Astron Design is intended only for planning the interior furnishings of rooms - it has no other functions. The interface is in Russian, intuitive, reminiscent of the Paint interface.

SketchUp

There is a paid version (with advanced functionality and a database of objects) and a free version.

An application with extensive functionality: used for interior and exterior planning, design three-dimensional models of land plots, cars, roads and other objects. The project can be executed in real color, or in simple colors (shades of gray and black).

In the free version, the user can design the design of premises (layout, colors, types of surfaces, furniture and decor) using the built-in base. The boss took out a computer and showed us photographs of the apartment. Only now it turned out that these were not photographs. This was the design of the apartment in 3D. This very apartment, long before it was embodied in this form, was drawn by a designer on a computer.

How much did such a designer and his work cost! - I thought, but, of course, I politely kept silent and sipped my tea.

The second step is furniture placement.

Then it seemed to me again, well, now, I’ll arrange the furniture and everything will be like in the picture. But no. At this stage, it is important to select furniture from the catalog that is suitable in style and fit it in size.

There is a fairly large selection in the furniture catalog. Of course, you always want more, but on the other hand, if the choice is huge, then you can hang around for a long time. I was pleased that there is conventional furniture, and there is furniture from IKEA (yes, the same store that cannot be named). So familiar sofas, kitchens and lamps with unpronounceable names are in the catalog.

The cool thing is that the size of the furniture can be changed, which means that it can be adjusted to the size of the interior. Later, you can look for a sofa of the size that will fit into the space.

I have little experience with the programs, but in the program that I once used, it was impossible to change the size of the furniture. Here are the dimensions and that's it. And the choice was one or two, and it was missed. The interior, created in this way, turned out to be very conditional, because all the dimensions did not correspond to reality.

At this stage, the most important thing is to arrange the furniture so that everything fits organically into the space.

After the furniture is arranged, we select materials and textures.

More beauties already begin here. I put laminate on the floor, wallpaper could be glued to the walls, but I painted it with turquoise paint, covered the sofa with gray fabric and applied a zigzag print to the curtains.

Almost all materials can be changed. And not only make the sofa leather or put linoleum on the floor, but also change the handles in the kitchen from gold to chrome and make them matte or shiny. What I liked was the eyedropper tool. After I selected the texture for the sofa, I used the pipette to make the same barstool seats in two seconds.

In the PRO account there is an opportunity to upload your textures, but I did not use it. What was offered in the catalog was quite enough for me.

All interior elements can be given any texture and color.

We complement the interior with lighting and decor.

At this stage, the interior has already become similar to what I imagined, although only a few hours of my work in the program have passed. It remains to hang chandeliers, lamps, put a table lamp and a floor lamp. The catalog also contains built-in ceiling lamps, it is possible to arrange sockets and switches - for example, I hung an intercom in the corridor of the apartment.

And the final touch is the decor. I put my books on the shelves, put an open computer and a cup of tea on my desk. Plants immediately added liveliness to the interior. I even added a kitty to make it more fun.

The more beauty and detail in the interior, the longer it takes to load. Therefore, at this stage, due to the fact that I was working in the online version and did not download the program to my computer, the program began to hang on my computer and the work began to progress more slowly. But, firstly, with the autosave function, nothing that I did was lost, and secondly, such excitement has already begun to do everything beautifully, that I suffered program freezes.

Decorating the finished interior is the last and most enjoyable stage.

The last stage is the most interesting. Renders. Those very realistic 3D designs.

I was so delighted with the resulting interior in 3D that I didn't even know why these renders were needed. But when I tried it, it was a delight! It was then that I remembered the story about the boss who showed me 3D designs from the designer.

Renders are realistic images of the interior. Unlike a three-dimensional picture, which is visible in 3D mode, light appears on the renders, which means shadows, glare, reflections. Everything looks much more realistic.

The program takes some time to prepare the render. We'll have to endure.

I set the time when I take the photo and the location of the sun to make the render look as natural as possible. For example, during the day, when the sun is shining through the window, the lighting is not the same as in the evening. These parameters can be set in the program.

To render - here I always want to say a photo, but this is not a real photo, but a photorealistic image - and seeing what happens is a real adventure. If you have a PRO account, then the picture can be made in very good resolution and quality.

But I understand that such 3D images are now much less surprised than then, 10 years ago, when I was visiting my boss for the first time I saw that such a thing is possible in principle. Professional programs for interior design

Here the choice is not so great. I will tell you which ones I personally used, and which ones I still use. So let's go:

AutoCAD

This is a program for drawing, development of technical documentation. Manufacturer: Autodesk. The interface is very light and convenient. Rumor has it that you can do 3D in it, but the quality is not the best, and the work is very, very time consuming. That is, the ratio of the effort expended and the result will clearly not satisfy a professional designer.

ArchiCAD

ArchiCAD is also a professional design program, but from another manufacturer (Graphisoft). This is very convenient, especially if you do not have a spatial imagination (well, or you do, but you want to make sure that your and denia). Time spent drawing walls, windows, etc. more than in AutoCAD, but the result is worth it: a 3D picture in one click, wall sweeps in 2 clicks (while in AutoCAD you need to draw all this yourself). Well, there are many other useful things that will come in handy in interior design.

Now I work (create drawings) in this program, and the result is more than satisfactory to me. It takes much more time to master this program than to AutoCAD, especially if you want to make more or less realistic visualizations, and not just see the geometry of an object in 3D.

3dsMax

Probably everyone has heard about this program, because what designers call it in the first place. Apparently, this is due to the fact that not some boring drawings are made in it, but photorealistic pictures that customers like so much. The manufacturer is the same as that of Autocad - Autodesk.

Unlike Archikad, images created in Max can reach such a degree of realism that not even every professional can distinguish this picture from a photo. That is, the possibilities are so high that it is already possible not to compare with the Archikad. However, the drawings are not made in it, only the visualization of the interior.

It takes a lot of time to master this program. Personally, I find it the hardest to learn, but the result is worth it :)

Other professional interior design software

In general, a designer needs one drawing program and one rendering program. I have already listed the most-most. But there is still a very needed program, and one substitute program:

1. Photoshop- is necessary for the designer to create collages. It can be replaced by other programs, but read about them in the article "".
