• What can be cooked from squid: quick and tasty

In winter, ice falls are common. In most cases, you get up and continue on your way, but a huge number of cases are known when a person slipped on the ice and broke his arm, leg or even spine. Such adventures will not be beneficial, so the ice must be removed at least near your home.

If the snow can be removed easily enough with a snowplow, then ice removal will be a little more difficult. You will need the desire to remove it and a few hours of free time. This will not only add to your comfort while walking. Clearing ice will allow you to pump up your muscles and recharge your energy for the next day.

For cleaning, we need an ordinary snow shovel, a small crowbar about 150 centimeters long and an uncomplicated tool, which consists of an ax butt and a 160 centimeters long pipe, to the end of which the butt needs to be welded.

First of all, you need to clear the weight of the snow so that the surface of the ice is not hidden by it. Snow should be immediately thrown out from the entire area that you plan to clear of ice. After removing the snow, we take an ordinary crowbar in our hands and hammer a small piece of ice to the asphalt or any other surface. Thus, you need to peel a piece measuring about 45x45 centimeters. This is done so that you yourself do not fall and injure yourself, but simply stand on a hard, and most importantly, not slippery surface.

After the site is ready, we put the crowbar to the side and take the tool, consisting of an ax and a pipe, in our hands. Let's call it an icebreaker. We begin with its help to break off pieces of ice with single blows. You need to hit at such a distance that the ice breaks off freely, and you do not have to hit again. After a dozen other chipped off parts, you need to use a shovel to throw away the ice from an already clean area and throw it away.

Thus, a fairly large area of the yard can be cleaned in a few hours. If this method does not suit you, or the ice is not yet so thick to be chipped off, ordinary salt will come to your aid, which happily eats away both snow and ice. However, there is one drawback, salt also corrodes the metal of your car and spoils your shoes. A bag of ordinary table salt, of the lowest quality, respectively the cheapest, mix it with sand bags and sprinkle all slippery areas in the yard with an ordinary shovel. The minimum layer of such a sprinkle should be 3-5 millimeters. The salt will slowly eat away at the ice, and the sand will keep you from slipping while the salt is working. Here is such a mutual assistance between salt and sand. By the way, the reagent that is allegedly sprinkled on our roads is most often sand and salt.

Here are all the simplest and effective ways fighting ice in the yard. You don't need to invent anything, you just need to work for an hour, according to the well-known scheme.

Do not forget about the children's skating rinks, which were first flooded, and then rolled out by children from all over the yard. Having destroyed such a skating rink, children will consider you their enemy for more than one day, and possibly more than one year.

Winter is a magical time of the year. There are snowdrifts around, and in the evenings a blizzard and a blizzard. Besides, very soon New Year and Christmas are holidays that must be celebrated. But at the same time, the risk of injury and road accidents increases in winter. And all because of the icy roads. This is the fault of both highways and tiles in a private house.

And if ice is removed in the city, then residents of private houses or summer cottages need to rely on their strength. Today we will touch upon a relevant topic - ice and how to get rid of it altogether.

With snow, everything is clear, a shovel or a snowplow is enough. We already wrote about the snowblower in this article, so check it out. And we'll talk about ice.

    Salt

Salt is the most effective and widely used method of ice control today. It perfectly "melts" ice, and its cost is low. Alas, this method has its drawbacks. Firstly, if it is very cold outside and the temperature reaches -15, then sodium chloride will not cope with its task. But if you treat the surface with a saline solution before the onset of frost, then the efficiency will increase and it will be easier to deal with ice.

Secondly, salt as a deliverer is not suitable for concrete or tiles, because it contributes to the destruction of the walkway or porch. In addition, salt can negatively affect pets' shoes and paw pads. And in terms of ecology, this is not the best option.

    Sand and stone chips

Sand is a good option and can be sprinkled on paths. But its cost is high and it is unlikely that it will be possible to buy one bucket. As a rule, the sand is ordered by car. If you manage to get 1-2 buckets, then you can safely sprinkle the path, but remember that this is not for long. A strong wind will easily blow away small particles, and if it rains and frost hits again, then the sand will freeze and there will be little sense. But as an alternative to salt, there is a place to be.

Stone chips have the same advantages as sand, but it also adopted its disadvantages. Will hold on until the first strong wind or rain.

    Swiss BAA method

In 2004, a scientist from Switzerland came up with an interesting method of dealing with ice. In order to process the highway, it is necessary to take fine sand and mix it with a very hot water(95 degrees). The proportions are 7: 3. Then, using special equipment you need to spray the sand.

The principle of the method is as follows: a hot mixture is melted into snow and ice, making it rough. As a result, the roads are not slippery. The disadvantage of this method is the price of equipment, but if you know an analogue and can spray the solution with something, then try it.

    Chlorides and urea

In Canada, the USA and New Zealand, chlorides are often used as an alternative to common salt. One such ice breaker is magnesium chloride. It is indeed very effective, but the cost is high and the destruction will be even greater. Calcium chloride is safe for the environment, but ineffective, especially when very low temperatures... This also applies to urea, which, by the way, is seven times more expensive than salt. But to sprinkle a small porch in the house might come up. But for roadways in the city, it is not effective.

How to sprinkle ice paths in the country and should it be done?

If you ask this question to an ecologist, the answer will be unequivocal - nothing. But this is not always safe. Therefore, you need to look at the circumstances. The most accessible method, but requiring physical strength, is to "cut" the ice with the help of a crowbar. This is both effective and will not harm the environment. True, if there is a lot of ice, then it will be difficult to cope.

One of the popular folk methods is to pour hot water over the ice. The effect will of course be, but the weather will take its toll and the water will freeze again. So the method is highly questionable. But the second is much better. You will need water - 2 liters, and 150-250 ml of vodka or alcohol. As well as the usual detergent(from 100 ml and more). Mix everything and fill the area with ice. Wait and start chopping off the ice. Works as good as salt.

As for non-freezing liquids, then everything is controversial. They work, of course, but they do not completely penetrate the ice and it will take about 10 liters to get rid of the thick layer. So whether it is worth it, you decide.

If you live in a private house and you have a stove or boiler that you heat with coal, wood, then another option is ash. What to sprinkle on the tracks, if not it? Of course, the ice from the ash will not go anywhere and after that you have to remove it, but you can walk safely.

So, let's summarize. If you don't know how to remove ice from paving slabs or what to sprinkle on it, then there are not many options - sand, and no salt, if you do not want it to corrode it. For summer cottages and houses where the yard is not paved with anything, anything is suitable. If you do not think about the state environment, then, perhaps, the salt will be the best option... Both clean from the pack and saline solution. Only a lot of salt will be needed, at least 2-3 packs.

Winter has not yet arrived (at least the calendar winter), and the first signs of it have already appeared. Although there are regions of our country, and there are quite a few of them, where the snow has already fallen, and the frosts have been serious.

We, for example, have only frosts so far, however, not to say that they are strong, but there is no snow at all. But even in frosts and without snow, it often happens that ice forms on the paths near the house.

It needs to be processed with something in order to do not slip ... If you do not pay attention to it and wait until it melts by itself, then there is a high probability that you yourself will slip on it. And it will lie for a long time, and greatly complicate your movement along the paths near the house. So, you still have to process it with something.

How to sprinkle ice? Walkway, steps, porch or paving stone

This is really a problem for those who live in their own home. Although we all walk along the streets, which very often are simply not processed on ice. But this is already a problem for utilities.

After all, on your own you will not process the entire street from ice. Another thing is your house and the paths on which you walk every day. There is already no one to hope for and you will have to look for a remedy yourself that will help you melt the ice, or at least make it porous and not slippery.

    Basic ways

What do we usually sprinkle the paths, porch or paving slabs around the house? The first option is to simply pour boiling water over the path. But this can only solve the problem during a thaw.

Yes, the ice will melt after some time, and if the path has a slope, then the water will drain from it, and after the next frost it will not freeze for some time. This method can be adopted.

Many people sprinkle salt on the paths. She, of course, quickly "eats" the ice, but only from the salt the path itself collapses just as quickly. Whether it is paving stones, paving slabs, or just a concrete path that you have poured with your own hands.

In addition, you will carry the salt home on your shoes. From this, and at the same time something else is already in the house. Sprinkling ice with salt is an interesting and effective activity, but extremely undesirable. This also includes any mixtures against ice, which contain salt or other reagents similar in effect.

Another option, which is as often used as salt treatment of paths, is the use of sand. Here, it seems to us, everything is very simple. The sand will lie on the ice and we will no longer fall off the porch or other surface on which ice has formed.

In principle, everything is correct. But sand is very often simply blown off the ice by the wind. And if he lingers on it in a small amount, then the problem no longer solves. If you pour a lot of sand, then we will again "drag" it all home on the shoes, which we also do not need.

Simple and versatile ice curing agent

There is a very simple tool that will help you quickly remove ice from any surface without damaging it. Whether it is a path with any surface (paving stones, paving slabs, asphalt), steps or a porch.

Often, ice freezes there and it is not possible to remove it with a shovel, but hammering with a crowbar is also not an option. Melting the ice, meanwhile, can be done with a fairly simple tool.

To prepare it we need warm water. We will take water in this case 2 liters. We will add any liquid detergent with which you wash the dishes.

Just 6 drops are enough (you can, of course, and more, there will be no harm). And in this amount of water, you will need to pour in another 60 grams of alcohol.

If you do not mind 100 grams, then pour 100. These are all the components of our ice melting product. Then we mix everything well and you can use it. Conveniently pour it into plastic bottle, for example, and further, pour ice from it.

As they say, if you pour ice on the track with this tool, it will melt very quickly. You will not need any salt, sand and other reagents for this.

As a theater begins with a coat rack, so does any private house starts from the porch. Before getting inside, you need to take a few steps up the steps and only then grab the doorknob.

If such an ordinary procedure does not draw attention to itself, everything is in order with the porch. Because any mistake or defect in the process of operation immediately catches the eye. This is especially evident when proper care of the porch is not provided in winter. The door starts to open and close poorly, the steps become slippery, ice forms and snow accumulates. All this can lead to very sad consequences.

The ideal situation is when the future owner of the house begins to think about the problems of icing the porch in advance. Then they can be solved more efficiently and in several ways.

Safety during the construction phase of the house

    - only part of the case. Ensuring the safety of households and guests is the main task. Although it is she who is most often neglected.

If the question of the safety of the porch has begun to be addressed, then before facing and laying the topcoat, it must be laid in its base.

For tiled and stone surfaces, an electric cable is suitable, and for wooden steps you can use the system plastic pipes with non-freezing circulating heat carrier. Moreover, it is necessary to provide heating not only on the surface of the porch and steps, but also on the paths.

This solution will keep the surface always dry and clean. On warm floor even in winter, snow does not accumulate, it melts, and the water dries up without turning into ice.

Sectional electric underfloor heating installation diagram

Are presented on the market as budget options heating systems and comfort class options. The former must be turned on manually and they work continuously until the power is turned off. The more expensive offer is equipped with an intelligent system with the possibility of self-regulation. Heating elements independently assess the air temperature, humidity, amount and quality of precipitation and select the appropriate operating mode.

    Security solutions for ready-made structures

If the porch is already ready, and there is no desire to disassemble it, but there is enough time before winter, then you can use the following solutions:

The installation of such a visor over the porch is shown in the video

Safe porch in a matter of hours

It is possible to solve the problem of porch icing during the "hot" season, that is, directly in winter. Faced with slippery steps, as they say, nose to nose, you can also use several methods to choose from.

    The tried and tested way

Manual cleaning will always remain relevant. In the absence of time and other special materials, you can clean the porch of ice with your hands. A shovel, crowbar and broom can be found in the back room of any private house.

However, wielding a heavy tool can damage the porch lining: smash tiles, chip off a stone, or cut varnish coating and even pieces of wood. Therefore, you need to work extremely carefully so that the whole group does not have to be restored in the spring.

    Electric porch heating

At the time of cold weather, you can install a special powerful heat gun above the porch or infrared heater... They will perform the same function as the underfloor heating installed during the construction phase. The infrared heater will exclusively heat the steps and floor of the porch, and heat gun will also create a curtain that will not allow cold air to enter the house when opening the door. Moreover, it is not at all necessary to force this equipment to work 24 hours a day. It is enough to turn them on every day for a couple of hours and when there is a lot of precipitation.

    Electric heat gun

    Installing anti-slip pads

These can be special rugs, stripes, roll material, adhesive tapes. There are many solutions to this problem on the market today. The owners just have to choose the option that suits the color, design and fastening method.

The chemical method for cleaning the porch

Snow on the porch can be removed with chemicals... Both special reagents and folk methods such as salt. With the help of liquids and powders, both freshly fallen snow and a thick crust of ice can be removed. The main thing is to choose the right means to combat precipitation. Fast, efficient and effortless. However, this procedure must be repeated regularly.

Not all types of cladding can withstand the aggressive effects of chemicals.

Before opening the bottle, you need to carefully study the instructions. Well, the remnants of ice and snow, chemical preparations will not be able to put anywhere, that is melt water and the dirt will have to be removed by hand.

Regardless of which porch leads into the house, making it safe at any time of the year is every homeowner's first priority. Even the most expensive and beautiful porch will not turn a fall into a pleasant and joyful procedure. Functionality and practicality in this case will come first.

Scares you ice in winter? Afraid of falling and hurting yourself? There are even such situations: in the daytime the weather still pleases us with its temperature, even the sun warms a little. But the temperature at night often drops by a certain number of degrees below zero. As a result, ice forms on the roads in the morning. And it is really difficult to avoid it. There are many ways to help you walk on ice safely. If you leave this unattended, then there is a huge chance that you will slip. And the ice itself will significantly complicate road travel. It is for this reason that it is simply necessary.

How to sprinkle ice in winter

In winter, this is indeed one of the most basic problems for those who live in a private home. But those who live in apartments often walk on ice that is not processed by anything. However, this is already a problem directly related to utilities, which are responsible for its solution. The private sector, on the paths of which you walk every day, is a completely different matter. And it is very stupid to not take care of its own safety.

Basic ways to make ice less slippery

    1. Simple boiling water. Just imagine this ice. What's the easiest way to deal with it? Of course, it's just boiling water! After a while, the ice will completely melt, and if the paths are at an angle, then all the water will drain from them, and after the onset of the next frost, ice will not form for some time. But the decision to melt it will help get rid of the ice only before the thaw. This option can be accepted for consideration.

    2. Salt. Many people prefer this method. The salt eats up the ice just instantly, and after a couple of minutes you can safely move along the paths. The disadvantage of this option is that the salt eats away at the track itself. And it doesn't matter what material it is made of. Concrete, tiles or paving stones - everything falls under this influence. In addition, you will carry the salt on your shoes to your home. The sole of your shoes will also suffer from this action. Therefore, it is not advisable to use this method.

    3. Sand. The method is on the same level as salt. But here everything is much simpler. The sand will evenly fall on the ice, and the owners will not fall off the steps, porch or other surface where ice has formed. The disadvantage is that the sand is blown away very quickly. And if a small amount of it remains on the ice, then it no longer saves from a slippery surface. And one more minus - if you pour a lot of sand, then part of it will definitely move home because of the shoes.

    4. A unique tool. This method will help you to instantly remove ice without any damage to the surface. Required: two liters of warm water, liquid dishwashing detergent (drops 6-7), 100 grams of alcohol. All these components must be mixed, and feel free to use it. For convenience, the product can be poured into a plastic bottle, then pour ice from it. Years of experience claim that if you use this product, the ice will quickly melt, and salt and sand are not needed.
