    A beautiful interior is not only wall, ceiling and floor decoration, but also well-chosen furniture and curtains. Do not lose sight of the fact that interior doors play an important role in the interior. It is they who sometimes emphasize everything that is conceived by the designer. Therefore, it is very important to choose the right door not only in terms of their design, but also in terms of size. It is about them that will be discussed in this article. Standard sizes will be considered between room doors, their correspondence with the passages. Correct measurement methods and calculations will be shown.

    Interior doors

    The main function is to close the passage between rooms. And depending on the closed premises, it can have different sizes. For example, the widest structures are installed at the entrance to the hall. The smallest in the office space.

    At the same time, such a functional feature as transparency is used only for certain rooms. You can’t put them in the toilet or in, that's for sure. According to purely constructive criteria, they can be swing, sliding, folding, cassette.

    There are standards for dimensions that were adopted even during the construction of the first apartment buildings in Soviet times. They have changed slightly since then. For example, the standard door height is 2 m.The Europeans have a standard of 2.1 m. Since most of the computer programs for the production of various products and the design of buildings (meaning purely constructive planning and calculation) came to Russia from European countries, then domestic manufacturers have gradually switched to this height size. Although it is impossible to say that about everyone. That is, when choosing a door, you must first measure the height of the doorway.

    As for replacing old doors with new ones, if a major alteration is not planned, and simply replacement is made, then standard typical interior doors are selected. If additional openings are being constructed or made, then the dimensions of the door frame are taken from the project overhaul... It is clear that the choice of a standard model is not only a simple choice from the products offered on the market, but also a simple installation in a standard opening.

    Standard dimensions of interior doors - GOST and requirements

    So, there is a GOST of the sizes of interior doors, according to which they are produced. It indicates not only these parameters, but also the size of the opening for interior doors. These two meanings are interrelated. Table of standard sizes for interior doors:

    Height, mmWidth, mm
    2000 550
    600
    700
    800
    900
    1200 - with two sashes, 600 mm wide each
    1400 - with two sashes, the width of one is 600 mm, the other is 800 mm.
    1500 - with two doors, the width of one is 600 to the other, 900 mm.

    If the dimensions of the door you are purchasing exactly correspond to the parameters indicated in the table, then you are very lucky. Because standard products are much cheaper than ordered ones. Of course, a doorway can be fitted to a custom door, but this is not always possible. This is especially true for panel houses, in which it is impossible to expand the openings or increase their height. This violates the integrity of the entire structure of the house.

    There is one more parameter that must be mentioned. This is the width of the timber from which the door frame is made. Basically, there are three dimensions taken into account when planning and marking:

    • clean opening is the width of the door leaf;
    • door frame width;
    • the width of the opening in the wall.

    By the way, here you can't talk only about the width. Exactly the same relationship between the height parameters. So, between the outer ends of the box and the inner wall opening, there should be a gap of 10 ÷ 15 mm. This is done so that the box can easily stand in the opening, and so that it could be aligned in planes.

    Standard sizes of doorways

    Table of standard dimensions of the height and width of the doorway in accordance with the same dimensions of the frame, which were indicated in the first table:

    Height, mmWidth, mm
    2060 ÷ 2090630-650
    680-700
    780-800
    880-900
    980-1000
    1280-1300
    1480-1500
    1580-1600

    As you can see, the standard dimensions of doorways are slightly larger than the parameters of the doors.

    Door frame dimensions

    And one more indicator that must be taken into account is the thickness of the door frame timber, it determines the thickness. The standard size is 75 mm. It was legalized for one reason - this is the thickness of the reinforced concrete slab, which is used for the partition in apartment buildings old type. It was this thickness that guaranteed the required load-bearing capacity of the curtain walls.

    How to correctly measure the parameters of the opening

    This is a very important component of the repair, because it depends on this action whether the door structure fits into the opening, and what dimensions the gaps between the mating elements will be. The thing is that the quality of construction in those early years left much to be desired. Therefore, the openings in the walls do not guarantee the evenness of the ribs, both vertically and horizontally. That is, the geometry of the shape is not an exact rectangle.

    Therefore, measurements must be taken in several places. Usually it is along the edges and in the middle (even in several places). In this case, all measurements are carried out strictly in planes, that is, horizontally and vertically, for which you will have to use additional control instruments such as plumb lines and. The photo below shows how to correctly measure the size of the opening for an interior door with a frame.

    As practice shows, the doorway very often does not correspond to standard dimensions. If the actual parameters are slightly larger, then this is not a big problem. The gap can be filled with mortar and closed with additional elements, or you can order a door with large parameters. If the dimensions are smaller than the standard, then the edges of the opening will have to be adjusted to fit them. Or fit the door under the opening.

    Attention! If the width of the opening is more than 1000 mm, and the door according to the plan should be a swing door, then you will have to order a two-leaf version. Because the door leaf should not be more than 900 mm.

    Why such a strict warning. It's all about the weight of the door leaf. Its hinges simply cannot withstand long-term use. After which it will just start to sag, and these are problems when closing.

    And a few words about accessories for interior doors, or rather about their sizes. Even here there are standard parameters: length - 2.1 m, width - 0.7 ÷ 2.5 cm, thickness 0.6 ÷ 3 cm - this is for the strip, with the help of which part of the end of the wall is closed. But it must be noted that the width can be up to 4 cm. This is for load-bearing walls. As for the platbands, there are no standards.

    Selection of the sizes of standard interior doors with a frame between the corridor and the hall

    Table number one shows the dimensions of wide doors, which are designated as double doors. Above, attention was drawn to why it is in these places that structures with two sashes are installed.But it must be added that standard interior doors with a frame installed in the hallway are the dimensions of typical openings. Even in those distant Soviet times, the passage to the hall was made wide, because the living room is a place where sometimes a lot of people gather. This means that the entrance to this room must be large. In addition, it is in it that the overall furniture is installed, which is in the opening with small size may not squeeze through. That is, they took into account both purely aesthetic criteria and purely practical ones.

    Interior door marking

    All wooden door structures are controlled by GOST number 6629-88. This document says that products (wood) have a graphic and letter designation. We are interested in the letters, because they are indicated in the accompanying documents.

    So, what do the letters in the marking mean?

    • "O" - with glazing;
    • "Г" - deaf construction;
    • "K" - a canvas with a swinging sash;
    • "U" is a reinforced model that can be installed as an input.

    At the same time, there are letter designations that relate directly to the structure. The letter "D" means that it is door block, the letter "P", which is just a canvas.

    Attention! In the marking of interior double-leaf doors, the dimensions of the leafs must be indicated.

    Sizes of non-standard interior doors

    What does it mean, non-standard interior doors and what are their dimensions? That is, if a door, say, 700 mm wide, does not fit into the opening, but leaves large gaps with a width of 600 mm, then it is necessary to make a structure with parameters somewhere between these values? Will this be a non-standard model?

    If "YES", then all products made to order and not falling under the GOST parameters can be considered non-standard. But let's think sensibly. The construction of apartment buildings is carried out according to projects that are themselves developed according to standards. This means that they cannot have non-standard doorways.

    Then under what circumstances are non-standard designs used? There are two options:

    Variety of interior doors

    Basically, all interior doors are divided into three categories, which are based on purely constructive solutions.

    • Swinging, when the canvas is opened by twisting around the hinges.
    • Sliding, when the canvas moves along the wall along the guides.
    • Foldable, when the structure is folded like a book, opening the passage.

    Swinging

    The most commonly used type. The conservatism of people sometimes reaches the point that swing models are installed even where they do not belong.

    Sliding

    These models are often referred to as compartment doors. There are two varieties that differ from each other in the openness of the canvas when opening. That is, it simply moves along the guides along the wall or is recessed into the wall itself. The second option is preferable, but difficult to install.

    The disadvantages include the fact that special fittings are required for installation. And the installation process itself is not easy. Like swing doors, they can be single or double-sided. In the second case, the doors simply move apart in different directions when they need to be opened.

    Foldable

    By the way, the first two options can be designated as the standard for the size of interior doors with a box. What can not be said about the folding design. It is with it that it is most convenient to block non-standard openings. The canvases in them are fastened to each other by hinges, and the movement is carried out on rollers. In this case, the number of leaves can be unlimited. Again, everything will depend on the width of the opening.

    It should be noted that the minimum width of one canvas is 10 cm. That is, the less this indicator, the more sashes will have to be made for the structure. Although such models look very original.

    The advantages include the ability to close curved openings. But one single drawback is quite serious. This is a loose abutment of the canvases both among themselves and to the box. So there is no tightness.

    Article

    For the decoration of residential premises inside great importance interior doors play. The door is a kind of "barrier" that allows you to delimit one room from another. In this case, the width of the door frame must be correctly selected so that there are no obstacles when a person moves, moving furniture and other objects.

    When, the width can be selected in standard sizes or larger / smaller, taking into account the purpose of the room and the wishes of its owner. For houses and apartments, it is recommended to make room openings smaller than for the entrance to the dwelling.

    The standard size for the width of the entrance door leaf is chosen over 800 millimeters. Interior doors have a width of 600, 700, 800 millimeters.

    Size dependency

    Sometimes the owners deliberately expand the opening to 900 millimeters.

    Tip: When designing and installing a passage in a room, it should be borne in mind that large furniture is very difficult to bring into a 600 mm wide passage. The optimal size is 800 millimeters. The same dimensions should be chosen for the bathroom, which will allow you to enter without problems washing machine and other large-sized equipment.

    Standard dimensions are shown in the table:

    The table shows that the canvas is selected at least 7 cm less than the doorway. But, in this case, the thickness of the door frame should also be taken into account.

    So, for example, if the thickness is 30 millimeters, which corresponds to the minimum size, it is enough to increase the opening width by only 6 centimeters. But for veneered or telescopic boxes, this will not be enough. They are thicker, plus an extra gap for blowing in the foam.

    Opening measurement

    Height measurement

    For those who like to do everything with their own hands and reduce the cost of work, a short instruction is offered that helps to correctly and quickly measure the doorway:

    • Measurement should be carried out on "bare" walls... For this, the door leaf and frame are removed before starting work.
    • The distance between the walls is measured in several places: top, bottom and center... The smallest value is recorded.

    Tip: If it was not possible to dismantle the elements, you need to measure the first or the size from the center of one of the platbands to the middle of the other. This will give approximate figures for the size of the opening.

    Width measurement

    • The distance is measured from the lowest point of the floor to the top of the opening or the gap between the floor and the center of the casing is calculated if the box could not be removed.

    Measurement scheme

    • The depth of the opening is equal to the width of the wall... Therefore, the width of each wall is measured: from both sides of the opening and from above, or the thickness of the door frame is measured, and the wall protruding beyond it, if any, is added to it.

    Sizing calculation

    After taking measurements, you can correctly calculate the size of the door leaf.

    This takes into account:

    • Door leaf height and width.
    • The thickness and width of the door frame.
    • The width of the platbands.
    • If there is a threshold, its dimensions.

    For example, a calculation is taken for a door leaf with dimensions:

    • Height - 2 meters.
    • Width - 80 centimeters.
    • The door frame is 25 millimeters thick.

    When calculating the dimensions, it is necessary to add to the width the thickness of the box on both sides. In addition, the calculation takes into account the mounting gaps on each side, approximately 15-20 millimeters.

    In this case, the width will be equal to: 800 + 25 + 25 + 15 + 15 = 880 millimeters. An example for counting is shown in the photo.

    Width counting scheme

    This width is almost ideal for interior door manufacturers. The doors can be easily assembled into standard dimensions of openings in residential premises.

    The height is calculated in the same way, taking into account the mounting clearances and the presence of a threshold. The height of the doorway will be: 2000 + 25 + 10 + 15 = 2050 millimeters.

    As a result, for a door leaf with dimensions of 2 x 0.8 meters, the opening in the wall is 2.05 x 0.88.

    What is the thickness door frames? Usually the standard size is 75 millimeters. This must be taken into account when installing the door.

    Otherwise, you will need to use a box expander or saw it off lengthwise. In this case, problems may arise during the subsequent installation of platbands, which will lead to damage to the appearance of the door.

    To determine the parameters of the wall, you need to measure its thickness from all sides in three places. If the parameters along the perimeter of the doorway are the same, the order is made for products with non-standard dimensions. With different thicknesses at these points, the door frame is sawn or an extension is placed.

    Watching the video in this article will allow you to correctly calculate the opening for installing the door leaf, taking into account the style, characteristics of materials, and operating conditions.

    The purpose of the additional element

    An additional element is a strip that is used to expand the beam of the used box for the opening.

    It is used to close a section of the wall that is not hidden by the frame of the box. The width of the required addition is calculated by measuring the thickness of the wall in the door opening, and the width of the box beam is subtracted from the obtained value.

    The standard width of the interior door frame is 7 centimeters. With a greater wall thickness, installation of additional elements is required. An exception is the use of "L" -shaped platbands.

    Tip: When purchasing doors, you must take into account the largest size of the wall thickness at the opening. Otherwise, the box will be smaller than the width of the wall. In this case, the platband will not fit tightly on the wall and box.

    If such a defect has turned out, you need to use alabaster or gypsum mortar to cover up the gap.

    The width of the extension is acquired equal to or greater than the part of the wall to be closed. For example, if the wall is 12 centimeters wide, and the boxes are 8, at least 4 are required.

    Additional features

    Before installing the strips on the door frame, you should get acquainted with the advantages of installing them:

    • High speed of installation of the block for doors extended by add-ons.
    • There are no “wet” finishing processes that are unfavorable for wood.
    • Long period between next repairs.
    • Aesthetics that ensures integrity and beautiful view door structure.
    • Low price of planks.

    Collected into a single whole, the three components of the expander-add, resemble the letter P, you can fix it:

    • Directly to the door frame.
    • To the wall, at the place of installation of the opening.
    • On a mounting bar located between the extrusions and the vertical planes of the opening.

    In the absence of a special mechanical load on the extras, only liquid nails can be used for fixing in a specially made recess. But more often galvanized self-tapping screws are used for installation.

    Tip: If the fixation is performed from the front side, it is necessary to hide the fastener caps with mastics or plugs matched to the box's tone.

    Types of add-ons

    For home improvement, you can purchase doors:

    • With boxes in which a groove was previously selected on the outside for correct alignment with the extensions.

    To do this, you can use chipboard or wood planks, one centimeter thick. The width of the slats is measured with a box mounted in the opening, which will be the basis of the structure. In this case, the element is nailed from the back of the opening with small galvanized studs with a step of 20 to 35 centimeters. You can insert the strips into the recess, and then fix it in the opening of the box with glue.

    • Without groove with box beam. In this case, you can:
    1. choose a groove with a machine with a special straight cutter yourself;
    2. attach the doboks to the timber of the box through pre-drilled through with self-tapping screws from the end of the element;

    Tip: For attaching the expansion strips to the box, the diameter of the through holes is not the same along the entire length. First, the drill is taken with a diameter equal to the head of the self-tapping screw, then by the size of its barrel.

    1. additional elements are installed on the bars, screwed to the wall with self-tapping screws. The first of them is located 200 millimeters from the floor, and then in 60 centimeters increments;
    2. addons with a box "sit" inside the base of plywood or drywall;
    3. a box beam without a groove is connected to the strips by installing a rail that runs from the outside of the opening along the alignment line;
    4. a strip or plank made of plywood is fastened around the perimeter not with a continuous strip, but with separate segments.

    A bar and additional strips are nailed to the rail. In this case, the central axis of the rail and the connection line must coincide or have a slight offset.

    After assembly, the extreme line of the extensions is flush with the opening. Excess up to one millimeter is cut off with a plane, and then everything is closed with cash.

    Installation of add-ons

    Usually, the upper bar, combined with the lintel, is superimposed on two vertical parts.

    To calculate its length, it is necessary to add two thicknesses of additional racks to the lintel size. But you can also place the bar between them. In this case, the length of the lintel is selected according to the width of the box, and the thickness of the upper bar is added to the heights of the left and right vertical elements.

    Installation procedure:

    • Measurements are carried out with scrupulous accuracy according to the scheme that corresponds to the selected mounting method.

    Tip: For right and left additions, the vertical dimension is measured separately. In this case, the inner line of the future plank should be measured by the box, and the outer one in the opening in fact.

    • The board is cut according to measurements and according to the construction scheme.
    • All three additional elements are attached to the assembled door frame.
    • When fastening the strips to a box not installed in the opening, it is installed together with them.
    • Mounting wedges are located between the wall and the door base and they align the device in the opening.
    • Blowing of the mounting gap with foam is carried out before installing the spacer wedges, between the box beam and the extrusions.
    • Foaming of the entire space is performed in portions, at least in two steps. The adjustment of the hardening process is monitored while the foam hardens.
    • The work is completed by sealing the gap formed between the wooden parts and the floor, and installing the platbands.

    Correctly executed expansion of the door frame allows you to arrange any opening quickly and efficiently. This is especially important when it is difficult to find a standard ready-made design.

    Interior doors are mainly used to separate two rooms. Today these structures are made not only from wood. Sometimes materials such as plastic or glass are used. They look great not only in an apartment or house, but also in an office.

    Views

    Doors between rooms serve specific purposes. Among the main functions of these structures:

    • partition between two separate rooms;
    • stylish and beautiful appearance of the product;
    • muting noise.

    The most popular material used for these structures is wood. Ash and pine are often used. Oak is a more expensive material. The better and stronger the wood, the more expensive its price, respectively.

    Most often, the most expensive models are made from solid wood. They meet the necessary door requirements High Quality... Manufacturers make them completely differently, which is why they have different colors, different design, as well as all kinds of sizes.

    Today, veneer doors between rooms are quite popular. They are in their own way appearance not inferior at all expensive models from a bar. Moreover, their price is much lower and more acceptable for the average buyer.

    These products are based on a cheap wood species. At the last stage of manufacturing, it is simply upholstered with veneer. For additional decoration, all kinds of glass inserts or carvings are used. It is desirable to install them in rooms with low humidity. Thus, you can greatly extend their service life.

    To purchase quality door, you need to define:

    • the amount you are willing to spend on a purchase;
    • for which room in the house the door is intended;
    • the general interior of the room in order to be able to determine the color of the future door.

    There are also double and single models. The second type is most often used.

    Buying finished products today will not be difficult. This can be done both in the store and on the Internet.

    Dimensions (edit)

    Another issue at the stage of construction or renovation is determining the size of the opening for the door. When planning to order these products from a certain manufacturer on order in the future, you should not worry about these parameters.

    Dimensions (edit) chinese door on the box are measured according to the standard scheme. The standard size of the interior door together with the frame is chosen in order to save money. For room doors, standard measurements are easy to make.

    With a clearly allocated budget, it is better to think about standard opening sizes for further installation of doors between rooms. So, you will be able to accurately plan costs, because in hardware stores a large selection of designs of various parameters is offered.

    Today, manufacturers offer customers many variations of door leaves on the theme of texture, size and style.

    However, before making a purchase, check the doorway to see if it is the correct size.

    As a rule, the following door sizes are the optimal parameters that are popular:

    • width - 0.6 m, 0.7 m or 0.8 m;
    • usually the height is 2 meters.

    Now on sale there are also doors with a width of 0.55 m and a height of 1.9 m, and the thickness of the door frame itself varies from 15 to 45 cm.

    Ignoring this data, you can get into a situation where the door frame simply does not fit into the existing opening, which will lead to additional costs (expanding the opening or replacing the door).

    In case of expansion, the placement of communications or plasterboard lintels on a metal frame should be taken into account.

    The opposite situation is also possible, when the hole is too large. Its reduction also entails costs when contacting specialized craftsmen. If you are interested in how to reduce the height of the doorway, then you can use wooden beam, drywall or brick.

    So, we correctly determine the required size of the opening:

    • height and width of the ordered product;
    • the size of the threshold (of your choice);
    • platband width;
    • thickness (depth) of the door frame.

    When building a house according to an individual plan, the parameters of the openings are likely to differ from the standard ones. There are three options here:

    • Less costly and time consuming... Make holes of typical parameters and purchase doors of standard sizes that you liked in the store.
    • More costly financially, but with a high quality result... Order a master for measurements in a company that will produce you door panels for specific sizes. Here you can choose absolutely any model, color, fittings and accessories.
    • Alternative... Purchase or order extras (special strips, additionally attached to the box in order to increase its thickness). So you can install standard interior doors in non-standard openings.

    Doors are manufactured according to numerous standards and regulations, such as GOST and SNiP. They regulate the size of interroom and entrance doors... It is difficult for an ordinary person to understand them because of the numerous abbreviations, terms and numbers.

    Common box dimensions are 35 mm thick. That is, the door leaf of the frame by 70 mm is 35 + 35. Now we measure the height. In the presence of a threshold, the height is shortened by 70 mm, in the absence - by 35 mm. So, the door leaf will be less than the opening in the wall by 100 mm (both in width and height).

    When choosing doors, you need to understand what dimensions the door frame has, and how these parameters affect the dimensions of the doorway. Each room has its own standards, established and caused by functional features:

    • doorways in the kitchen make 0.7x2 m;
    • in rooms - 0.8x2 m;
    • in bathrooms - 0.6 (sometimes 0.55) x1.9 m;
    • second entrance doors 0.8x2 m or 0.9x2 m;
    • main entrance 1.2x2 m - if single-leaf, and 0.6 / 0.8 + 0.4 m - if double-leaf.

    The size of the doorway should be 0.08 - 0.1 m wider and 0.06 - 0.09 m higher than the canvas.

    If, for example, the dimensions of the doors are 0.6 x 2 m, then the opening should be approximately 2.06 x 0.68 - 2.09 x 0.7 m.

    A few tips on how to find out the dimensions of door leaves:

    • A doorway without a door is measured against the "bare" walls. Therefore, it is necessary to dismantle the canvas with the box before measuring.
    • Measure the distance between the walls in all directions. Write down the smallest number.
    • We measure the distance from a point on the floor (choose the lowest one) to the top of the opening.
    • The depth of the hole is equal to the width of the wall, so it is worth re-measuring all three (left, top and right).

    If it was not possible to remove the door frame:

    • Measure the distance from the center of one platband to the center of the second - this will give approximate results from which you can start.
    • We find the distance from the floor to the upper point of the platband.
    • Measure the thickness of the box, as well as the wall itself, if it protrudes from you.

    As you can see, there is nothing complicated here.

    When choosing the width of the doorway, it is worth taking into account that you will have to bring certain overall things inside: sofas, tables, dressers, beds, and the like. Therefore, these things do not always "pass" into a hole 0.6 m wide. The optimal width is still considered 0.8 m.

    • openings should be smaller than the entrance;
    • the usual width of entrance doors should not exceed 0.8 m, interior doors - 0.6–0.8 m;
    • the standard size (width) of the bathroom door should be such that you can bring in a washing machine, plumbing, bedside table, and so on.

    The thickness of the door opening is usually about 0.75 m. The same thickness is offered by the frame manufacturers. If you have thick walls, consider expanding the box. Even if the difference is insignificant, you will not be able to hide it with platbands.

    The wall thickness is also measured at three points. If the number is the same, feel free to order a standard design, if not, you will have to file the wall in this place. If you do not align the walls, the platbands cannot be installed evenly.

    Colour

    The interior door must certainly be practical, but also fit the interior of your room. To match the color - combine their tone with the tone of the floor, furnishings and walls. Sometimes the rooms have different styles. In this case, you should pay attention to neutral rooms, for example, a corridor. Thus, the integrity of the interior will not be compromised.

    Among the most popular interior door colors:

    • universal solid White color;
    • To classic style light shades are suitable - bog oak and wenge;
    • warm tone of dark walnut;
    • cool shade of birch.

    Which material should you choose?

    The cost of doors on construction market may be different. First of all, it all depends on the quality of the door, as well as on their classification.

    There are 5 main types of interior doors:

    • Solid wood doors.
    • Glued wood doors.
    • Laminated.
    • Veneered.
    • PVC coated.

    Solid wood doors are very rare in our market. Usually they are either made to order or imported from Europe. The cost of such doors is, perhaps, the most expensive, but their quality is excellent. The appearance of such doors is very expressive, and the high cost is explained by the laboriousness of their manufacture.

    Glued wood doors- a more frequent visitor to our construction markets. They are made from several pieces of wood at once, which are glued together. Despite such "mosaic" of their design, they are quite durable and perfectly resist moisture. Their cost is cheaper than the cost of solid wood models, but the quality is practically not inferior. This explains their high popularity in the construction market.

    Laminated doors appeared on the construction market relatively recently, but quickly occupied their niche. This is explained primarily by their budget. Of course, they do not differ in a winning appearance, however, despite this, they still find their buyer. Their second plus is sufficient lightness. They are made of fiberboard, which is laminated from the outside.

    You should not choose very cheap ones, as they can be very short-lived.

    Veneered doors are found on the market much more often than all other types. Their high popularity is explained by the fact that they fall into the middle price segment, with optimal combination price quality. It should also be noted that the variety of types of these doors is very large, so there is plenty to choose from.

    PVC coated doors appeared on the market quite recently - the most recent. The material of these doors is covered with a special PVC film, which gives the door several advantages - it protects from moisture and is easy to clean. These doors are mainly produced by manufacturers from China.

    What are they?

    Thanks to the efforts of designers, a huge number of types of interior doors have been created:

    • ordinary single-leaf;
    • decorated with decorative inserts;
    • double-leaf door leaves that give the room a solemnity;
    • sliding doors that slide along the wall and save space.

    The accordions fit organically into modern interior... In addition, the door leaf is just an excellent springboard for creative fantasies. On its surface, you can draw your favorite cartoon characters or lay out a fun panel made of ornamental materials. All this can be done if there is a child in the house.

    Perhaps, there is little that can be changed in the renovation of the interior of an apartment or a private house without causing global devastation and without spending significant efforts or financial resources so that it has such a practical and aesthetic effect as if you change the interior doors.

    After all, no matter what beautiful wallpaper or flooring, leaving the room, the last thing that fixes our consciousness is the decor and quality of the alignment (canvas) with its framing. Therefore, such a final touch largely influences our perception of the design and comfort of the room as a whole.

    Door marking

    With the marking, which is the passport of the product, not everything is so simple. On the one hand, there are certain GOST recommendations for designations, and on the other, the abundance of manufacturers sometimes confuses general standards. It is not uncommon that doors made using the same technologies and having a visual identity can be named and marked in different ways.

    To begin with, consider the state standard, which has not been canceled. So for the manufacture of wooden interior doors for residential and public buildings is still valid GOST 6629-88, according to which it is indicated (in order of positions in the marking):

    Product type: D- door assembly, NS- door leaf.

    Canvas type: G- deaf, O- glazed, TO- glazed swinging, Have- reinforced with continuous filling.

    Height of a door with a frame, in dm.

    Width of a door with a frame, in dm. Additional letter indices: L- left door, H- overlapped, NS- with a threshold.

    State standard index.

    For example: DG20-10L GOST 6629-88 or PO19-7LN GOST 6629-88.

    Despite the fact that any self-respecting manufacturer of door products still adheres to state standards, along with official model designations, entrance and individual factory codes. For example, one of the Russian brands uses this identification, producing doors 40 mm thick and 2000 mm high:

    Model name.

    Canvas type. DG- deaf, DOF- with milled glass, DOOF- with two milled glass panes.

    Opening width, cm

    Veneer color.

    Opening direction.

    For a variant of similar products on the packaging, you can read: "Stella" DG 60 Oak lion.

    In the end, no matter how different any factory marking from the gost mark, the appearance, structure and operational properties of the door are more important to us, about which you will need to ask the seller in detail and carefully study the company passport attached to each product with its characteristics and installation instructions.

    What do you have to deal with or what kind of doors are there?

    Combined.

    The market does not allow you to relax in search suitable model, offering a huge-looking variety of door products. At the same time, upon closer examination, several main types of products can be distinguished:

    For painting

    Allows you to achieve complete color combination with surrounding design. Supplied primed, ready-to-cover decorative interior compositions.

    In this group of products, two subspecies should be distinguished - elite and budgetary orientation. The expensive segment of paintable doors is produced for the so-called concealed installation... After installing and tinting such a product, only a protruding handle can indicate the presence of a passage in the wall.

    Budget models can be found in many public institutions, they are also commonly used in "economical" apartment renovations and as temporary options. They are a textured MDF coating on a timber frame. Their main advantage is the lowest price among all door designs.

    Laminated

    They are delivered to the distribution network ready for installation. In many respects, the device resembles the previous budget class. However, they have a stain-resistant coating laminated with a polymer film that can imitate any decorative material.

    They can be filled with heat and sound insulating materials: corrugated cardboard, mineral wool, polyurethane foam or foam. There are models with smooth or textured surfaces, as well as profiled plates made of pressed MDF.

    Veneered

    They are the next, higher step in quality and appearance. The basis for them, the same frame MDF with fillers different types... On top of the base, the thinnest sections (0.7 mm) of valuable wood - veneer - are glued, which are then varnished. The result is a complete imitation of a product made of massive material, but with less weight and an acceptable price.

    Solid wood

    Probably not worth praising once again products from completely natural material... In addition to all its advantages, such a door will add sophistication and comfort to any interior, if you are ready to pay its high cost. However, one should not forget that wood is very sensitive to changes in humidity, therefore, for a long service life of such elite products, mandatory control of the indoor microclimate is required.

    Glass

    Also referred to as high price segment in the market offers of door products. They help in the implementation of special design delights, and are also ideal for installation at the entrances to bathrooms, showers, saunas and other places with high humidity. They are transparent, translucent, frosted, made of colored glass and with surface milling.

    Reinforced plastic

    They serve as a good solution for exits to loggias, terraces, as well as for damp rooms, as a cheap alternative to glass doors. They have excellent sound insulation and heat retention properties. The surfaces of products can be laminated with films under any natural material

    About dimensions and not only. Standard sizes of interior doors

    If we do not take into account the non-standard approaches of some private customers, for whom the binding of door dimensions is based on subjective requests and desires, then most of the manufacturers are guided by the standard openings of typical buildings from the Soviet period. And why reinvent the wheel - from the point of view of ergonomics of door products designed for the physiology of the human body, everything has long been invented and thought out.

    At the same time, the share of individual requests (in terms of product sizes) on the market is small, therefore it is successfully replenished by the efforts of small private manufacturers, although they are much more expensive than standard models.

    The ratio of the sizes of doorways and doors (door frame + leaf) according to domestic SNiP. From the tables below, you can find out the size of the doorway for a door with a width of, for example, 80 cm.

    Door dimensions, mm Opening dimensions, mm
    Width height Width Height
    600*2000 680-710 2050-2070
    700*2000 780-810 2050-2070
    800*2000 880-910 2050-2070
    900x2000 980-1010 2050-2070
    600*1900 680-710 1950-1970
    550*1900 630-660 1950-1970
    600+600*2000 1280-1310 2050-2070

    The ratio determined by the DIN standard:

    Door dimensions, mm Opening dimensions, mm
    Width height Width Height
    600x2000 700-740 2060-2080
    700*2000 800-840 2060-2080
    800x2000 900-940 2060-2080
    900x2000 1000-1040 2060-2080
    600+600*2000 1340-1400 2060-2080

    Width

    The very first thing, speaking about the size of doors, both swing and sliding, any of us means the width of the canvas, which we will use every day. Somewhere you need and want to be wider, but somewhere narrow enough. Guest verified recommendations offer the following options:

    For bathrooms - 600 mm,

    For kitchens - 700 mm,

    For living rooms - 800 mm.

    If we consider real market products, then its range (adjusted for the needs of modern consumers) is somewhat wider:

    For bathrooms - 550 mm and 600 mm,

    For kitchens - 700 mm,

    For living rooms - 800 mm and 900 mm.

    Let's not undeservedly forget and double doors, because it is they who often emphasize the special status of living rooms or passageways to terraces. Usually they are composed of the same standard canvases in equal and unequal combinations, for example: 600+600=1200 mm or 600+800=1400 mm... Also for "kopeck piece" are used and narrowed segments 400 mm - 400 + 400 = 800 mm or 400 + 800 = 1200 mm.

    Height standards

    If we start from the domestic "classics", then it was preserved in the proposals 1900 mm and 2000 mm, although now the European standard is also often found - 2100 mm... Higher products can also be installed - 2300 mm and even to the ceiling. It is clear that such "giants" are more convenient to use in a sliding version.

    The thicker the canvas, the better?

    Is it always like this? What does this parameter affect? Of course, massive thick doors perfectly emphasize the interiors of living rooms, especially those made in the Empire, Baroque, Renaissance styles, but thin screens and sliding partitions will be an excellent addition to the aisles to the closets or dressing rooms.

    The thicker the door, the heavier it is (in your group constructive solutions and type of materials), therefore, the requirements for its hinged fittings will be higher, it may be necessary to install additional hinges, which together will lead to an increase in the cost of the entire product. Therefore, the choice of a canvas by the criterion of massiveness, as well as by other parameters, should be based on rationality and optimality.

    Typical products prevailing in the market have thicknesses in a range of sizes 30-40 mm... Already in this fork of parameters, most often you can find doors 35 mm and 40 mm, as well as with intermediate values 36 mm and 38 mm.

    In addition to the indicated running dimensions, sliding MDF doors-partitions can be quite thin - from 20 mm, but the products of enterprises made of solid wood are unlikely to be produced with a base section of less than 40 mm(can be up to 50 or more on special orders). It should be noted that, relatively recently, but gaining popularity, that have come to private interiors, doors made of tempered glass, the thickness of which starts from 8 mm.

    What else is good to know when choosing an interior door?

    When making measurements of the opening for the purchase of a new door, please note that it must be at least 30 mm more dimensions of the box along the top edge and in width. The installation gap is required to adjust the product with wedges, followed by fixing polyurethane foam... Of course, this value is relevant for the correct vertical and horizontal opening.

    Most boxes are made thick 35 mm... Those. overall width of the product assembled with the blade 800 mm will 870 mm (+35 mm * 2). Similarly, the size in height increases, although you still need to take into account whether there is or is not a threshold.

    Thick doors retain heat better and resist noise from adjacent rooms.

    Installing the box, before installation floor coverings, carefully calculate the level of the finished surface. If the door starts to rest on the floor, then it is very difficult to cut it perfectly on your own, and not every model will be able to do this.

    In conclusion, we can say that the interior door structure, with the apparent simplicity of the device, is quite sensitive to installation errors. Therefore, either its installation and configuration will take you a lot of time, or you will have to attract highly specialized specialists.

    When choosing interior doors, the main thing that you need to pay attention to is their dimensions. Indeed, in order to perform their functions, they must clearly stand in the opening, or in other words, have suitable parameters in width, height and thickness. There are no uniform established standards that all manufacturers must adhere to. But there are building codes, based on which doorways are made. Therefore, the width, height and thickness of the door directly depends on these indicators for the doorway.

    Canvas dimensions

    Based on the dimensions of the doorway, the standard width of the finished door of domestic manufacturers can range from 550 to 900 mm. European products can be 600, 700, 800 or 900 mm in width.

    In apartment buildings, as a rule, the size of the opening, and therefore the door, differs depending on the purpose of the room.

    • Width 550-600 mm is usually made for toilet and bathroom doors.
    • An opening of 700 mm is constructed at the entrance to the kitchen.
    • Doors of 800 mm separate living quarters.
    • A 900 mm wide leaf is often installed as a second door at the entrance.

    The most common thickness of modern doors can be in the range of 35-40 mm. But deviations are possible both in one and the other direction. It is influenced by the types of products and the material from which they are made. So, the thickness sliding structures can be as small as 20 mm. And the canvases made of wood can be up to 50 mm.

    A few decades ago, the height of the door could have two values: 1.9 or 2 meters. Today, due to the use of different styles and design solutions, the parameters offered by manufacturers can reach 2.1 and even 2.3 meters. Our height standards are 2 meters, and in Europe 2.1. It should be noted that in recent years, designers and builders are increasingly relying on foreign standards.

    Box dimensions

    Doors can be sold with or without ready-made frames and fittings. It is a U-shaped structure and is mounted along the perimeter of the opening, helping to fix the canvas with fittings. Standard sizes door frames for interior doors will differ from each other, and depend on the size of the door leaf. Therefore, it is better to buy a complete door with a ready-made box, fittings and trims.

    A door frame is made of bars, which may differ in parameters. Their width varies between 15 and 40 mm, but values of 30-35 mm are considered optimal. If they are observed, the reliability of the entire structure and a long service life are ensured.

    The thickness of the box must match the thickness of the wall. This value is important because it should not exceed the width of the opening in which the installation will be made. For brick walls the standard thickness is 75 mm, and for wood - 100. If the structure is narrower, then you will need to use special additional elements. And the box, which is larger in size than the wall, cannot be fastened neatly and reliably.

    When assembling the box manually, to determine the size of the vertical posts, the height of the leaf and the thickness of the horizontal strip, the mounting gap and the size of the ventilation gap or threshold are taken into account. The size of the horizontal part is determined based on the width of the door.

    Sizes of openings

    Knowing the standard dimensions of interior doors with a frame and fittings, you can easily determine the width of the opening during the construction of walls and the construction of partitions. To do this, the double width of the door frame of the interior door and the size of the mounting gap on both sides are added to the width of the door leaf. It is usually 15 mm. For example, 800 + 30 * 2 + 15 * 2 = 890 mm.

    The height is calculated in a similar way. For a door without a threshold, it will be 2000 + 30 + 15 + 5 = 2050, where 5 is the size of the mandatory gap at the bottom between the leaf and the floor for air exchange. If necessary, it can be increased up to 10 mm. And if the house is supplied with liquefied gas, then the gap should be at least 15-20 mm to ensure good ventilation. If your door has a sill, then the height of the opening is determined by adding the height of the threshold to the size of the canvas, the width of the box and the assembly seam.

    And vice versa, knowing the standards, it is easy to calculate the width of the door leaf for existing openings. For example, for an opening of 900 mm, an 800 mm door is needed. It is calculated as follows: 900-15 * 2-30 * 2 = 810 mm. And the excess 10 mm will be successfully hidden under the platbands.

    When calculating the dimensions, it is advisable to add the size of the gap, which is recommended to be left between the box and the door leaf. But since it is only 1-2 mm, then in rough calculations it can be ignored.

    Double doors

    The above values apply to single leaf designs. Double-leaf interior doors are often installed at the entrance to the living room. Their standard widths range from 1 to 1.4 meters. At the same time, double-leaf types of doors can have different or identical sizes of individual halves. For example, a product with a width of 1400 mm can consist of two parts 700 mm each or one 600, and the second 800 mm.

    Doors with a hidden frame

    Interior doors with a hidden frame have a number of advantages over conventional ones. But the price of such structures is much higher. The same applies to the requirements for the dimensions of the finished opening.

    The dimensions of the opening must strictly comply with the requirements of the door manufacturer. The wall should be vertically even. A deviation of only 1 mm per meter of height is allowed. Wall thickness should not exceed 80 mm. The optimum value for the width of the mounting gap is 17-20 mm plus / minus 10 mm. In some models of products with a hidden box, deviations are not allowed at all. The gap under the web should ideally be 4.

    Doors to order

    The variety of dimensions of interior doors with a frame and fittings offered by manufacturers is very large. But, despite this, there are often situations when none of the manufactured sizes fits the existing opening. In this case, you can either adjust it so that the width and height decrease or increase to the required ones, or order doors with non-standard parameters.

    Manufacturing custom-made doors is significantly more expensive than buying ready-made products. But such a step will make it possible to embody non-standard ideas.
