• What can be cooked from squid: quick and tasty

    We love, if the weather permits, with friends to fry on outdoors kebabs. However, if the weather does not allow, too ... we fry. But in any weather, barbecue without a barbecue is not a serious matter. If you have private house or a summer cottage, you can make a stationary solid installation that combines a brazier and a barbecue grill. They are usually made partly from brick or natural stone, partly from metal. If you don't want to build something serious, you can weld a metal brazier and put it nearby - in the backyard under a canopy, in a garage, in a pantry, etc. If you are a lover of outdoor recreation in any form, you cannot do without a portable barbecue. Moreover, one that will be convenient to carry / transport. Here's how to make a brazier out of metal with your own hands and will be discussed further.

    We fry kebabs when the weather permits, and when not ... that's why we need a barbecue at any time of the year

    The size of the barbecue made of metal

    Of all the parameters of metal braziers, only the height of the walls (side) remains more or less constant: it is usually in the range of 13-15 cm.If you make it smaller, closely spaced coals will burn the meat, if you raise it higher, you will need a lot of coals for normal frying. And we do not always have the opportunity or desire to wait until a sufficiently large number of them are prepared. So 13-15 cm is the smartest choice.

    Choose all other sizes of metal braziers based on your personal preferences or circumstances:

    Sometimes they also make a second plate with longitudinal holes on the bottom, like a grate. Probably, this is necessary so that the metal at the bottom does not burn out, but it is quite possible to do without this part.

    The designs of metal braziers do not differ in special variety. This is a brazier with legs. The dimensions of the brazier and the height of the legs are all changes. There are, of course, real works of art, but there are simpler options for going out into nature.

    Making stationary models

    There are several ways. They are not very different, but there is still a difference.

    Method one: with a minimum of welds

    It can be used if you have a large enough piece of metal to hold the entire reamer. In this case, mark out all the dimensions found above, cut out the "extra" corners. Then carefully trim the folds with a grinder: it will be easier to bend.

    We start everything by drawing dimensions on a sheet of metal, then cut out the extra corners (to increase the size of the picture, click on it with the left mouse button)

    Next, we start working as a welding machine. For metal welding, 2-3 mm is best suited. Probably, the brazier is the best product for a novice welder. There is no need for tightness of the seams. Holes are even welcome - air for combustion will flow through them. Having applied four seams, we get a ready-made barbecue box.

    Bend the workpiece, then weld the seams (to increase the size of the picture, click on it with the left mouse button)

    If thin metal is used - 1.5-2 mm, the bottom and walls can bend. To prevent this from happening, they can be reinforced with a corner or a profile pipe.

    The bottom and walls can be strengthened so that they do not bend from high temperatures

    Next, it remains to weld only the legs. They can be from corners, or pipes. The options are different, but both can be used. How to weld legs from pipes to a metal brazier, see the photo. By the way, according to the same principle, you can make legs at a collapsible barbecue - choose the diameters so that they fit tightly. Or weld the nuts to the bottom, and cut a thread on a smooth reinforcement of the appropriate diameter.

    Another way to make legs from corners or shaped pipe... It's even easier here: you weld in the corners.

    Method two: welding a lot

    This case is suitable for you if you have metal, but it is available in small pieces. Then just cut the necessary blanks, and then weld them. In this case, of course, better quality is needed: their length is much greater.

    The second way to make a brazier out of metal with your own hands is to cut all the necessary parts for the box and then weld (to increase the size of the picture, click on it with the left mouse button)

    After the box is assembled, it remains to weld the legs. There are no differences here. Several options are described above.

    Method three: on a frame made of corners

    The sequence of actions differs from the second option. Perhaps it is more The right way: there is a frame that will not let the metal bend. In general, such a homemade brazier turns out to be more durable. After the sequence of work is as follows:

    • weld a frame from corners (in the photo on the left) or a profile pipe (in the photo on the right)
    • weld the bottom to it, and then the walls.

    Well, if you are making a brazier for yourself, with your own hands, it may make sense to provide a tabletop and / or a frame for storing skewers for comfort, as in the photo below. The brazier is reinforced with a shaped tube along the upper edge. The reinforcement is welded so that "additions" can be inserted. So both the table and the skewer stand - can be inserted or not at will.

    And for those who like to do everything thoroughly, there is the idea of an iron barbecue under a canopy. Nicely done. Such a metal brazier with a roof was made by a novice welder. He used this project to train:. Highly good idea, and the execution is not bad.

    If you are interested in barbecues that are quickly made and do not require special skills, pay attention to.

    Do-it-yourself collapsible metal brazier

    For trips to nature, hunting or fishing, a lightweight, portable collapsible option is more suitable. There are similar products in stores, but they are made of very thin metal and they last for a long time. Therefore, it is better to make a portable brazier with your own hands.

    They are of several types:

    • folding;
    • prefabricated.

    Folding (folding) braziers in a suitcase and without

    Folding barbecues are made most often in the form of a suitcase. Some come with carrying handles. Others require a separate case or some sort of suitcase diplomat.

    A brazier in a suitcase is a good idea (to increase the size of the picture, click on it with the left mouse button)

    In this version, the owner made a brazier of metal under the existing suitcase. Parts are attached to metal door hinges. They were welded with manual electric arc welding. Specifically, this model's legs are painfully thin, but these are the costs of compactness.

    Another portable option outdoor grill... It can also be “packed” in a suitcase, but you can also sew a canvas bag: cheap and cheerful.

    Another brazier that can be put in a suitcase (to increase the size of the picture, click on it with the left mouse button)

    In this version, the bottom is made with folding legs. The rest of the parts fit inside separately. The sidewalls are fastened to each other by cuts that go to the middle of the height in different directions.

    Another design of a folding barbecue is shown in video format.

    Collapsible braziers

    They differ from the previous ones in that they consist of separate, unattached parts. Collected on the spot. Assembly methods are different - somewhere it is a few bolts, somewhere - grooves and cuts. When manufacturing, welding is not needed, but you will need a grinder with a diamond disc or a metal saw.

    The prefabricated metal brazier shown in the photo resembles a children's designer. The idea is interesting, the implementation is excellent. Welding is not needed, but masterly mastery of the grinder is necessary. If there is no skill of this level, you can finish the most difficult places with a metal saw. If you decide to do something like this with your own hands, first make a layout in cardboard. It is advisable to take it the same thickness as you will use the metal. Assemble the finished layout, adjust it so that everything is perfect. Then you can transfer the patterns to the metal.

    Brazier made of metal without welding is made of of stainless steel(to increase the size of the picture, click on it with the left mouse button)

    The following collapsible barbecues are made according to the type of those sold in stores. In them, the legs are made of corners, cuts are made in the legs in the form of tongues. These tabs are slightly bent. Holes are made in the sidewalls for these projections. When assembling, the sides are "pushed" onto the tabs.

    Collapsible brazier made of metal - it's easy to do it yourself (to increase the size of the picture, click on it with the left mouse button)

    The bottom in such a model of a prefabricated barbecue is not fixed by anything. The lower part of the sidewalls is bent inward by 3-4 mm. After fixing them on the legs along the perimeter, a side is obtained. The bottom fits onto this side. Having experience in operating just such a model, I can say that the structure turns out to be rather wobbly and you need to behave with it carefully: having installed it, you will not move it, otherwise everything may fall apart. But our grill is made of a very thin metal of 1 mm. Perhaps if you use a large thickness, there will be no problem.

    Another version of the prefabricated barbecue differs from the previous ones in that its legs are forged. Sidewalls are attached to them due to special plates.

    Collapsible brazier on forged legs (to increase the size of the picture, click on it with the left mouse button)

    And you will see the simplest of the metal braziers in the photo below. If you have two pieces of a corner and a grinder, you can make it in a few minutes. If you cannot bend, you can drill holes and fasten with a bolt and nut.

    The simplest metal shashlik maker. You can do it yourself in a few minutes

    Install it over the fire pit, hammering the legs into the ground. Not very convenient, but very simple. On the "fire" case will come down.

    How to paint a metal brazier

    If you are confused about rust on metal, you will have to scrape it off by hand. Preferably no chemicals do not use, work only with brushes, sandpaper. If desired, it can be painted. But paints should be heat-resistant, and even better - heat-resistant, because only they can withstand the burning temperature of firewood. There are several options:

    • heat-resistant paint CERTA (Certa) withstands up to + 900 ° С, there is a different name for the same paint OS-82-03T;
    • heat-resistant enamel Rust-oleum, can be used up to + 1093 ° С, matte, sometimes in white, gray, black;
    • heat-resistant enamel (paint) "KO-8101" withstands heating up to + 650 ° C, there are twelve basic colors;
    • heat-resistant enamel KO-8111 Thermica also has anti-corrosion properties, withstands heating up to + 600 ° C.

    If you want to. They create a downright monumental impression. Even the simplest ones. You can practice on simple models.

    Blueprints

    And finally, a few drawings. Change the dimensions at your discretion, there is no crime in this.

    Drawing of a collapsible barbecue

    We will send the material to you by e-mail

    During rest, barbecues are in constant demand. Even inveterate residents of megalopolises grill a barbecue at least once a year. Budget option for home and in a convenient way for a country trip, do-it-yourself metal braziers remain. Dimensions, photos and instructions below will help you make any type of hearth with minimal cost budget. All this in more detail in our today's review.

    Homemade metal brazier

    Varieties of barbecues, materials, characteristics

    A metal hearth is built faster than a brick barbecue oven, does not require the delivery of building materials, special skills. There are various do-it-yourself metal braziers. Dimensions, photos and designs may vary significantly. Since equipment for the preparation of hot dishes is hastily constructed for long-term operation, the choice of materials and dimensions of a stationary or mobile hearth should be taken seriously.

    Classification

    Steel barbecues are traditionally distinguished according to several criteria, the main ones of which are:

    • mobility - stationary, mobile or portable hearth;

    • configuration - barrel, classic rectangular box, complex shape;

    • dimensions - for a large company, family gatherings;

    • functional - covers to protect the coals, a compartment for firewood on the side, a hinged roof.

    Decorative elements are usually present in mobile or stationary modifications. The service life of the hearth depends on the thickness of the body. Portable barbecues are divided into collapsible and transformable ("suitcase").

    What can be made of?

    The budget option is constructions from used products manufactured industrially... For example, a propane tank or a 20L barrel are almost ready-made bodies, to which you just need to weld the legs.

    Old coffee tables, sewing machines on the contrary, they provide the craftsmen with cast legs of the original shape; you only need to supplement the structure with side walls. Classic barbecues are constructed from sheet steel, rolled metal (corner or shaped pipe).

    Brazier dimensions

    • the length of a standard skewer with 6 pieces of meat is 25 cm, so the width of the barbecue should be increased to 30 cm;
    • The simplest version without a side compartment for coals has a length of 0.7 - 1 m for a family, for receiving guests, respectively, based on the fact that for normal roasting of a skewer, the distance should be 10 cm;
    • a depth of 20 - 25 cm allows you to cook meat faster, but there is a risk of burning, therefore 30 cm from the skewer to the coals is recommended;
    • depending on the height of the chef, 0.5 - 0.7 m legs are more convenient for mobile hearths, 0.8 - 1.2 m for stationary structures.

    Useful information! If the brazier is made from a barrel, the coals are unevenly located inside it, the structure is complemented by a hearth - a steel sheet at a specified depth.

    DIY brazier, instructions for making, drawings, photos

    The easiest way is to choose a thick-walled (2 mm minimum) barrel or a large propane cylinder for a barbecue made of metal with your own hands. Dimensions, photos explain the process of building a stationary hearth. It is important to take into account the height of the hearth when making legs / stand, add a pipe to the side of the structure.

    Cut materials

    The barrel (balloon) can be cut in two ways:

    • cut a hatch to provide access to the inner space of the firebox;

    • cut off the top completely (1/3 - 1/2 cylinder).

    Hinges will be needed in any case to cover the top for fast food meals or during bad weather. The barrel can lean on cross-welded racks, ordinary legs from a profile pipe, a corner or a special frame, inside which a brazier is placed.

    "Pod" is cut out of the sheet, taking into account the distance from it to the skewers of 30 cm. For reliable positioning of the brazier inside the barrel, two corners are welded on the ends of the cylinder.

    Assembly

    To assemble the brazier, it is enough to fasten the hinges, put a brazier sheet inside the lower compartment. The side pipe of the chimney is necessary for the normal combustion of firewood when the hatch is closed in bad weather or windy weather. To prevent spontaneous closing of the cover by the wind, a latch is mounted.

    Skewers are placed in the cuts made by angle grinders. Holes are drilled along the ends of the barrel below the brazier to provide traction. Operation with a closed hatch is possible without a pipe - for this, it is enough to add holes in the upper part (checkerboard pattern, diameter from 1 cm).

    Useful information! Decoration (painting) of external surfaces is carried out with Certa, Elcon paints or similar heat-resistant paints.

    DIY folding brazier, drawings, photos

    There are do-it-yourself mobile barbecues made of metal, the size of the hearths and the design may differ significantly. For example, we will consider two leading modifications in the rating - a "suitcase" of a transformable type and a fully collapsible classic brazier.

    Moreover, House master can apply in its design a dozen variants of assemblies - hinged fastening of parts or their complete disassembly, removable, screw-in, folding legs at their discretion.

    "Suitcase"

    Do-it-yourself metal braziers transforming into a portable suitcase are constructed from blanks of the following configuration, size:

    • bottom - 2 - 3 mm sheet 0.3 x 0.9 m;
    • walls - lateral (long) 0.15 x 0.9 m, end (short) 0.15 x 0.3 m;
    • racks - round or profile pipe 0.6 - 08 m;
    • corner - 5 cm shelf, 2.2 m long.

    A frame of 0.3 x 0.9 m is welded from the corner, the bottom is laid inside it, attached to tacks. Long side walls are pivotally fixed to the frame (2 loops on each side), have two rows of holes in the lower part for traction, slots at the top for skewers. They are folded at the time of transportation, reclined during cooking.

    The end walls are removable, they are removed inside the suitcase when carrying, they are put on the corner of the frame during the preparation of the barbecue. To do this, a bar is welded onto each of them, rigidly pinching them inside the structure.

    The legs are either screwed into nuts welded to the corner at the corners, or inserted into square tubes 3 cm long. For carrying, a hinged handle from a bar is fixed on the side; to ensure the immobility of the long walls, a bolt can be passed through the suitcase into special holes, which is fixed from the back side with a nut.

    Collapsible brazier

    The design of this portable hearth is somewhat different from the previous version:

    • the rigid corner frame required for stowing the brazier has been replaced with 2 cm shelves bent 90 degrees on the long, short side walls;
    • the legs are made of a bent lightweight corner.

    To fix the elements of the barbecue relative to each other in the legs, side walls, a V-shaped perforation was created, bent outward (made with a chisel, bent with pliers). The side sheets are alternately inserted with perforated bent clamps into the brazier legs. The final rigidity of the structure is only achieved after the brazier has been laid.

    Almost all people are at heart of their romance and love to relax in the company of friends in nature. After all, how nice it is to sit by the fire, listen to songs with a guitar and, of course, it is difficult to imagine such a vacation without a delicious barbecue prepared by yourself. But in any weather, cooking a barbecue without a barbecue becomes difficult, inconvenient, and sometimes even impossible. It is the use of this device that makes such gatherings in good company comfortable and cozy.

    Initially, the grill was used as versatile tool for preparing various foods... Now this device is used most often for frying delicious kebabs and meat, using the natural heat from the coals.

    You can buy metal braziers at almost any hardware store. But sometimes so simple metal structure can be expensive without meeting the expectations of consumers in terms of quality and appearance. Therefore everything more people trying to make a brazier with his own hands from metal.

    Metal braziers - types

    Metal brazier can be of two types, depending on the purpose and place of use:

    Constant size metal braziers depth is considered... It is on the depth of the structure that the heating of meat depends. The optimal distance from the kebab to the coals is 150–180 mm. Therefore, to create such conditions, the depth must be 250 mm.

    The owners choose the remaining sizes based on their desires and preferences:

    • The width depends entirely on the size of the skewers used. It should be 8-10 cm less than the length of the skewers;
    • The length of the product is determined by the number of skewers that you want to use for one laying of meat. There should be a distance of 8-10 mm between the skewers;
    • The height of the entire barbecue is regulated by the installation of the legs. Its size is a purely individual matter. If the owner does not want to bend over, then a height of 70–80 cm is made. For portable models, in order to save money, the legs are made 20–30 cm high;
    • You will need to make ventilation holes to allow air to reach the coals. On the side walls, they are drilled at a height of 60 mm from the bottom with a step of 60–70 mm.

    After the size of the barbecue grill made of metal is determined, we proceed to the direct manufacture of the product. To start you need to make a drawing of the barbecue made of metal with dimensions.

    Making a brazier with your own hands

    A standard grill can be produced in several ways, which do not fundamentally change the design itself, but still have differences in the way of welding.

    In the first method it is advisable to use a large sheet of metal so that the entire development of the future product can fit on it. We start manufacturing by applying the dimensions of the future product to a sheet of metal. Then any cutting tool cut out the extra corners on the sheet. We carefully cut the folds with a grinder to facilitate the bending of the structure. Next, using a welding machine, we connect the walls. Having made only four welds, we get a ready-made barbecue box.

    If thin metal is used, then to strengthen the structure, it is recommended to weld on additional corners. Further, it remains only to weld the legs of the required length. As legs, you can use a profile pipe or an iron corner.

    Ventilation holes can be made both on the cut workpiece and on the finished box.

    Second way it is used if there is metal in small pieces. First, we cut rectangular pieces of metal, and then weld them into a box. With this method, the welds need to be made of better quality, and their length will be much larger. But the advantage of this method is that the bottom can be made from a thick piece of metal. This greatly increases the service life of the barbecue.

    With the third method first it is necessary to weld the frame of the future product from the corners or profile pipe. Then the bottom is welded to it, it can be made of metal of greater thickness than the walls. After that, the side walls are welded.

    To create a comfortable environment, a skewer frame and a table top can be welded on the sides. And for the opportunity to have a picnic in bad weather, it will be useful to cook a canopy.

    Collapsible model

    Not very hard to do the simplest collapsible brazier do it yourself without a welding machine:

    Do-it-yourself compact kebab maker

    Braziers made by folding type, quickly assembled and disassembled without the use of additional tools. They are very easy to transport, so they have become indispensable companions for tourists on a hike. Making such a product will take a little time:

    1. We cut a sheet of iron and make fragments similar to a portable structure.
    2. We connect the end and side walls with the bottom with furniture metal curtains.
    3. We weld hooks in the upper part of the walls to avoid spontaneous folding.
    4. We make removable legs.

    To install such a shashlik maker, you just need to raise the side walls and fix them with hooks. In the stowed position, such a product resembles an iron suitcase.

    Brazier smokehouse

    DIY brazier from metal barrel can serve as a smokehouse at the same time.

    Manufacturing process:

    When working in the smokehouse mode, sawdust is poured onto the bottom. Outside, the bottom of the barrel is heated either with a blowtorch, or with a fire. Smoke escapes through ventilation holes or slots in the cover.

    Welding a brazier from two cylinders

    If you have two empty gas cylinders, then you can make a versatile product for outdoor cooking. You can install such a metal brazier not only under any canopy, but also under the roof of the gazebo. For manufacturing you need:

    The result is a universal design, where the lower cylinder is a brazier, and the upper one is a smokehouse... When the firewood burns out in the lower cylinder, the smoke enters the smokehouse, and then it is discharged through the chimney outside the gazebo.

    Mini BBQ

    There is very little space for a standard barbecue in a city apartment. But still, those who like to cook delicious aromatic kebabs have found a way out of this situation. They are helped by a miniature balcony brazier, which is attached to the balcony railing. You can attach such a miniature product (no more than half a meter in length) to the wall in any convenient place.

    Plasticine brazier

    Children, like adults, are very fond of outdoor recreation. They are happy to play with dolls who also want to eat a bite. delicious kebab... That's why you need to make a brazier from plasticine:

    • For about 15 minutes you need to warm up the wire rack before putting meat on it;
    • In order for the meat to be well fried, it is enough to turn it once, frying for 5-6 minutes on each side;
    • The finished meat needs to be held for several minutes to allow it to cool slightly, while the juice is better distributed;
    • For grilling, the coals should be red with a slight bloom of gray ash;
    • To protect against burns, the shirt on the arm should be buttoned.

    There is a wide variety of models of barbecues. Drawings of metal braziers with dimensions can always be viewed on the Internet.

    Any vacation in the bosom of nature is simply impossible to imagine without cooking a barbecue. Currently, there is a huge number of different barbecues (for summer cottages and not only), both of a classic design and an exclusive project, made to order, taking into account all the features landscape design... Brazier design in classic style very simple. Basically, this is a metal box made of sheets of various thicknesses, since it is believed that the thicker the walls of the structure, the longer it will last.

    The main advantages of a metal barbecue:

    • Ease of manufacture. Almost anyone can make a metal brazier from scrap materials in the shortest possible time at their site.
    • Mobility. An important advantage of the barbecue, which, based on various circumstances, can be transferred to any convenient place, hidden in a closed room in winter.
    • Fire safety. Metal is traditionally one of the safest building materials.
    • Affordability. The cost of making a barbecue from metal using improvised and residual materials will be minimal.

    Even when going on vacation to nature, you can make a metal brazier, it is enough to find sheet metal, a rectangular profile and, using welding or bolted joints, fix the sheets to each other. Such a grill is made very quickly, it is easy to transport, convenient for those who regularly go out into the countryside. If you want to make a stationary structure on your personal plot, so that it complements the view in an original and functional way and ennobles the plot, then you will have to try.

    In the article, we will tell you how to make a brazier out of metal with your own hands, what dimensions should be, and also provide diagrams, drawings, photos and video instructions.

    Dimensions (edit)

    Before you make a brazier out of metal, you need to decide on its dimensions. Initially, you should focus on the number of people who traditionally or periodically can rest at the same time. If the family is small, of four or five people, then the structure will be enough small size, about 500 × 300 millimeters.

    If the grill is needed for big company, more than ten people, then calculate the approximate number of skewers that will be simultaneously on the grill and add 100 mm to the estimated size at the edges. If you plan to use a lattice, then you can calculate the dimensions in width, based on the parameters of the finished product (store lattice). It is important not to design the grill too deep, then more coals may be needed and the meat will cook slowly and unevenly.

    Making a simple barbecue

    It is very important to choose the right material when making a barbecue. So which metal is the best? Steel sheets are ideal, the wider the better. The legs can be made from the same sheet, pre-bent along the entire length with an angle, to give it rigidity. Great if you have welding machine... Then all sides of the product are marked on a sheet of metal, the excess is cut off and according to the marking they are bent at an angle of 90º. Along the edges of the surface, they are welded along the entire length, and then the bottom is welded to the finished workpiece. The legs can be attached loosely to the product so that they can be removed later during transportation or long-term storage.

    If there is no welding machine available, then the scheme will be different. Even when marking the frame, it is necessary to add 30–40 mm on each side. From the side of the joint, then this excess is folded, docked with the other side and drilled three holes through the joint: along the edges and in the middle. The surfaces are bolted. 4 cuts of 30–40 mm are made from the bottom along the ribs, gently bent inward at a right angle. It will turn out around the perimeter support platform, on which we already put the bottom on top. This design is more rigid enough to withstand coal and firewood.

    After assembling the frame, it is necessary to make holes in the side walls of the barbecue. The holes are made directly above the bottom. Holes with a diameter of 20–30 mm are optimal every 40–50 mm. The smaller the hole diameter, the more often it is necessary to make them. These technological holes are necessary for inflating the coals and supplying air. After that, legs are made that can be attached with bolts. Four bolts are sufficient per leg, two on each side. This will allow you to remove them in the future. If desired, the legs can be welded to the base of the barbecue.

    It is very simple to make a simple brazier out of metal. It is enough to have a locksmith's tool, sheets of metal, some free time and of course an important element - desire! However, not all people are satisfied with this simple construction, especially when you have to cook when the weather is not quite suitable. How to improve a metal brazier will be discussed further.

    We make a grill with a roof

    First you need to decide whether the grill will be stationary or you will clean it, because it may happen that after the roof appears over it, this structure will not fit in the shed.

    Portable option

    So that the grill can be moved somewhere, it should not be too bulky. In this case, you can make a removable roof. If this option suits you, then you need to take into account that the windage of the structure will increase, which means that a relatively light wind can overturn the brazier. To prevent this from happening, the brazier is placed with its legs on metal corners (the larger the roof area, the longer the corner should be) and bolted. Such a structure will not be difficult to disassemble, and then reassemble.

    Note! Depending on the type of roof chosen, it may be necessary to make a chimney to allow smoke to escape through it.

    Now let's start making the roof. For supports, you can use a corner or a pipe, the main thing is that its strength is enough to withstand wind loads. Insofar as it comes on a portable structure, then the supports must be fixed with screws on the legs, away from the heat of the coals. If this is not done, then promoting them will become a big problem.

    Having decided on the place of attachment of the supports, it is necessary to think over the shape and calculate the height of the roof. This is an important factor, since a high roof is not needed, and you can break your head on a low one. Photos and drawings placed at the end of the article will help you in choosing.

    Note! You can install and concrete a canopy, and just put the barbecue under it.

    Stationary option

    If you prefer to use the barbecue at any time of the year and there is a permanent place for it, then you can make a stationary structure with a roof.

    To begin with, there is no clear definition of what a grill with a roof is. The roof is small, located directly above the barbecue, or it can be a large canopy and even a gazebo. In each case, the design and dimensions are selected individually, based on the needs and capabilities of the owner.

    Note! In such a barbecue design, a stove is often present, and a place is provided for storing firewood.

    With an effort and showing ingenuity and ingenuity, you can make a masterpiece, or at least a convenient and practical grill that will delight you for many years.

    Schemes and drawings

    Brazier is a convenient and useful culinary equipment for cooking in the heat. This functional invention allows you to cook a variety of foods using the natural heat of the coals. Despite the fact that it was originally made as a universal cooking tool, today the grill is the basis for cooking meat and kebabs. Around it there are trips to the country and nature, seeing off autumn, meeting the arrival of spring and celebrating summer. And below we will provide drawings of metal braziers, their photos and videos on the technology of manufacturing braziers of various designs.

    Buying a barbecue is an expensive purchase. A simple metal structure sometimes costs a lot, without justifying its quality or its appearance. Therefore, it is much better to make a brazier with your own hands, using drawings, high-quality metal, as well as your skills.

    Barbecue base

    The brazier is a convenient tool for cooking in the heat. It has a very robust design, but all its features are nuanced. They make it possible to quickly and easily prepare kebabs and other dishes, providing a sufficient amount of heat for cooking.

    Among the main advantages of the barbecue are the following:

    • suitable sizes;
    • air holes;
    • depth;
    • recesses for skewers.

    While some of them are obvious, they are all required for quality cooking. As for the depth of the barbecue, it allows you to gain enough heat and place the meat at a height where it will cook, but not burn. This way you will be able to put in the required amount of wood.

    Air holes - especially important nuance these designs. After all, it is because of them that the meat that is cooked on the grill is very different from another method of cooking in nature. Regular air flow allows you to keep the temperature and heat of the coals to their full potential.

    Attention! Another nuance of the barbecue is a pallet. It prevents coals from falling through special ventilation holes in the bottom and facilitates partial air regulation.

    For the further use of the structure, sizing is extremely important. After all, cooking takes place on a wire rack or skewers, so you need to build on its average size. The brazier should be wide, which allows you to place the entire length of the skewer and should provide the required amount of heat, allow placing more than eight servings of meat.

    And the last nuance is the manufacture of recesses for skewers. They allow you to place the meat in any position, evenly frying it from different sides. This approach plays a big role in the preparation of a fragrant and juicy shish kebab without sticking.

    But these points always vary depending on the type of barbecue.

    We decide on the type of barbecue: drawings, photos

    It should be said right away that the varieties of such designs are numerous. After all, everyone wants to find the best option where to cook meat and other foods in the heat. Today, the following types of barbecue are distinguished:

    1. Normal.

    An ordinary brazier has a square design. Although they are heavy, they can be carried. It often has removable legs.

    1. Collapsible.

    Lightweight and small collapsible version that you can carry in your car. It is more convenient and simpler, and also suitable for hiking in the forest.

    1. Stationary.

    Powerful brazier made of metal. May be based on brick blocks providing high reliability. Often, such barbecues can be supplemented with steel decorations.

    The choice of the type of barbecue is very responsible for its self-construction. Thus, you can determine the tasks and choose the best way... However, it is recommended to choose the regular type as the most versatile choice for summer residents.

    Attention! Braziers can have different shapes. Round, rectangular, bent and other types are noted, the cooking on which may differ slightly.

    Drawings of metal braziers: photos of different types

    Before making the corresponding drawings and choosing the dimensions for the future barbecue, for the construction it is necessary to choose the best option, which is used most often. It is necessary to select the appropriate width and height of the structure, and the appropriate length of the legs. A drawing of an ordinary barbecue is provided as follows:

    Dimensions are in millimeters. It is clearly visible on it that the total height of the barbecue with a leg length of 70 cm and a length of 95 cm.In this case, the depth of the barbecue will be 25 cm, which protrudes optimal distance from heat to skewers.

    The width of the barbecue is 28 cm, which is slightly lower than the average size of the skewer. The length is 54 cm, you need to evenly distribute 9 servings over the heat.

    The upper part of the structure is equipped with skewer gaps. So, you can evenly distribute the meat and fix it freely while rotating, ensuring even roasting. Moreover, the distance between the gaps should be 6 cm. It is necessary to leave space between the extreme walls and the gaps so that the meat does not touch them, and also does not burn.

    Excellent airflow is an important nuance. Here it is achieved as a result of holes with a diameter of 12-15 mm, located on the side walls. The holes are staggered at the bottom of the metal sheet. They are not needed on the front sidewalls.

    Attention! The presented design does not imply the presence of a pallet and holes at the bottom of the barbecue. You can easily fix this by welding small corners to the bottom or legs and choosing the appropriate sheet of metal.

    How to prepare the elements of the future structure?

    The basis for the barbecue is metal sheets... We do not recommend using other materials, as the grill provides sufficient structural resistance to compactness and heat. The thickness of the metal should be approximately 2-3 mm. For work you will need:

    • Two sheets of metal with dimensions of 280x250 mm and 240x250 mm.
    • One sheet of metal 540x280 mm.
    • Angles 700 mm long and four metal pipes.
    • Welding machine.
    • Drill.
    • Roulette.
    • Saw for metal or grinder.

    Most people prefer a different build option. Different sheets can be replaced with a large metal sheet. By making cuts, you can join a structure with few welds. Thus, it will be more reliable.

    It is important to take into account additional elements if the design differs from the above. It can be supplemented with a pallet, carrying handles, foot recesses and more.

    First of all, you need to do some preliminary markup. Places of welding and fasteners are marked, special gaps are created. For this, a saw or grinder is used. Air holes are also created at this stage.

    Attention! Often such a structure is made on reinforcing legs. They are unreliable, since the structure will stagger even under light loads. Therefore, it is better to replace them with corners.

    How to weld a barbecue with your own hands

    Welding is the best barbecue solution. It is capable of withstanding high temperature fluctuations and effective bolting. To do this, use a welding machine, regardless of its type. Then the structure is fixed in turn, and welding is performed in the corners.

    Attention! For more convenient welding, it is worth using metal corners along the sides. They can also increase the reliability of the seams, as well as significantly weight the structure.

    Then comes the welding of the handles and legs. They are fixed along the sides (corners) or to the bottom of the structure (pipes). It is necessary to weld them securely, since the grill itself will be quite heavy.

    Attention! To fix the legs, you can use collapsible elements rather than a welding machine. Removable legs will significantly reduce the dimensions of the barbecue during its storage.

    Upon completion of the work, you need to grind the seams, and also check the entire structure for reliability.

    Metal braziers with a canopy: drawings

    To cook kebabs in bad weather, you can use a special barbecue design. This allows you to hide the heat and meat from precipitation, but this design itself is not simple. There are two options for action:

    • installation of a canopy directly on the barbecue;
    • installation of an additional canopy that does not apply to the barbecue.

    The last option will be more rational, since it allows you to hide not only the kebabs, but also the person who is watching their preparation. The first option requires additional costs, since the base must withstand the load from the canopy.

    In this case, we recommend fixing the structure to metal corners. This is the best option as it makes it easier to assemble. The canvas for the canopy is most often corrugated board. It is fireproof, does not react to temperature changes in any way and is notable for its low weight, which is important for a lightweight design.

    The assembly of the canopy is not much different from the usual one, and only fire protection and a competent location of the base are required. Thus, you can safely cook food without worrying about the fact that you can catch on the fittings.

    It is worth noting that a metal brazier with a canopy is a difficult option that experienced welders can do. Here it is important to create reliable design, the weight of which will be evenly distributed on the base. For stationary barbecues such a canopy is much easier to make, since a load-bearing foundation can be arranged for them.

    A canopy structure can be decorated with metal elements, as you can see in the photo. It won't just improve appearance, but will also make the canopy more stable and reliable.

    Attention! If the roof is installed low, equip it with a special air duct.

    Finished product painting

    An important issue in the manufacture of a barbecue is painting. It cannot be dispensed with, since the metal used in the structure is subject to rust, and ash and soot do not improve its appearance.

    For painting, special compositions are used, to which the following requirements are imposed:

    • heat resistance;
    • resistance to temperature extremes;
    • no harmful fumes.

    These requirements are met by the following coatings:

    • silicon-organic enamels;
    • heat-resistant paints for various purposes.

    It should be noted that painting the barbecue with your own hands is a rather complicated and responsible process. They need special firing, after which they receive their properties. Another option is offered - oxidation. It is quite costly to perform, but it is possible to make it yourself.

    It is better to choose black for paint. Since there will be a lot of ash and soot nearby, the rest of the coatings will quickly get dirty. On this color, the plaque will be absolutely invisible.

    Attention! Painting should only be done on the outside. Inside, the coating peels off quickly enough as a result of the high heat, and there is no point in this.

    Making a brazier with your own hands is quite simple. To do this, you need a sheet of metal, a welding machine and a desire. However, it is worth adhering to the plan and scheme, since in the future any deviations may be reflected in the convenience of its use. But the materials of our site "Remontik", among which drawings of metal barbecues and their photos, as well as a video on their production, will be especially useful, will allow you to cope with this task.
