• What can be cooked from squid: quick and tasty

    In modern homes, apartments, offices and industrial premises great importance acquires the ability to maintain optimal temperature conditions. For this, special devices are used - thermostats or thermostats, as they are also called.

    The general principle of operation of any thermostat is quite simple - you set the required air temperature, and the thermostat controls this value by adjusting the operating parameters of the heater (boiler, floor heating system, radiator).

    The advantages of using thermostats are obvious, they include:

    • automatic maintenance of a comfortable temperature regime;
    • significant energy savings;
    • extending the service life of heating devices;
    • reducing the volume of harmful emissions into the atmosphere.

    Electronic and mechanical thermostats for heating

    There are many types of thermostats on the market today, they can be divided into several categories in accordance with their design and purpose:

    • mechanical and electromechanical thermostats - budget devices that maintain the set temperature;
    • digital programmable thermostats - devices that allow you to set the preferred temperature regime by day of the week and time of day;
    • weather-dependent regulators - high-tech devices that allow you to control the heating system depending on the outside temperature;
    • emergency thermostats that protect heating and water heating equipment from overheating.

    Even the simplest mechanical thermostat for heating is able to significantly reduce the consumption of gas or electricity. A digital electronic thermostat provides the ability to set several heating modes - individually for each room, depending on the day of the week and time of day. The memory of programmable thermostats, most often, already contains preset profiles, but you can also set your own values.

    The electronic temperature thermostat can be aggregated with the heating system using wired or radio control. The most sophisticated of them are capable of controlling several heating boilers and water heaters. The price of a thermostat for a gas boiler depends on the type of device.

    Baxi boilers are an excellent choice for autonomous heating systems... They are distinguished by increased comfort, various automation and ease of use. Any additional equipment can be connected to the boiler. An example are programmers, or room thermostats for Baxi gas boilers.

    Advantages of Baxi boilers

    Main 24 Fi 24 kW

    The advantages of Baxi gas boilers are obvious, and the capabilities of such units are multifaceted. We list only the main advantages of such boiler equipment:

    • Possibility of connecting additional elements, sensors and automation systems.
    • The ability to automatically change temperature modes depending on the delta temperatures outside and at home.
    • Economical operation.
    • "Smart" self-diagnosis systems.
    • The possibility of using the unit not only in traditional heating networks, but also in the "warm floor" system.

    Optional accessories

    Note! Most models are equipped with built-in electronics, control systems and a variety of sensors as standard. Installation additional accessories facilitates operation, making it simpler, more convenient and efficient.

    Optional accessories open up a whole range of options for controlling your equipment:

    • Temperature control according to the time of day and season.
    • Setting the temperature in different rooms.
    • Work in economy mode.

    All this reduces gas consumption, which means that it makes the system energy efficient and its operation economical. Paradoxically, most consumers refuse to install additional equipment for reasons of economy. Of course, the installation of these devices will lead to an increase in the cost of the system. But on the other hand, it will save on heating bills.

    The installation of additional devices pays off already in the first two heating seasons. So accessories to gas boilers Baxi is not only about added comfort, but also about significant fuel savings.

    Variety of accessories

    Accessories and additional equipment for boilers Baxi there are many on the market. Let's list the main ones:

    Clear display
    • Digital timer. The device allows you to program the operation engineering networks for a certain period. When using it, the boiler will turn on / off at the time specified by the consumer. This device can be used not only for programming heating, but also for boilers.
    • Room thermostat, or thermostat. This device maintains the set temperature and allows you to control the microclimate. The boiler equipped with a programmer will operate in automatic mode. In this case, no intervention on the part of the consumer in the operation of the unit is required.
    • Outside temperature sensor. To keep the house warm, the outside air temperature must be taken into account. The power with which the boiler must operate directly depends on the delta (difference) of room and outdoor temperatures. The outside temperature sensor allows you to maintain a constant mode regardless of the weather outside the window.
    • Room temperature sensor. It is recommended to install it together with the above-described device. Both devices, working in pairs, guarantee the so-called self-adaptation of the boiler.
    • Digital control panel. This is a real highlight. You can install it in a convenient place. With its help, not only control takes place, but also system diagnostics. This device can be used in conjunction with the programmer or separately from it.

    These are not all the accessories that can be connected to Baxi room gas boilers. You should dwell in more detail on the most common device - a thermostat, or a thermostat.

    Why do you need a thermostat?

    Suitable thermostat

    In fact, a thermostat is a device that allows you to automatically regulate the temperature in a room. It can be argued that it is easy to regulate the boiler operation modes without automation, that is, manually. In this case, the thermostat becomes an unnecessary luxury, entailing unnecessary costs of funds. Let's consider all the pros and cons of installing such accessories.

    When gas boilers are operating, the microclimate in the premises is controlled by changing the temperature of the coolant. When the set value is reached, the boiler turns off, and when it decreases, it turns on again. When the outside temperatures change, it is necessary to change the parameters of the heating system, and this must be done manually. As a result, interventions in the operation of boiler equipment are required during the entire heating season.

    The time and attention taken by the boiler when manually adjusting its operation is not the best important issues... In such a mode, frequent starts / shutdowns of the boiler occur, which does not in the best way affect its performance, and the reliability of the system as a whole. There is one more problem. When the boiler is operating in constant on / off mode circulation pump continues to function. As an energy consumer, it increases energy costs, which increases the financial costs of heating. Not to mention the negative impact on the operation of the system.

    As you can see, manual control for a high-tech gas boiler is not the best the best way... Now let's consider what the thermostat can change. The device has room temperature sensors that monitor the temperature not of the water in the system, but of the air in the rooms. As a result, the boiler is turned on / off when there is a deviation from the set temperature regime, and not when the water heating decreases.

    The start / stop frequency is significantly reduced. When programming the device, you can set the optimal threshold for triggering such a sensor. In addition, you can set the delay time for turning on or off the boiler when the sensors are triggered. This will minimize the likelihood of starting the heater in the event of a short-term drop in temperature, for example, as a result of a draft.

    Model TAM011MI Seitron

    As practice shows, installing a programmer allows you to save 25-30% of energy. The device does not allow excessive consumption of fuel. When the boiler is turned off, the circulation pump is also automatically turned off, which saves energy. All this speaks in favor of installing room thermostats.

    The payback of such accessories is beyond doubt. There are various models of thermostats on the market that differ not only in technical parameters, but also in price. It is not difficult to choose the best accessory. As an example, we can name thermostats TAM0 11MI, Menred RTC 70, Raychem TE Basic, DEVIreg Touch, Nest, domestic MCS 300, etc.

    Central thermostat

    This type of programmer is installed in the house and is connected to the heater either with wires or using wireless networks. The latter are more expensive, but more convenient and efficient.

    The main advantage of wireless thermostats is the ability to install them anywhere. At the same time, they do not violate the interior, and no complicated devices or destruction are required for their installation. building structures... The case is attached with self-tapping screws, after which all the necessary electronics are connected, and the required parameters are set. Such a device can operate remotely. It can be operated not only with gas, but also with solid fuel boilers.

    Installation rules

    Room regulator

    Installation of central thermostats is simple. But it is necessary to adhere to several rules in order not to disrupt the efficiency of the system in the future:

    • The regulator is mounted in such a way as to provide free air flow.
    • There should be no household electrical appliances, lamps, touch switches, additional heaters, etc. nearby.
    • The thermostat must be easily accessible.

    Additional options

    The main function of thermostats is temperature control. For greater efficiency, the devices have additional options:

    • The ability to turn off the heating for several hours, for example, in the absence of people in the house for a long time.
    • The ability to temporarily change all programmed operating modes.
    • Possibility of changing the temperature regime on certain days.

    The benefits of installing a thermostat are obvious. The payback of the devices is also beyond doubt. Nevertheless, the desire to save money on the installation of such a useful device remains strong. This often encourages home "homemade" to do everything with their own hands. And not just install the device yourself, but also assemble it from scrap materials.

    Installation process

    Theoretically, it is possible to make a thermostat with your own hands. This requires a thermistor to reduce resistance when heated. Then another resistor is connected to the network, with the help of which the temperature will be programmed. Element 2I-NOT will operate in inverter mode, and voltage will be supplied to it. A capacitor is connected to it and to the trigger. To control the relay, the galvanic isolation on the triac is amplified. The device can be made both on a mole rat and on a printed circuit board.

    Using such a simple scheme, you can assemble a thermostat for almost any boiler. But is it worth interfering with the operation of high-tech equipment? It is up to the owner of the house to decide. Experts advise against experimenting with homemade devices, especially since the market can pick up accessories for any boiler.

    In order not to be mistaken in choosing a programmer and purchase suitable model, it is enough to adhere to the simple advice of experts:

    Features of choice
    • It is advisable that the boiler and its accessories are made by the same manufacturer.
    • Powerful models of heating equipment can be operated with any programmer options.
    • Before buying, it is worth calculating the necessary technical specifications, otherwise there is a high probability of equipment downtime.
    • If it is necessary to install a device of a high power class, it may be necessary to change the wiring, therefore it is better to consult a specialist.

    Do you still have doubts? You can always buy a cheap model with a minimum set of functions and options. Its operation will clearly show how expedient the installation of expensive additional accessories.

    Conclusion

    Additional accessories for Baxi gas boilers are not a luxury, but an opportunity to make the heating system energy efficient in the full sense of the word. Installing only one room thermostat can reduce heating costs by about 25-30%.

    Integral part of the heating system modern home is the automatic control equipment. Among the owners of houses, cottages and apartments, room thermostats and programmers are gaining popularity, which allow you to control energy consumption by maintaining comfortable temperature.

    Types of thermoregulation in heating systems

    In principle, there are three types of thermoregulation:

    • by the temperature of the coolant;
    • by air temperature in the room;
    • on the heat loss of the home.

    Regulation by the temperature of the coolant is relevant for houses with an area of less than 60 sq.m. This method is used in most modern dwellings. Regarding the information that comes from the temperature sensor, the boiler burner stops or restarts. Regulation is carried out by setting the desired temperature mark on the panel of the boiler equipment.

    Room temperature control is acceptable for dwellings with an area of 60-350 sq.m. Manufacturers produce thermostats of various modifications - with the ability to install programs, wired, wireless, etc. The use of a thermostat can reduce energy costs by up to 25%. In premises with an area of more than 350 sq.m. professionals recommend installing weather-dependent automation. In this case, the boiler equipment will replenish heat losses at home. A special sensor reads the temperature outside, and according to these indicators, regulates the operation of the boiler.

    Features of room thermostats

    Before buying a room thermostat for a gas boiler and an electric boiler, you should carefully understand the mechanics of such a device. A room thermostat is a device for automatically regulating the operation of boiler equipment in accordance with the air temperature set by the consumer. The thermostat is equipped with temperature sensors, which are installed in an area far from the direct influence of heating devices. Information from the temperature sensors is fed to the thermostat. The room thermostat monitors the air temperature in the home. The equipment prevents the room from overheating or overcooling. This significantly saves energy and creates a comfortable microclimate in the home.

    The room thermostat is designed to maintain a set room temperature in relation to a pre-programmed schedule. Regulators can control the operation of boiler equipment, heating radiators, underfloor heating and other heating devices.

    Depending on the connected heater, room thermostats have some design features. For example, a thermostat for boiler equipment must have a dry contact relay output. For electric underfloor heating, thermostats with a power relay are used.

    Varieties of thermostats

    Regarding the connection, thermostats are divided into two classes:

    • wired;
    • wireless.

    A wired thermostat uses a cable to transmit the signal. The power supply voltage is also supplied via the cable. Wired thermostats are at an affordable price and are often used in those facilities where it is not finished fine finishing, there is a need to lay a cable from the heating device.

    In those houses where the renovation is completely finished, it is more rational to use wireless thermostats. The devices send a control signal to the slave receiver via a radio channel. Wireless devices consist of two functional blocks. The first is a controller with an LCD screen and keyboard for ease of operation. The second block is an executive device. The first unit is placed in any convenient place in the dwelling at a distance of up to 50 m from the second receiver unit. The second unit is installed directly at the boiler and connected to it.

    The wireless boiler room thermostat has an operating range of up to 30 meters. In case of signal loss, the built-in microprocessor controller is able to operate based on the data stored for the last 24 hours. The accuracy of adjusting the temperature regime of the device is within the range of up to 0.2 ° C. Control here is simplified to two function buttons (temperature increase and decrease).

    In terms of their functional component, thermostats can be programmable and non-programmable. By programming the thermostat, you can set the temperature for each day at certain time intervals. Such a temperature change schedule will significantly save on heating. Non-programmable devices maintain a constant temperature. They are capable of manually switching day / night modes or supporting an anti-freeze function.

    The programmable thermostats are equipped with a variety of useful features... For example, the "vacation" option provides energy savings by reducing the temperature during the absence of people up to several days. After disabling the function, the thermostat switches to normal operation.

    Most modern devices are digital wireless thermostats. They connect with external devices by means of a radio signal at a frequency of 868 MHz. Thanks to wireless technology, devices become mobile - they can be carried to any convenient place without the need to lay electrical cables. To organize a complex configuration, zone regulation is used. In this case, the room is divided into separate temperature zones, an individual program is set for each of them.

    Benefits of using a room thermostat:

    • possibility remote control boiler equipment;
    • the ability to change the heating and cooling mode;
    • automatic maintenance of a comfortable temperature in the home;
    • saving up to 40% of the coolant.

    Installation requirements

    The room thermostat should be located in a location with good air circulation. It is mounted on inner wall, at a height of about 1.5 m from the floor. The thermostat should not be located in a draft area, near heating appliances, in places where direct sun rays... Places with high level moisture condensation. Since wireless devices are radio frequency (RF), they are placed outdoors. The devices must be installed at a distance of at least 30 cm from any metal objects and electrical equipment.

    Boiler room thermostats

    The price of equipment for a boiler depends on the complexity of the development. The main factors affecting the cost:

    ● installation method (the simpler, the more expensive);

    ● control method (remote or wired);

    ● the ability to adjust the temperature range;

    ● complexity of automation (self-adaptation or custom mode).

    Thermostat is a thermostatic device that is responsible for boiler operation control depending on the air temperature.

    Thermostats are indoor and outdoor(street). For outdoor use, sensors can also be used.

    Baxi gas equipment has the ability to connect both room and outdoor thermostats and sensors.

    Indoor appliances have a greater impact on timing(turning on and off) the boiler, and outdoor ones allow the unit to regulate coolant temperature. The air temperature outside and in the house is constantly changing, and the thermostat helps increase or decrease gas consumption for space heating.

    Types of thermostats for gas boilers Baxi

    Instruments for Baxi are thermostats compatible with Italian brand gas boilers.

    In terms of their functions, they do not differ from systems for other gas equipment. Typically, thermostats are distinguished by:

    • place of installation;
    • the principle of work;
    • way of control.

    At the place of installation, devices are divided into indoor and outdoor. Indoor rooms are used more often outdoor or outdoor, since they do not require protection from difficult weather conditions.

    Street options are used in cases where the owner of the house seeks to make the equipment work as accurate and economical as possible. The combination is especially effective in such cases. room thermostat and outdoor sensor allowed by Baxi units.

    According to the principle of operation, the thermostat can be mechanical or electronic. In the first case it is necessary to manually set the air temperature. In the second- a program is set according to which the boiler changes the intensity of work automatically.

    The way to control a mechanical thermostat is manual installation regime by turning the knob or pressing the buttons. The electronic or programmable version can be operated remotely. In this case, the sensor is located in any part of the room, and the control takes place remote control, computer or phone... In this case, contact with gas equipment remains wired.

    How to choose a Baksi thermostat

    Thermostats and sensors for gas boilers Baxi produced by the Italian company itself so it's best to choose them. If this is not possible, it is necessary to look for a thermostat that matches the parameters that are usually indicated in technical data sheets of devices. In such cases, it is appropriate to consult a specialist who is well familiar with the Baxi brand.

    Attention! Check carefully compatibility thermostat with a gas boiler for which it is purchased. Remember that devices one firm interact with each other best.

    When choosing a thermostat, it is necessary to consider whether the boiler is used constantly or only from time to time. If the house is not expensive model unit that rarely works, then it is enough simple regulator with a minimum of functions.

    Conversely, if heating and DHW are needed all year round and an expensive model of the unit is used, it is better to install a programmable thermostat.

    And if the cottage is involved smart home system, it will be very useful to be able to control the device via the Internet.

    This feature is implemented in most advanced models.

    Payment technical requirements to the thermostat is made based on the requirements for the operation of the boiler. For example, if the owners leave for work in the morning and return only in the evening, it will do thermostat with programmer, which will reduce the heating temperature and fuel consumption while there is no one in the house.

    And also, if the house is geographically located in a cold region, then it is better to purchase a thermostat with frost protection of the system: it automatically turns on the boiler if the air temperature drops. up to + 3 ° C. Such technical characteristics possesses, for example, room thermostat Baxi Magictime Plus.

    Where to post

    An important condition for the correct operation of thermostats is the accurate measurement of the air temperature. Although all devices have an error up to several degrees, it can be minimized.

    For this, the room thermostat must be installed away from drafts and at a considerable distance from heating appliances.

    Outdoor sensor it is better to install it so that it is not flooded with rain or covered with snow. These precautions are due to the fact that what more accurate sensor readings, so more efficient work boiler and less fuel consumption.

    What materials are needed to connect

    Connection materials are usually supplied with the thermostat. This is, first of all, the device itself, as well as installation cable and fasteners... With their help, the device is connected to a gas boiler and fixed on the wall.

    What tools are required for installation

    To connect the thermostat you may need:

    • screwdriver;
    • drill;
    • side cutters;
    • thermometer.

    Side cutters you can strip the ends of the thermostat wires, but as a rule, they already have terminals that are screwed to the contacts of the gas boiler for the remote thermostat.

    A drill is needed for holes in the wall into which the dowels are installed. They twist in screws on which the device is attached. The need for dowels disappears if the wall is wooden.

    A thermometer is needed to check the air temperature after starting the thermostat.

    Connection procedure

    For the period of connection, both devices should not work. To connect the thermostat and gas boiler, it is necessary to study technical data sheets of both devices and follow the diagrams and connection instructions. The ends of the cable for the thermostat must be attached to the designated the contacts of the gas boiler.

    Then the cable must be pulled along the wall to the place where the thermostat is installed. After that, at the selected point (usually it is in the coldest living room), the device is screwed to the wall. Finally, setting up and checking the device.

    How to check the operation of the device

    To check the device, you must set the maximum temperature. Then you need to turn on the gas boiler and bring it to maximum efficiency mode(Efficiency).

    Upon reaching a comfortable temperature, it is necessary to accurately measure it near the thermostat and set it as a threshold for switching off.

    By installing an automatic thermostat, the user hopes to save energy spent on heating an apartment or private house. True, the purchase and installation of a device sometimes gives the opposite result - the consumption of gas or electricity increases. Therefore, we propose to clarify a number of points: how a room thermostat for a gas boiler works, types of temperature regulators, methods of connection and correct settings.

    Briefly about the principle of work

    For a better understanding of the principle of operation of room thermostats, we first explain the operation algorithm of a hot water boiler in the basic configuration:

    1. The user ignites the heater, using buttons or control knobs sets the desired temperature of the heat carrier.
    2. Each device is equipped with an immersion or contact sensor that informs the control unit about the degree of water heating. When the temperature of the coolant reaches a predetermined threshold, the gas valve is triggered and shuts off the fuel supply to the main burner. The circulation pump continues to pump water through the system.
    3. After the coolant cools down to the lower temperature limit, the gas supply resumes, the burner ignites again and heats up the water.

    Reference. In turbocharged wood-fired boilers automatic switches off the blower fan. The intake of air and the combustion process in the furnace is suspended, the unit goes into standby mode.

    The scheme of operation of a heating boiler with a remote thermostat - the automation stops and starts the burner depending on the air temperature, not the coolant

    Without an external temperature sensor, the heater “does not see” the air temperature in the premises and stupidly heats the water up to the specified limit. Result: in the transitional autumn-spring period, the so-called cycling is observed - frequent start / stop of the burner (once every 2-3 minutes), which reduces the resource of the unit as a whole.

    Now about the main thing. The remote thermostat extends the intervals between turning on / off the gas boiler, since it is guided by the temperature of the air, which cools down more slowly. The device is switched on in a break in the power supply circuit of the gas valve (on TT boilers - turbines) and the built-in pump.

    Installing an automatic thermostat allows you to kill three birds with one stone:

    • reduce energy consumption;
    • make boiler control more convenient;
    • extend the life of the heat source.

    Important note. The items listed above apply not only to. Any heat generator equipped with an electronic or electrical control unit is connected to the thermostat: solid fuel, diesel, electric boiler, and so on.

    The wood-fired boiler automation unit has a thermostat connector

    When the room warms up to the specified temperature, the thermostat breaks the circuit, the burner and the built-in pump of the heat generator stop. The unit starts up after cooling the air by 1-2 degrees, which increases the duration of the interval between shutdown and ignition up to 15-20 minutes.

    Let's note 2 significant nuances:

    1. When using a room regulator, the standard start / stop function based on the water temperature in the boiler jacket continues to operate. When the coolant in the boiler heats up to the set limit, the gas burner will turn off.
    2. If the burner is extinguished by the command of the internal temperature sensor, the standard circulation pump continues to work. When the remote thermostat is triggered, both devices stop - the burner and the pump unit.

    That is why it is important to correctly set up the connection between the boiler and the external thermostat.

    Types of room regulators

    For automatic regulation of the boiler combustion according to the room air temperature, 2 types of thermostats are used:

    1. Mechanical. The breaking and closing of the electrical circuit is produced by a bimetallic plate, bending from heating. To change the desired temperature, the user rotates a knob that increases or decreases the gap between the plate and the second contact.
    2. Electronic (digital). Here, the role of a heat-sensitive element is played by a thermistor, which changes the resistance depending on temperature. The circuit, which includes the specified part, closes the relay contacts, guided by the change in resistance and user settings.

    Reference. Mechanical and electronic temperature sensors are used not only for the boiler. Thermostats are successfully used in other areas of the heating system, for example, to turn off a separate radiator branch or for zone control.

    The device of the simplest mechanical temperature controller

    The mechanical device is connected to the heat generator via a cable. Most electronic models provide wireless connectivity. According to reviews, radio-controlled thermostats are gaining wide popularity due to their ease of installation and operation. How the wireless boiler thermostat works:

    1. The device consists of two units equipped with radio modules.
    2. The first block, which turns on the executive relay, is placed directly next to the heater and connected to the required connector. Power supply - from the house 220 volt electrical network.
    3. The second unit with a display and control buttons is powered by batteries and installed in a convenient place in the home.
    4. A thermal sensor located inside the remote control reacts to the temperature of the air environment. At the right time, the radio module sends signals to the first unit to turn on / off the boiler. He opens the relay contacts, heating and circulation of the coolant stops or resumes.

    Wireless thermostats consist of 2 blocks that exchange radio signals

    Usually, electronic models are equipped with programmers that allow you to set the boiler operation schedule for a week. The room temperature can be changed several times during the day. Individual copies are programmed for 90 days and controlled via mobile communication, for example, via SMS or the Internet application of a smartphone.

    Which thermostat is better to choose

    To make the right choice of a room regulator, we propose to consider the pros and cons of two types of household appliances. Disadvantages of mechanical models:

    • low accuracy of the maintained temperature;
    • wired connection - the cable will have to be pulled from the boiler room to the desired room;
    • lack of various convenient functions available in the programmers.

    Note. Judging by the feedback from real owners on the forums, the accuracy of maintaining the temperature is not a critical issue and does not bother users too much. Another thing is the wires that need to be hidden under the baseboards, in the grooves of the walls, and so on.

    There are also three obvious advantages of bimetallic thermostats:

    • not high price and availability;
    • reliability in work - in the simplest models there is nothing to break;
    • simplicity of boiler control with one handle, which is important for elderly homeowners.

    The negative sides of electronic regulators are the higher price, not always clear interface and the need for timely replacement of batteries. Cheap Chinese models have an additional problem - communication failure with the relay unit when the control panel is installed behind 1-2 partitions.

    An unconditional plus of digital thermostats is comfortable operation. It is enough to lay down the weekly and daily program of the heat generator once, no more action is required.

    In wireless programmers, you need to change the batteries on time

    We list a typical set of functions using the example of the Baxi Magic Plus thermostat:

    • temperature control range - 5 ... 35 ° С;
    • protection against freezing of the heating system, by default it starts the boiler when the dwelling cools down to +3 degrees;
    • Backlit LCD display, push-button control;
    • shift of the temperature sensor readings ± 5 ° С (for an explanation, see the next section of the publication);
    • 2 operating modes - economical and comfortable;
    • hour / daily / weekly programmer.

    Reference. Manufacturers often refer to such devices as digital chronothermostats. Weakness devices - low maintainability in case of breakdown, especially Chinese products for which it is not easy to find spare parts.

    Knowing the features of electronic and mechanical regulators, it is not difficult to choose the right model. Focusing on your budget, first of all consider reliable products from European, Japanese and Korean manufacturers. Among the "Chinese" there are also decent brands, but on average the quality of the products leaves much to be desired.

    Installing and connecting the device

    The installation of a household regulator consists of two stages - fastening in a convenient place and connecting to a gas (solid fuel) boiler. In order for the thermostat to record the temperature without deviations, position the regulating element according to the recommendations:

    Advice. For a private house with warm floors it is worth buying a thermostat model equipped with an additional thermal sensor. The latter is placed above the floor surface and measures the temperature in the lower area of the room.

    After fixing the appliance to the wall according to the manufacturer's instructions, lay the cable to the heat source hidden or open way(if there is a wired connection). How to connect the regulator to the boiler:

    1. Connect one end of the control cable to the terminals marked COM (common) and NO (normally open) of the thermostat. On the wireless version, these terminals are located in the relay box.
    2. In the operating instructions for the heat generator, find the connection diagram for the external thermostat, the marking and the location of the contacts.
    3. Remove or fold down the front panel of the gas heater, which covers access to the control board and connectors.
    4. Remove the jumper inserted between the terminals indicated in the passport. Do not throw away the part, you may need it later.
    5. Connect the wires from the regulator contacts to the freed terminals. You do not need to observe the polarity.
    6. When installing a wireless thermostat, run a three-wire 220 V power cable with a ground wire to the relay box.

    Advice. If numbers or incomprehensible letters are printed on the contacts of your device instead of the indicated marking, find the 2 required terminals using a tester (the circuit between them must be open). There are three contacts in total, the COM and NC pair are initially closed, as shown in the diagram above.

    Details of thermostat installation wireless type shown on video:

    Non-volatile floor-standing boilers equipped with 630 SIT, 710 MiniSIT, SABC, Orion and the like are not compatible with remote controls. The reason is the completely mechanical design of the gas valve and the absence of electrical circuits where a relay-breaker can be connected.

    Connection diagram of the regulator to the SIT 820 NOVA valve

    The exception is gas heat generators equipped with "Kare" automatics and the latest generation of Italian valves EuroSIT - 820 NOVA. These blocks are provided with solenoid valves and special contacts for connecting external thermostats of two types - mechanical and digital.

    In the automation of "Kare" involved solenoid valve where the thermostat is connected

    Setting procedure

    To set up the system and select a comfortable temperature, follow these steps:

    1. Set the maximum temperature with the remote control.
    2. Start the boiler and bring it to optimal mode work at which the unit reaches the highest efficiency.
    3. When comfortable warmth is established in all rooms, take an electronic thermometer and measure the temperature near your regulator.
    4. Select the measured value on the thermostat as the heater shutdown threshold. Put the required settings in the programmer.

    An important clarification. The gas boiler operates at maximum efficiency at temperature conditions 80/60 ° С (supply / return).

    Let's explain the purpose of the listed manipulations. Due to the different areas and heat losses, the temperature in the rooms can differ by 1-3 degrees, so it is better to navigate by the degree of heating of the air near the sensor itself.

    If the temperature at the point of installation of the regulator is very different from the rest of the rooms, when adjusting, you need to make an adjustment for the value of this difference. Some models, for example, Baxi Magic Plus, provide a function for such a correction (called temperature shift). Then it remains only to enter the required value into the device's memory, ranging from 1 to 5 degrees.

    When does the thermostat not save gas?

    There are many reviews of this kind on the Internet: “I took the sellers' assurances about saving 30%, bought and installed a temperature regulator, now the boiler consumes more gas. Why is he needed at all? " Let's see how this device saves energy (not only gas, but also solid fuel, diesel fuel and electricity):

    1. The interval between starts of the heat generator is increased. The reason is that the cooling and heating of the air is slower than the water in the batteries.
    2. Together with the burner, the circulation pump is turned off, which consumes up to 100 W of electricity. B stops the fan (turbocharger or exhaust fan).
    3. The premises are fully heated at the right time when the residents are at home. The rest of the hours are kept at a reasonable temperature. It is recommended to reduce heating at night - for a comfortable sleep, it is enough to heat the rooms at the level of 18-19 ° С.

    Explanation. Reasonably acceptable is the temperature at which the boiler will quickly warm up the rooms to a comfortable level without much energy consumption. Determined empirically and lies within 15-18 degrees.

    Now let's consider situations when, instead of saving, there is an increased consumption or deterioration in heating:

    1. The boiler is set to the minimum temperature of the heating medium (40-45 ° C), because the underfloor heating circuits are directly connected. The heater operates with low efficiency, the gas consumption does not decrease.
    2. When the dwelling is heated exclusively with warm floors, and the thermostat does not measure in the lower zone of the room. The screed and the air heats up slowly; at the moment the sensor is triggered, the floors become too hot. On cooling, the opposite picture is observed.
    3. The heat loss of the building is too high. No thermostats will help here, insulation is required.
    4. The connection between the temperature sensor and the boiler is incorrectly configured, the hysteresis is incorrectly selected (the temperature difference between the start and stop of the heat generator).

    Each thermostat has a temperature difference between turning off and turning on the boiler. The value can be changed within 0.5-2 degrees. If the maximum hysteresis is selected, and the house is heated with underfloor heating, the temperature difference in the air will increase greatly, staying in the room will become uncomfortable, and the heat generator will consume more fuel for heating.

    The master installer will tell you about the intricacies of setting the thermostat in the video:

    Conclusion

    According to the assurances of sellers, thermostats for gas boilers reduce the consumption of blue fuel by 25-50%. The figures are somewhat overestimated in order to sell heating equipment to the user. In practice, the amount of savings falls within the range of 10-25%, depending on many conditions. But with the current tariffs and energy prices, 10 percent will have a tangible effect, therefore thermostats are definitely recommended for use.
