  • At the last stage, hinges for metal gates are welded. To reinforce the hinges, you can weld a strip of metal onto them. Before installing, it is necessary to check the size of the sashes and determine if they will get stuck in the opening. If necessary, fix any irregularities prior to installation.
  • Important! Since a sheet of metal is easily deformed during work, it is worth first joining the corners, and then starting to weld in the middle.

    Before making a swing gate to the garage with your own hands, it is worth determining whether the frame is installed correctly. This can be done using a building level and a plumb line.

    Sash installation

    First you need to install the door frame. The inner and outer frames are connected with each other using strips of metal with a thickness of about 4 mm. During the connection, it is important to check if all the elements are correctly positioned. The distance between the metal strips should be about 60 cm.

    In order for the frame to be more securely fixed to the opening, it is worth not only using the pins, but also to embed the structure into the wall. It is worth remembering that there should be at least three reinforcing rods in the height of the garage opening. They should be about 30 cm long.

    After that, the hinges are welded and the sashes are hung. During such work, it is important to check whether all elements are correctly installed and whether the gate opens freely. Installation of garage doors can only be done with an assistant, since the installation cannot be done alone.

    If you wish, you can insulate the gate. To do this, it is enough to fix the insulation on the inside of the sashes. If created wooden gate, this happens in a similar way, only the insulation is fixed in a frame made of wooden bars and sheathed with clapboard.

    Garage door protection

    In order for the garage to be reliably protected from penetration, it is necessary to install the hinges in such a way that they cannot be cut off with a grinder. You also need to follow other recommendations:

  • From the inside of the created frame of the sashes, it is worth weld metal corners in the area of ​​the hinges. This must be done in such a way that when the swing gates are closed, the corner enters the wall. To do this, you need to make a depression in the brick. This must be done so that, when removing the hinges, intruders cannot remove the sash.
  • It is also important to install the lock correctly. When closing the garage, the pins of the lock should go into the walls, floor and ceiling of the building. Spider-type locks are quite reliable, as they are difficult to break and cannot be cut. But it is worth remembering that if the keys are lost, it will be very difficult to open such a garage.
