• What can be cooked from squid: quick and tasty

    You can find many interesting and amazing polyurethane foam crafts. I think that you will definitely want to create something for yourself. Making crafts out of foam is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance, it is important to listen a little to the masters who have already created more than one work. Each craftsman can have their own secrets for making various crafts. Therefore, if you decide to do something, take a look at first and read a few works on our website. After all detailed process manufacturing is not described in every article and you may not find something useful for yourself. I really like polyurethane foam, you can make anything from it, the main thing is that a little imagination works.
    After reading about polyurethane foam on the Internet, I found a somewhat interesting point and now we will sort it out with you. The polyurethane foam shrinks after leaving the can. First, the foam expands and then solidifies, and only then it already shrinks. If the foam loses a lot in volume, its contact ability is disturbed, excessive stresses arise in the joints. Shrinkage is one of the main characteristics of polyurethane foam; the less shrinkage, the higher the bond strength. The best samples have a shrinkage factor of no more than 3%. In cheap foam, the shrinkage will be long-term. If you do not wait a couple of days, and start immediately creating some kind of work, then the putty will then begin to crack precisely because of shrinkage. This should be remembered and known. If you want your craft to serve you for a long time, then you need to wait a couple of days when it shrinks, and of course it is better to use high-quality foam that is not cheap. If you use a bandage on crafts, then it prevents cracking of the products.
    I think that you have adopted a little from my short story. Today we will get to know you with another master class, already familiar to us Nadezhda Gulak, this is making foam frogs... This wonderful craft will be a wonderful decoration in your garden and playground.

    To make a frog, we need:
    Mounting interest.
    Canisters.
    Bottle caps.
    Scissors.
    PVA glue.
    Awl.
    Bandage.
    Tile adhesive.

    Method for making a frog from polyurethane foam:
    First, we will make a sitting frog, and then a recumbent one, you see for yourself which frog you need more))) Nadezhda also shared with us a master class on making a standing frog, if you need just such a look. We will make the frog from polyurethane foam, but first we assemble the frame from the canisters, so that we have a sedentary frog.

    The height of the frog of the craft will be 70 cm. We involuntarily apply polyurethane foam to the frame.

    When the excess dries up, cut it off, process it with sandpaper and give it the shape of a frog.

    Then we need our frog to dry well. Let's give her time.

    Then we paint, apply yacht varnish and the sitting frog is ready from polyurethane foam.

    Now let's make the frog recumbent.

    First, we assemble the frame from canisters, wire and plastic bottles.

    We apply polyurethane foam to the frame.

    We begin to shape, cut off all unnecessary, and then process with sandpaper.

    We paint, varnish and the frog from polyurethane foam is ready.

    Look at how cute Nadezhda's crafts from polyurethane foam, plastic bottles and canisters turned out.

    Further, if you again dream up, then you can create a fairy tale in the garden, as Nadezhda did. Nadezhda put a sitting frog in a pond and made an inch out of a doll not far away. The bow and dress at the Thumbelina are made of plastic bottles, and can also be made from, for example, plastic bags. I don’t know about you, but I really like the work of Nadezhda and, most importantly, everything is done with love and imagination. Hope we wish you to continue to create wonderful works for your garden and share them on our website)))

    A summer cottage, a favorite garden is not only effective area for various landings and buildings. Here the owners can fully embody their creative ideas. Some will ennoble the site with an original fence, others will install bright and funny garden figures. The available material for creating crafts is polyurethane foam. This familiar sealant can be found in every household.

    Preparation, tools and rules of work

    Foam does not require much physical effort. Crafts are easy to correct - cut off excess, add missing volume. At the same time, there are certain requirements for working with this material.

    Figures are made on outdoors(but do not act in sub-zero weather). The finished product is not afraid of temperature drops, moisture ingress, but it is better to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sun rays.

    The clear varnish will provide additional protection from weather conditions. Furniture varnish is used more often, but ship varnish is also used.

    It is more convenient to take polyurethane foam for winter work - it holds its shape better during the manufacture of crafts, and is also more adapted to outdoor conditions.

    Polyurethane foam for winter conditions will keep its shape better

    The material gets dirty, so it is worth taking care of gloves (2-3 pairs) and work clothes, as well as a film or other protection of the site.

    The foam is sticky, which means the solvent is useful for cleaning hands and surfaces.

    Apply the sealant in layers, letting each layer dry well (minimum 15 minutes). On average, complete drying time is 10–12 hours (a large figure will need up to a week). After drying, you can process the product - cut, prime, paint. For "sculpting" you need a sharp knife (a clerical knife is suitable), and for making a frame - wire, plastic bottles, old unnecessary dishes (pots, etc.), nails, fishing line, etc.

    To decorate the craft and protect it from external weather conditions, you will need putty and acrylic paint. If the product is to stand outdoors, then the paint must be appropriate for the external conditions of use. A layer of putty will level the surface of the figurine. For work, take care of a suitable brush, rags, sandpaper for sanding, a spray bottle with water.

    Making figures from polyurethane foam

    To work with complex shapes, certain skills are required, so it is better to start with simple spherical or oval figures (bun, mushroom, decorative boulder).

    Decorative boulders can not only decorate the site, but also cover unsightly household details.

    Gingerbread man

    For manufacturing you will need:

    • Styrofoam;
    • cement mortar;
    • paints;
    • gypsum plaster;
    • polyurethane foam;
    • knife or cutter.

    So let's get started:

    1. You can create a ball with only sealant, but it is more economical to use something round for the base, such as a plastic ball. It is covered with foam, and when it dries up, they cut out the muzzle, make blanks of styrofoam handles and insert them with a wire.

      The ball becomes like a bun - a muzzle and pens appear

    2. The bow is also cut out of foam.

      Styrofoam bow will decorate the top of the bun

    3. The handles and bow are covered with foam, and legs are created from it.

      We create the similarity of legs with the volume of foam

    4. After the sealant dries, the craft is putty, the face is tweaked, then covered cement mortar and finally form the smile of the kolobok. A layer of putty is applied again.

      After the putty, we rub it with cement mortar and putty again

    5. Now the figure needs to be colored. It is important to wait until it dries completely, otherwise the paint will not adhere well.

      The gingerbread man is getting bright

    6. To make the craft shine and preserve the brightness of the color better, cover the bun with varnish.

      Here is such a funny and vivid character turned out

    Foam mushrooms

    It is just as easy to make foam mushrooms. Homemade mushrooms will liven up the site, give you a good mood. You can install one figurine, or you can "plant" a whole mushroom meadow.

    A mushroom clearing pleases the eye of both hosts and guests

    Borovik

    For manufacturing you will need:

    • plastic bottles and cardboard box(frames for the stem and cap of the mushroom);
    • wallpaper glue;
    • putty;
    • acrylic paint and primer.

    Processing and decorating foam figures

    Crafts from polyurethane foam are not only painted, but also covered with various decor.

    Decorated balls

    The base for the ball can be made in the same way as the bun - apply sealant to the plastic ball. In this case, the craft will have its own texture, which will only be emphasized. Shells glued on top, beautiful river pebbles, etc., work well.

    Another option is to use an inflatable ball that is filled with foam from the inside. This solution will allow you to achieve a smooth outer surface. Stick on the finished glass decor - and the craft will turn out to be spectacular and even glamorous.

    Smooth surface and exquisite decoration make the ball especially elegant

    Such balls, laid out on a flower bed, lawn or at the entrance to a house, look very attractive. Another option is to place them on an elevation, as in the video below.

    Foam animal figures

    Animal figurines can be processed to create a smooth surface or, on the contrary, to emphasize the texture to convey the fluffiness of the animal's skin.

    The texture of the foam perfectly conveys the fluffiness of the animal's skin

    When coloring the craft, try to use different shades, make smooth color transitions for a natural effect.

    Additionally apply various materials- branches, wire, stones.

    6. Cleaner.

    Foam tools
    For frame garden figures use:

    • plastic bottles;
    • cans;
    • hard wire;
    • wood planks;
    • rubber hoses of different diameters;
    • adhesive tape;
    • if the frame is rack-and-pinion, then you need a nail to connect the strips together.

    How to make figurines for the garden with your own hands

    Before starting work, carefully study the instructions for use printed on the packaging with the substance. Inside, it is liquid, and as soon as it comes into contact with the air stream, it hardens, forming dense foam... Freezes completely within twelve hours. Simple rules for making figurines:

    1. You cannot work outside in sub-zero temperatures.
    2. Be sure to wear gloves, the foam is toxic.
    3. The work surface is prepared in advance, covered with paper or oilcloth.
    4. Shake the foam before use.
    5. During operation, the can is held down. This does not allow gas to escape and more material is used.
    6. First, a layer is applied, after hardening - the next one. Otherwise, the structure will fall apart. Each one freezes for 15 minutes.
    7. To make the frame heavier, sand, earth, pebbles or stones are taken.
    8. The surface of the polyurethane foam is sticky, it takes up to 12 hours to cure. Therefore, be careful, if the material comes into contact with the skin, use acetone.

    Cover the figure with a thin layer of clear varnish. One or more is applied to the dried layer as needed. This increases the durability of the polyurethane foam sculpture. For decoration finished structure artificial flowers, beads, LED bulbs are used.

    Mushroom

    If you have never made crafts for a garden plot from construction foam with your own hands, then it is best to start with common mushroom, and only then develop creativity. The design is based on a simple plastic bottle. You will also need a primer.

    Foam mushroom

    How to make a mushroom from foam sealant:

    1. Pour sand, stones for weighting into the container. This is the future leg.
    2. Cover the workpiece with a layer of foam, make a thickening from the bottom for stability.
    3. Cut the mushroom cap out of the foam. The lid does not have to be perfect, asymmetry will give naturalness.
    4. Apply cone or hemispherical sealant to it.
    5. Then connect both parts with copper wire and glue.
    6. After drying, carefully cut off the protruding parts, prime to remove pores.
    7. After the primer has dried, the figurine is sanded and varnished in two or three layers.

    Sculptures for the garden from polyurethane foam. "FOX"
    To make figurines you will need:
    Polyurethane foam
    Polyurethane foam gun.
    Foam cleaner. (needed to flush the gun and to clean your hands)
    Cotton gloves, not one pair.
    To make this figurine, I used a regular empty kefir bottle.
    1 Pour sand into the bottle (for heaviness, so that the figurine is not blown away by the wind). Foam the entire surface of the bottle. Attention! It is necessary to foamer gradually, layer by layer, give time to dry each layer. The foam dries for about 10-15 minutes.

    2, 3 For making paws, tail, I used a tube with a threaded wire. Stick in the tail (the whole figure rests on it), paws (tubes), set the desired bend, foamed joints. Neck: Insert the tube from under toilet paper, foaming. Dry

    4 Foam paws, tail.
    5 To make a head, you can insert something round, foamed. Ears: Cut from thick cardboard, soft plastic. Embed the ears in place, foamed, dry. Mustache: Cut a thick line, paint over with black paint from a balloon, insert. The eyes are rubber balls painted with the same paint.
    paint over foam sculptures oil paint, on top you can varnish (if the figurine is not painted with white paint, since varnish gives yellowness).

    For the basis of the bun, I took a Christmas tree toy, you can use a plastic ball, something round. Foam the ball, letting dry gradually, layer by layer.

    The handles are made of a wire threaded tube. Set the bend, foamed. The klondike is also foam. "Ears" on the kerchief: Cut leaves from cardboard, embed, foamed. Cut out eyes, mouth with a sharp knife

    .
    Inside the legs, foamed ordinary wooden blocks, setting the desired shape.

    Paint over with oil paint, can be varnished.

    Finished fiberglass crafts cost from 4 to 25 thousand rubles. Interior sculptures and statues with silver painting are on average 30% more expensive. With a limited budget, it is better to use an inexpensive, but more original option, namely, to make garden figures from polyurethane foam with your own hands.

    Note for newbie designers

    From this material, interesting fairy-tale characters, flowerpots and pots of different sizes are obtained. Hedgehogs, elephants, hares and pandas look like real ones. And voluminous vases, decorated with colored glass, impress with their uncomplicated design. Coming in contact with water, the material expands. As a result of polymerization, that is, solidification, a solid base is created for the fur, ears and believable thorns of animals.

    Amateur designers include the main advantages of polyurethane foam:

    1. Good adhesion of the sealant to others building materials: wood, glass, plastic and natural stone. Due to this, large-scale figures are obtained that are maximally resistant to bad weather.
    2. Waterproof, which significantly increases the shelf life of outdoor crafts.
    3. The fire-fighting foam is non-flammable even at temperatures of 1300 ° C. The materials adjacent to it also do not burn, so if there are grill houses or gazebos with barbecue in the country, such decorations - The best way avoid accidents.
    4. The parts of the crafts, connected with polyurethane, do not need additional fixation with nails or self-tapping screws. Simple installation is possible without special equipment and professional help.
    You can make such figures yourself

    There are few drawbacks to polyurethane foam, but they must also be taken into account. Under the influence of direct sunlight, the material not only darkens, but is destroyed day after day.

    Increased air humidity in 58% of cases is the cause of premature deformation of garden figures. The polyurethane foam contains chlorine, so it is advisable to work with goggles and gloves.

    Regular foam does not tolerate well low temperatures... To prevent the crafts from falling apart after the first cold weather, it is better to use a "winter" sealant. It retains its original strength and toughness values even at 30 ° C frost.

    Video "Do-it-yourself lamb from polyurethane foam"

    From this video you will learn how to make a beautiful lamb out of polyurethane foam.

    Sculpting yourself

    The first step is to prepare necessary materials and tools. Since the polyurethane foam goes well with any product, the frame of the future tiger or rhino can really be made from plastic bottles. To do this, you will need several dozen containers of 1.5 liters, sand, boards and thick wire.

    A reliable base material can be clinker brick or bottle. In addition to the sealant, amateur designers will need metal rods and a mounting gun. If you need to make an unusual pots out of foam in the form of a shoe or a steamer, cans and buckets will come in handy. And so that the finished crafts do not deteriorate under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, they will have to be treated with quick-drying paint.

    Making figures from polyurethane foam is a painstaking but interesting process. First, the craftsmen cover the base with a sealant and wait 5-6 hours for it to harden. At the next stage, several more layers of foam are applied and this procedure is repeated until the desired shape and volume of the product is achieved. Next, remove the untidy protrusions with a construction knife and paint the figure. Drying time depends not so much on its size as on the number of layers applied.

    Lamb

    Such a craft can be placed on a terrace, in a garden, and even in a city apartment. The work will come in handy scraps of artificial leather, plastic bottles, buckets, foam, wire and tape. First, a wireframe is created. For a small lamb, 5 bottles with a capacity of 1 liter are enough. If you are planning a large animal with lush curls, at least 20 vessels with a capacity of 1.5-2 liters. In the next step, it is important:

    • wrap the frame with tape or electrical tape;
    • construct a tail from flux-cored or copper wire;
    • cover the workpiece with a 3-cm layer of foam and repeat the same after 5-6 hours;
    • give the muzzle the desired shape with a spatula or clerical knife;
    • paint a ready-made craft, and, if desired, glue eyelashes and attach a satin bow.

    Black buttons are good for the eyes. Wide drooping ears can be made from long sections of isolon.

    Snail

    In specialized stores, ready-made figurines of gastropods cost from 3 to 8 thousand rubles. If you only have enough money to pay for housing and communal services, you will have to create the decor with your own hands. To do this, you will need a couple of spray cans with polyurethane foam, 5-6 plastic bottles, a sand bucket and a stationery knife. Next, we follow the instructions:

    1. Give the foam layer the outline of the shell of the clam and apply it to the base.
    2. Apply the second layer and fix the bottle, which will later become the snail's neck.
    3. We cover the one and a half liter vessel with a sealant and wait until it dries completely.
    4. We prepare the lower body, place the bucket and cover it with foam as well.
    5. Apply the next layer of polyurethane foam so that the sink can be cut out of it.
    6. We draw a spiral with a felt-tip pen and remove unnecessary details with a knife.
    7. We cover the finished craft with a protective compound and decorate with satin ribbons.

    If a snail is needed for a children's gazebo, it is better to paint it orange, green or white.

    Frog

    Among the eastern peoples, this animal symbolizes immortality, wisdom and the lunar principle. The Chinese believe that tailless amphibians attract monetary luck, therefore, it is better to install figures of funny croaks at the entrance to the house. For DIY crafts you will need aluminum pan, a can of foam, wire, paint and old beads for decoration. First you need to fill the pan, that is, the body of the amphibian, with foam and wait until the sealant has completely hardened.

    The same will need to be done with an iron jar - the frog's head. Already finished parts should be fastened with wire and treated with several layers of foam. In the place of the legs, it is advisable to install wooden, or preferably metal, rods and cover them with polyurethane foam. Now it is important to give all parts of the body the desired shape and make the lower legs from the materials at hand. These can be leftover logs or, for example, a laminate underlay.

    To increase the resistance of the craft to precipitation, at the very end it is better to treat it with an acrylate composition. Compared to conventional varnishes, it instantly adheres to polyurethane foam and increases the shelf life of products by an average of 5 years.

    Lizard

    Of the materials, you will need two cans of foam, a kefir bottle, a plastic glass, cocktail tubes, 1 m of a garden hose, a roll of wire and glass eyes. The latter can be borrowed from old dolls that have been gathering dust in the attic for years and are no longer of interest to adult children.

    In general terms, the craft algorithm looks like this:

    1. Cover liter bottle and a glass of foam.
    2. We make a hole in the cork and glass, connecting them with a tube or thick wire.
    3. From above, we fix all the details with foam so that they resemble the head and body of a lizard.
    4. We make legs from a hose or plastic, stretching a wire in them for a more or less believable bend. We insert them into the body and fix them with another layer of sealant.
    5. In the same way, we build up the abdomen and a high ridge on the front half of the ridge of the animal.
    6. We make a tail from the remains of the hose. You need to insert a wire inside to get a beautiful bend.
    7. Cut the cocktail tubes for claws, insert pieces of wire into them and cover with foam.
    8. We put in the eyes and hide the cracks on the iguana's body with the same sealant.
    9. We putty the finished lizard, and after about a day we cover it with acrylic paint.

    The finished figure can decorate an artificial reservoir in the country or become an element of a children's gazebo.

    Fox

    A chanterelle can be made from several plastic bottles and about one can of polyurethane foam. From the materials, gloves, sand, an assembly gun and a hand cleaner are useful. So that the figure is not blown away by the wind, you need to pour small pebbles into the bottle and foam it 3-4 times with an interval of half an hour.

    Then you need to make the legs and tail from the hose. The wire will provide the desired bends. At the neck, you can insert a used toilet paper sleeve and also cover it with a 3 cm layer of sealant.

    It is better to make the head from a seamless plastic ball, and the ears from thick cardboard. To simulate a mustache, you need a fishing line that can be painted white or gray. As for the eyes, the vertical pupils are made from small rubber balls. At the end of the work, it is important to treat the fox with a dye composition and open it with varnish.

    Universal circuit

    If you stick to general rules and recommendations, in just a couple of days you can make any animal, bird or plant. The main thing is to prepare a reliable frame. Materials will require 5-liter bottles, leftover logs, rubber, foam rubber, glass wool and even buttons. Getting started with creativity, you need to remember:

    1. The wider the frame, the longer the figure of the animal in the open air will last.
    2. All elements of the craft must be planted on the base gradually, with a 30-minute interval between each layer of foam.
    3. For better fixation of compact products, it is better to fill bottles or buckets with sand.
    4. The individual torso elements are well made from welding wire. If the figures are going to be installed on open area under a canopy, you can use thick paper.

    The optimum thickness of the applied layers is 3-4 cm. One hundred percent hardening is possible only after 10 hours.

    In some crafts, a smooth flow of sealant is important, which only pistol foam can provide.
