be laid along the wall. It will connect the machine to the cyclone suction port.

A certain danger is static electricity, which is generated during the movement of sawdust through a plastic pipe: sawdust sticking to the walls of the pipeline, ignition of wood dust, etc. If you want to neutralize this phenomenon, it is better to do this during the construction of the sawdust pipeline.

Not all home workshop owners pay attention to the phenomenon of static electricity inside the sawdust pipe. But if you make the design of the chip suction in accordance with the rules fire safety, then a corrugation with a built-in metal conductor should be used as a sawdust conduit. Connecting such a system to the ground loop will help avoid problems during operation.

    alex_k11 FORUMHOUSE user

It is imperative to install grounding on plastic pipes. Hoses should be taken with a wire, otherwise static build-up is very strong.

And here is a solution for combating static electricity in plastic pipes offered by one of the FORUMHOUSE users: plastic pipe foil and connect it to the ground loop.

    Exhaust devices

The design of devices that remove chips directly from the working bodies of the joinery equipment depends on the features of the machines themselves. Therefore, products made of plastic, plywood and other suitable materials can be used as exhaust elements.

In order to solve this problem, the tank body can be equipped with a metal frame, or several metal hoops of a suitable diameter can be inserted inside (as suggested by the user alex_k11). The design will turn out to be more cumbersome, but absolutely reliable.

    Chip suction for multiple machines

The system based on a household vacuum cleaner has a low performance. Therefore, it can only service one machine at a time. In other words, if there are several machines, the suction pipe will have to be connected to them one by one. You can also install the chip suction unit centrally. But in order that the suction power does not fall, idle machines should be disconnected from common system using gates (dampers).

If a person has his own workshop, then one of critical issues it is worth cleaning the room. But unlike cleaning dust in an apartment, an ordinary household vacuum cleaner will not help here, since it is not designed for debris and sawdust - its garbage container (dust collector or bag) will clog up very quickly and become unusable. Therefore, a homemade cyclone filter is often used, which, together with a household vacuum cleaner, will help clean up the workshop.

    Introduction

Wood dust and other technical debris, although it seems harmless at first glance, in fact, are fraught with many different dangers, both for the master and for the equipment. For example, prolonged work without protective equipment that prevents dust from entering the respiratory system can cause serious complications with the respiratory tract, impair the sense of smell, etc. In addition, an instrument that is exposed to dust in a workshop can quickly fail. This is due to the fact that:

    1. dust, mixing with the lubricant inside the tool, forms a mixture that is completely unsuitable for lubricating moving parts, which as a result leads to overheating and further breakdown
    2. dust can impede the rotation of the moving parts of the tool, which leads to additional loads, overheating and failure,
    3. dust clogs the air ducts designed to ventilate the heated parts of the tool and remove heat from them, resulting in overheating, deformation and failure of them again.

Thus, the issue of the quality of removal of sawing products and, in general, cleaning the room is very acute. Modern power tools are equipped with systems for removing dust and chips directly from the sawing area, which prevents dust from spreading throughout the workshop. In any case, a vacuum cleaner (or chip sucker) is needed for the dust removal process!

There are good industrial vacuum cleaners and if possible, it is better to choose the most the best option for the price and quality and buy a construction vacuum cleaner.

Nevertheless, there are times when there is already a household vacuum cleaner and it is easier to upgrade it and solve the problem of collecting construction waste indoors. To do this, you need to use a cyclone filter - it is done in half an hour with all the necessary elements.

    Principle of operation

There are a great many different designs of cyclones, but all of them are united by the same operating principle. All designs of cyclonic chip suckers consist of three main parts:

    • Household vacuum cleaner
    • Cyclone filter
    • Garbage collection container

Its design is such that the flow of the intake air is directed in a circle and its rotational movement is obtained. Accordingly, a centrifugal force acts on the construction waste contained in this air stream (these are large and heavy fractions), which presses it against the walls of the cyclone chamber and, under the action of gravity, it gradually settles in the tank.

Disadvantage cyclone vacuum cleaner is that only dry garbage can be collected in this way, but if there is water in the garbage, then there will be problems with the absorption of such a substance.

The vacuum cleaner must be powerful enough, since in its normal operation it is supposed to suck in air through a standard hose. If an additional cyclone filter is used, an additional filter appears in the air path, and the total length of the duct is more than doubled due to the additional duct. Since the design is as maneuverable as a separate vacuum cleaner, the length of the last hose should be sufficient for comfortable work.

    Preparatory work

As mentioned above, you can make a cyclone filter for a workshop in half an hour, but for this you need to check the availability of everything you need to make a chip sucker with your own hands, namely: tools, materials and consumables.

    Instruments

For the production of work, tracking tools will be needed:

    1. electric drill,
    2. screwdriver,
    3. jigsaw,
    4. compass,
    5. clamps,
    6. Phillips screwdriver,
    7. pencil,
    8. for wood (50-60mm),
    9. kit .

    Materials and fasteners

    Materials can be used both new and used, so carefully review the list below - you may already have something in stock;

    1. The air duct (hose) for the vacuum cleaner is corrugated or in a textile braid.
    2. A sewer pipe with a diameter of 50 mm and a length of 100–150 mm, at one end of which the air duct of your household vacuum cleaner must be inserted.
    3. Sewer outlet 30 or 45 degrees, 100-200 mm long, at one end of which the air duct specified in clause 1 will be inserted in the future.
    4. Bucket ("large") plastic 11-26 liters with a hermetically sealed lid.
    5. Bucket ("small") plastic 5-11 liters. Note. It is important that the difference between the two maximum diameters of the buckets is about 60–70 mm.
    6. Sheet 15–20 mm thick. Note. The sheet size must be larger than the maximum diameter of the Large Bucket.
    7. Self-tapping screws for wood with a flat wide head and a length of 2/3 of the thickness.
    8. Gel sealant is universal.

    Making a cyclone filter

Creating a homemade chip sucker consists of a number of stages:

    1. Create anchor ring and shaped insert
    2. Installing the retaining ring
    3. Installing the side pipe
    4. Top entry setting
    5. Installing curly insert
    6. Assembling the cyclone filter

Create anchor ring and shaped insert

It is necessary to cut off the side of the small bucket, which is used to fasten the lid. As a result, you should get such a cylinder (well, a little on a cone).

We do the markup - we put a small bucket on and draw a line along the edge - we get a circle.

Then we determine the center of this circle (see the school geometry course) and mark another circle, the radius of which is 30 mm larger than the existing one. Then we mark out the ring and the curly insert, as shown in the figure.

    Installing the retaining ring

We fix the ring on the edge of the small bucket so that we get a side. We fix it with self-tapping screws. It is advisable to pre-drill the holes so as not to split.

We mark the roof of the large bucket. For marking, you need to put the bucket itself on the lid of a large bucket and circle its outline. It is better to do the markings with a felt-tip pen, since the trace is clearly visible.

It is important to note that all joints must be sealed, respectively, before installing the cover, you need to coat the joint with a sealant. You also need to grease the junction of the wooden ring and the small bucket.

    Installing the side pipe

The side pipe is made from a sewer outlet of 30 degrees (or 45 degrees). To install it, you need to drill a hole in the upper part of the small bucket with a crown. Note that the bottom of the small bucket is now the top.

    Top entry setting

To make the top entry, you need to drill a hole in the upper part of the chip sucker (small bucket), that is, in the center of the former bottom.

To firmly fix the inlet pipe, you need to use an additional strength element in the form of a 20 mm thick square billet with a central hole for a 50 mm pipe.

The fixing of this workpiece is carried out from below with four self-tapping screws. Before installation, for tightness, the joint must be greased with a sealant.

    Installing curly insert

Curly insert - very important component homemade chip sucker, it must be fixed inside the cyclone filter, as shown in the photo.

    Assembling the cyclone filter

Then it is necessary to correctly connect the air ducts:

    1. Upper branch pipe - to a household vacuum cleaner
    2. Angled elbow entering at an angle from the side - to the hose.

Homemade cyclone vacuum cleaner (chip sucker) is ready.

    About filters.
The cyclone filter does not retain more than 97% of dust. Therefore, additional filters are often added to them. From English "HEPA" translates as High Efficiency Particulate Air "- a filter for airborne particles.

Agree that even you cannot imagine your life without such necessary equipment how is the vacuum cleaner? They handle not only dust, but also dirt.

Of course, vacuum cleaners can be used not only at home, but they are also different: rechargeable, washing, pneumatic. As well as automobile, low-voltage industrial, knapsack, gasoline, etc.

The principle of operation of the cyclone vacuum cleaner

James Dyson is the first creator of the cyclonic vacuum cleaner. His first creation was, G-Force in 1986.

A little later in the 1990s, he filed a petition for the manufacture of cyclones and has already assembled his center for the creation of vacuum cleaners. In 1993, his first vacuum cleaner went on sale - known as the "Dayson DC01".
So how does this cyclone-type miracle work?

It looks like creator James Dyson was a wonderful physicist. Due to centrifugal force, it is involved in dust collection.

The device is two-chamber and it is divided into two types - external and internal. The air that swirls inside the dust collector moves upward, as if in a spiral.

By law, large grains of dust fall into the outer chamber, and everything else remains in the inner chamber. And the cleaned air comes out of the dust collector through filters. This is how cyclone vacuum cleaners work.

Vacuum cleaners with cyclone filter, features

Don't go with those models that require little power. You will definitely not like this kind of cleaning and most likely want to throw such a device away.

Do not waste your money, but take the purchase of a vacuum cleaner more seriously. One has only to contact the seller, a consultant and he will help you with the choice of this or that vacuum cleaner.

The device should be chosen, which is 20-30% more powerful than a bag vacuum cleaner. It is best to take the one with a power of 1800 watts. Almost all manufacturers of vacuum cleaners produce models with this filter, which is good news.

    Pros of cyclone dust collectors

1.Everyone, probably, this happened when an item you need accidentally ended up in a dust collector? Now this is not a problem because it is transparent! And you can always notice objects that need to be pulled out of there as soon as possible.

This is one of the most important advantages.

    2. The power of such vacuum cleaners is maximum and does not reduce the speed and power, even with a clogged container. Cleaning is much more pleasant, power does not drop, cleaning is cleaner.

Such a vacuum cleaner is capable of retaining much more than you imagine. Up to 97% !!! Not likely, right? Although some are unhappy with this result, as they prefer vacuum cleaners with a water filter.

    3. Buying a cyclone vacuum cleaner, you not only make a bargain, but also save storage space, as its weight is quite light. You don't have to carry heavy things.

    4. No need to constantly change paper bags for a vacuum cleaner.

    5. Power. She is not lost from fullness.

    6. It can be thoroughly rinsed with water and dried.

    Cons of cyclone dust collectors

    1. One of the disadvantages of these vacuum cleaners is not very pleasant. This is washing and cleaning the filter. Of course, you do not have to brush the container every day with a brush, but still, this is one of the disadvantages. Laziness is present in every person. Yes, of course it is unpleasant to face the fact that you need to get your pens dirty.

    2. Noise. The noise from this type of vacuum cleaner is much more than from the usual one.

    3. Power consumption. It is also much higher than that of a conventional vacuum cleaner. This is a small tornado.

Whether to buy this little miracle or not is up to you. In fact, all of its advantages overlap those not many of its disadvantages. The cleanliness in the house is much more pleasant than the unfinished tidy, won't you agree?

    Personal impressions

Compared to the old vacuum cleaner, the cyclone dust collector looks rather modest in size. It is impossible to believe that such a baby is capable of anything serious. Now the old vacuum cleaner can only be used for wet cleaning.

I take out the accessories, at the first use, insert a pipe not large in diameter, turn on the device, and that's what really surprises, the brush cleans carpets much better than my previous assistant.

He cleans everything. Dirt, hair of our pets. Previously, you had to make no small efforts to cope with such "now little things."

I have laminated flooring in the hallway and it was just as easy to clean. The fact is that I have another brush in stock, harder than the previous one for carpets, so I coped with this task so easily. You know, and the sound of this vacuum cleaner is not as loud as they wrote about it on the Internet.

I am pleased with this device because it is light and not so loud. I also liked the compartment for storing all the necessary attachments, it is very convenient that it is built into the vacuum cleaner itself.

Once I knew what this little tornado is capable of, it was time to clean the container. Thank God, when I began to shake out the garbage from the dust collector, it fell in dense large lumps.

Since the debris has been compacted by the air flow. No dust balls are visible, and he did not rise into the air! This is how I finished my first cleaning with my cyclonic vacuum cleaner. I washed the container and the cleaning is over!

    Cyclone for vacuum cleaner photo

All vacuum cleaners are designed for one purpose - cleanliness. It is about all vacuum cleaners
Industrial and construction vacuum cleaners usually used on machines or for cleaning any premises. These vacuum cleaners are expensive, since the principle of operation of the cyclone filter vacuum cleaner must be selected carefully.
You should also know that most often industrial devices are used for repairs and construction. Leave your workplace you need to be clean.

Do-it-yourself cyclone, made of transparent plastic video

Construction work is carried out after its preparation and surface cleaning. As you understand, General cleaning cannot be done with an ordinary vacuum cleaner. In other words, it is fraught with breakdown of the apparatus.
Even small debris such as sand, oil, dry mixtures, powder abrasives and wood shavings are designed only for an industrial vacuum cleaner.
If you suddenly go to choose a vacuum cleaner for construction works, then be sure to clarify the types of pollution with which he will encounter.
Are you planning to use a vacuum cleaner in a repair environment? Then consider the option of a cyclone for a vacuum cleaner with your own hands. There are many examples of how this kind of vacuum cleaner can be made.

Do-it-yourself cyclone for a vacuum cleaner

    1. In order to make such a vacuum cleaner yourself, you will need a Ural PN-600 vacuum cleaner, a plastic bucket (even suitable for paint), a 20 cm long and 4 cm diameter nozzle.
    2. The nameplate is also unscrewed, and the holes must be sealed.
    3. The branch pipe is rather thick and will not fit into the hole, therefore it is necessary to grind off the rivets with a grinder and remove the fasteners of the branch pipe. Before that, remove the springs with clamps. Wrap electrical tape on the plug and insert onto the plug.
    4. Make a hole at the bottom with a drill in the middle. Then expand it to 43 mm with a special tool.
    5. To seal it, cut out gaskets with a diameter of 4 mm.
    6. Then you need to fold everything, bucket lid, gasket, centering pipe.
    7. Now we need self-tapping screws 10 mm long and 4.2 mm in diameter. Self-tapping screws will require 20 pieces.
    8. From the side of the bucket, cut a hole along the suction pipe. The angle of the cut should be 10-15 degrees.
    9. Try on and edit the shape of the hole using special scissors that cut into metal.
    10. Do not forget that inside, too, you need to try on. Also, from the inside, leave strips for self-tapping screws.
    11. Using a marker, mark the hole in the bucket and cut off any excess material with scissors. Secure the nipple to the outside of the bucket.
    12. To seal everything, use a 30x bandage. From an ordinary first aid kit and glue like "titanium" for styrofoam. Wrap the bandage around the nipple and saturate with glue. Preferably more than once!
    13. While the glue dries, you can check how this vacuum cleaner will work. Turn on the vacuum cleaner and load it, blocking the nozzle with the palm of your hand. When checking the operation of the vacuum cleaner, the sealing process and connection with the nozzle are improved. It is unlikely that he will soon become obsolete.
    14. The vacuum cleaner is best stored in a bag.

Very often, after repair and construction work, there is a lot of debris and dust that can only be removed with a powerful vacuum cleaner. Since an ordinary household appliance is not suitable for these purposes, a filter for which may be homemade is used. How to make a cyclone for a vacuum cleaner with your own hands so that the unit can effectively cope with cleaning construction dust?

Those whose work is constantly related to repair, construction and carpentry are not hearsay familiar with the problem of cleaning the premises after the completion of the direct work. Construction wood dust, crumbling plaster, the smallest grains of foam and drywall usually settle in a dense layer on all horizontal surfaces of the room. It is not always possible to wipe it by hand or sweep it with a broom, because when large area such cleaning will take a long time. Wet cleaning is also often impractical: a mixture of water and thick dust is even more difficult to wipe off.

In this case, the optimal solution is vacuum cleaner application... The standard vacuum cleaner that we are used to in everyday life will not work. Firstly, due to the large amount of debris, the dust container will instantly clog, and you will need to clean it at least once every 15-20 minutes. Secondly, the ingress of large particles, such as debris, sawdust or chips, can cause clogging or complete malfunction of the device.

A construction vacuum cleaner is much higher than a household one. The features of its engine ensure long-term operation, and the presence of a long hose (3-4 m and more) allows cleaning a vast area.

However, industrial and construction vacuum cleaners are large in size, are not very convenient to use, clean and move, and are not affordable for everyone. Therefore, many craftsmen increase the capabilities of a household vacuum cleaner by supplying it with a special cyclone filter. Such dust collectors can be purchased either ready-made or assembled your own version.

    We make a cyclone ourselves

On the worldwide network, you can find many detailed diagrams and drawings of cyclones. Let's give an example of making a simple filter that can be assembled at home, having necessary materials, patience and a little knack. For work you will need:

    • Any oil filter for small debris (these can be purchased at auto supply stores).
    • Container for 20-25 liters with a tightly screwed lid.
    • Polypropylene elbow with 45 ° and 90 ° angles.
    • The pipe is about a meter long.
    • Corrugated hose 2 meters long.
    1. Punch a hole in the lid of the main container. Hole width adapts to polypropylene 90 ° elbow.
    2. Close existing gaps with sealant.
    3. Make another hole on the side wall of the container and attach a 45 ° angle.
    4. Connect the corrugated hose and elbow with a pipe. Tilt the outlet hose towards the bottom so that the air with debris is directed along the required path.
    5. You can put on the filter material made of nylon or other permeable fabric in a fine mesh. This will prevent large particles from entering the filter.
    6. Next, connect the elbow on the cover and the filter outlet.

Of course, this is only a short and approximate scheme for creating a cyclone. We present to your attention a video, where in detail and with an illustrative example it is shown how to make a filter from scrap materials.

We check the made filter for tightness, as well as for the quality of suction. Garbage should be collected at the bottom of the container or settle on the walls.

If everything is assembled correctly, the suction will be efficient and at high speed.

The creator of the cyclone vacuum cleaner was the physicist James Dyson. It was he who first developed the compact dust separator (or filter), operating on the principle of centrifugal force. He established a patent for his invention, the G-Force vacuum cleaner, in 1986. Later, in the early 1990s, Dyson launched the Dayson DC01, which entered the global market. What was the success of this technological innovation?

The cyclone filter is an assembly of two chambers: external and internal. Under the influence of centrifugal force, all elements entering the vacuum cleaner (dust, debris, shavings, etc.) begin to spirally... That is why the universal cyclone filter for a vacuum cleaner has the shape of a cone: the dust in it swirls like in a funnel. In this case, large particles of debris settle in the first, outer chamber, and small ones remain on the inner side. Thus, thoroughly cleaned air comes out of the vacuum cleaner through the upper opening.

    Filter advantages:

    1. No need for containers and disposable dust bags and endless replacement.
    2. Compactness.
    3. Quiet work.
    4. If the filter housing is transparent, it can be checked for contamination.
    5. High efficiency.

A vacuum cleaner with such a filter is quite versatile and suitable for both home use and industrial premises.

Having built a cyclone filter with your own hands, you can easily make and.

A home vacuum cleaner is so common in the household that no one thinks about the principle of its operation. Since the invention of this assistant in cleaning premises, it has been used only possible way separating dust from clean air- filter.

Over the years, the filter element has been improved, from a banal bag made of thick tarpaulin, it has turned into high-tech membranes that retain the smallest particles of debris. At the same time, it was not possible to get rid of the main drawback.

Filter designers are constantly looking for a compromise between mesh density and air throughput. In addition, the more contaminated the membrane, the worse the air flow through it.
30 years ago, physicist James Dyson made a breakthrough in dust extraction technology.

He invented a compact dust separator based on the principle of centrifugal force. I must say that this idea was not new. Industrial sawmills have been using cyclone-type centrifugal collectors of opal and shavings for a long time.

But no one thought to apply this physical phenomenon in everyday life. In 1986 he registered a patent for the first cyclone vacuum cleaner, called G-Force.

In general, there are three ways to separate dust from clean air:

    1. Filtering membrane. The most massive and cheap way remove dust. It is used in most modern vacuum cleaners;
    2. Water filter... Air with debris passes through a container of water (like in a hookah), all particles remain in the liquid medium, and a perfectly clean air flow enters the outlet. Such devices gained popularity, but their use did not become widespread due to their high cost.
    3. Centrifugal dry filter of the "cyclone" type. It is a compromise in terms of cost and quality of purification in comparison with a membrane and a water filter. Let us dwell on this model in more detail.

    How the cyclone works

The illustration shows the processes taking place in the cyclone filter chamber.

Contaminated air enters the cylindrical filter housing (2) through the branch pipe (1). The branch pipe is located tangentially to the walls of the housing, due to which the air flow (3) is twisted into a spiral along the walls of the cylinder.

Under the action of centrifugal force, dust particles (4) are pressed against the inner walls of the housing, and under the influence of gravity they settle into the dust collector (5). Air with the smallest particles of debris (which are not affected by centrifugal force) enters the chamber (6) with a conventional membrane filter. After final cleaning, they exit into the intake fan (7).

The membrane filter is minimally contaminated and only needs to be cleaned occasionally after cleaning. All the dirt is simply poured out of the drive, and the vacuum cleaner is ready to work again.

Vacuum cleaners with such a filter are cheaper than water vacuum cleaners, but still more expensive in comparison with membrane ones. Therefore, many craftsmen make a cyclone-type filter with their own hands, and connect it to the entrance to an ordinary vacuum cleaner.
